COMES WITH VET CARE SUPPORT FOR LIFE

Some cats take a relatively short time to adjust when they find themselves in new situations, but as a senior (with Vet Care Support for Life), I’m taking longer than usual. That’s because I prefer men, and there aren’t too many male volunteers in the cat wing, so this adjusting thing is taking quite a while. My dad’s health was failing, and mom could no longer care for me, so everyone hoped that I’d find a new “guy love” quickly. Mom said that I like treats, lots of water (especially with ice cubes floating in it!), and like to cuddle when I’m in the mood. The volunteers are working hard to get me over this hump in life, so please check back on my progress!

It’s a mystery to me how I got my name, but Pecan it is. I’m a sweet declawed(front paws) lady who currently is very shy, so the volunteers are giving me extra attention to help me overcome my being abandoned at a vet’s office. Fortunately, I was brought here where I’m being fed a variety of delectable treats to fill out my petite frame. And, boy, do I enjoy those extra feedings! Everyone’s catering to my hunger for attention, and although I appreciate that, I’d really love to be in my own home with my own person who can share love and attention with me. I feel like Kermit’s song, “It’s not easy being green … you tend to blend in with other things…” was written just for my roommates and me! Our lives have been a series of ups and downs – spending our early months outside, tolerating the intake pokes and prods when arriving here, and enduring a weeks-long ringworm protocol in isolation without a lot of “people time” – so we basically missed the joy of our kittenhood and are being fairly low-profile right now. But we’re youngsters nonetheless, and given patience, safe and loving homes, with a smidgen of time, I bet we’ll all become the companions we’re meant to be. Won’t you PLEASE give us that chance?

Everyone thinks babies are cute, but try being a middle-aged cat used to life with just his humans and then have a small creature with a thousand hands enter your life, hog all the attention, and see how YOUfeel! My people tried to help me adjust, but I couldn’t manage, so I came here. A nice, older lady adopted me and another cat a few months ago, and although I really liked her, I wasn’t into other felines either, so at the moment, I’m a bit put out about it all and am being standoffish. But I know given time and patience, I’ll be the perfect one-person, quiet-home companion I was meant to be.

Found alongside I-19, I was saved from disaster by being brought to TALGV. Well, wouldn’t you know? I endured weeks-long ringworm protocol so basically missed the joy of my kittenhood. I didn’t have much human contact. That took its toll. Thankfully, a kind couple adopted me. They said I was shy with everyone yet needed attention. I was loving and never bit or scratched furniture or them. I hid during the day and batted balls around at night. At TALGV I am hiding in my cubby but will allow volunteers to pet me. I haven’t minded another cat joining me in the cubby so maybe I need a playmate? Please give me another chance!

All you need to know about me is that I LOVE people! Although I lived with another cat once upon a time, when I went to my second home I became aggressive with the resident female and, truth be told, was really unpleasant to her. I’m a charmingly marked tabby and white 11½ year old, who was allowed outdoors and from the looks of me, I’ve had quite a bit of exercise gallivanting about, and could use a pound or three added to my frame. I’m hyperthyroid, so need a pill a day (I have vet care support to pay for them), so I’m ready for just you and me to enjoy those touted “creature comforts.”
