Ricotta

Hi… my name is Ricotta.

I was adopted on September 17, 2014.

There sure have been a lot of needy kittens lately! You know spring and summer are always “kitten and puppy seasons,” but there have been a lot more abandoned or orphaned infants found this year than usual. In my case, my mom was frightened off by dogs, and although the owner waited a few days, she never came back, so my siblings and I got to come to TALGV where a foster parent took care of “my needs” until I was okay on my own. Now that I’m self-sufficient (and growing by leaps and bounds!), I’m way past ready to move on to a “Life of Riley” that will make up for my less-than-auspicious start in life. I’m am solid black shorthaired girl who promises to be the light of your life!

Jasper

Hi… my name is Jasper.

Adopted August 15, 2015

After my mom died, I hoped that her family would be able to take me in, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I came from a “one person/one cat” household (there was a small dog that I got along fine with however), so I’m a rather laid back, quiet, and shy guy when there a lot of people around. I was great with my mom, though, and was okay with the volunteers when they did all that essential “intake stuff” to me (shots, nail clipping and the like), so I’ll bet if I find another quiet, older person who’s looking for a companion to make life less lonely, I’d adjust to a new home just fine. It might take me a while, but in the end, I know we’ll be the best of friends.

Bear

Hi… my name is Bear.

Adopted April 18, 2015/

Six years ago, my dad rescued me from a home in a trailer park when the family was being evicted and planned to leave me in the desert. Thank heavens for him! Unfortunately, his circumstances have changed and he can no longer keep me, so he prevailed on TALGV to find me one last, big-black-Lab-loving home. The folks here say that although I’ve got a way to go in the formal training department, I yearn to spend my time having lots of “people contact.” I walk well on a leash (with anyone who’ll take me for a spin!), and get along okay with other dogs (there were five of them in my other home), so if you want a guy who craves attention and to join you in your daily activities, I’d be the perfect fit!

Agate

Hi… my name is Agate.

Adopted November 15, 2014.

My siblings and I were found under a house in Sahuarita when we were four weeks old. With no mom to care for us, we went to live with a wonderful foster mom who gave us tons of TLC. She said that my brother, Sapphire (who is still here with me), and I were the “runts” of the litter and very bonded so she really hoped we’d be able to find a home together. Because of all the handling we got as babies (the baths and blow dries weren’t great, but snuggling in warm towels afterward was terrific!), she said, “They may seem ‘ordinary’ black kittens to the casual eye, but they have exceptionally sweet temperaments and need a lot of cuddling and love.” Wouldn’t you like to be the one to give us that?

Lizzie

Hi… my name is Lizzie.

I was adopted July 26, 2014.

My people said, “Lizzie is a wonderful cat. She likes to sit in windows and ‘cackle’ at birds and other wildlife. She enjoys playing with things she can bat around and dangly strings and ribbons. She enjoys a good petting and likes to be brushed. We think she would be best suited as the only cat in her new forever home with adults.” Unfortunately, they’re moving to a place where the landlord won’t allow pets, so we won’t be able to enjoy our lives together any longer. I’m a sweet, gentle, declawed black and white lady (my fur has been described as “cow patched!”), who will make an ideal quiet companion for anyone looking for love in a warm and furry bundle. I’m hopeful that’s you and you’re right around the corner!

Not to toot my own horn, but here’s what the volunteers are saying about me: “Raven is one of the best dogs we’ve had in a while. Besides being a wonderful mom, she’s house trained, loves people, walks well on leash, and wants to be a big lap dog.” The police and firemen rescued me when they responded to a call about Africanized bees and found me (and my nine puppies!) in a wire enclosure, so you know that I’m really happy to be here! My babies are all adopted now, so I’m free to get on with my life. I’m a striking, 60-pound black Lab mix lady who will undoubtedly make any Lab lover’s heart go pitty-pat, so come on down and visit me and see for yourself!

I was adopted on April 12, 2014.

After my senior mom’s husband died, her kids kindheartedly gave me to her for company. I began life with her as a fairly small puppy, but, as these things go, I quickly developed into an 18-month-old, high-spirited teenager, got a lot bigger (well only 30 pounds!), and became “too much” for her. She taught me lots of commands though, and being an Australian cattle dog, it took no time at all to learn them, so for you people out there who think my breed is just the best there is (I certainly think so!), I promise that I’m going to be the dog of your dreams. I love people, am GREAT with kids, well behaved, and am a happy-go-lucky gal who wants to share all the joie de vivre I have with you!

My “winter visitor” family adopted me from TALGV four years ago when my first owners relinquished me because of their health problems. I’ve made the annual trek back and forth to New Hampshire with them (and my best friend, Madi) ever since, but they now feel that the trip is too much for them with two fairly big dogs. I’m a delightful shepherd mix lady who just wants to be part of the action with you. So…if you’re looking for a leash- and house-trained “cuddler” (according to my mom) who loves to chase balls, play with other dogs in the dog park, knows lots of commands, and will be the love of your life, then that would be me!
