Hi… my name is Shaggy,

Adopted 5-1-17

I was a found dog, lucky to have someone who fed me. However, that person leaves in the summer and so I was brought here, where I’ve discovered there are lots of people who like me! In addition to regular meals, I enjoy going on walks every day, spending quality time with people (by which I mean they pet me), and they even give me the occasional treat for being good. I’m about 40 pounds and at 4 years old, I have a mature, calm demeanor, but I’m young enough to enjoy playing and having fun. I behave well on a leash, and happily pay attention to the person I’m with. They call me Shaggy, but under my black and tan coat, you’ll find a very sweet fellow who’d simply love to be yours.

Hi… my name is Luke,

Adopted 4-9-17

I was found near a railroad track, a lost dog who’s apparently known tough times in the past because my smooth brown coat bears some scars. Am I still a handsome guy? Absolutely yes, say my dear friends. Moreover, they say my good looks are from my true nature shining through because I’m a remarkably sweet, gentle, and very loving dog. My finder kept me for ten days and said I was gentle with their teenager and got along with their other dogs. Here at TALGV, I’m delighted when people visit me and when we go for walks, I’m great on the leash. A 6-1/2-year-old Boxer mix male, medium size at 49 pounds, I’m confident the best times of my life are right up ahead, especially if I get to share them with you!

Hi… my name is Arlene,

Adopted 5-20-17

Well I’ve got to say a lot has happened to me in a month — lost, found under a porch, terrified by big dogs, arrived at TALGV, got poked and prodded a bit, and then spayed! Whew! That’s enough “action” to last a lifetime! But through it all, despite being understandably a smidge shy, I’ve loved getting ear and head rubs, and the attention (the nice kind!) from the volunteers has been great. Now I’m ready to find a place of my own (no more big dogs, please!), and let my personality shine. At about 18 months, I’m still looking for the kind of action I’m supposed to be involved in – playing and cuddling – so let’s get working on that!

Hi… my name is Alex,

Adopted 4-24-17

When my original owner died, his mom took me in for a while, but she already has three dogs and so I need a home of my own. I’m an active 8-year-old Rottweiler mix female, a beauty in black and tan, and I’d love to hike and play with you. Best of all, I want to be your devoted companion—a part of the family. My owner’s mom said I get along well with kids and cats, I’m housebroken, and know lots of commands—including sit, stay, off, no, come, and go to bed. In other words, I’m old enough to know a lot already, but still lively and eager to have fun. I’ll fit smoothly into your home and, I hope, your heart. Will you give me a chance to be yours today?

Hi… my name is Patty,

Adopted 4-15-17

“A good girl, very friendly,” is how my former owner described me. Unfortunately, she also said I chased chickens, goats and cats, and she has all those animals. But let’s get back to my good qualities! In addition to being friendly, I’m leash trained, know lots of commands, and definitely know how to have fun—I love water, running, and playing with toys. Prior to coming here, I was living outside and somewhere along the line, my throat was hurt, so I have an unusual bark. I’m a 2-1/2-year-old St. Bernard mix female, 72 pounds, with a gorgeous tan and white coat, and you can imagine how much it will mean to me to live indoors in a comfy, loving home. If you make that happen—well, plain and simply, I’ll love you forever!

Hi… my name is Rickie,

Adopted 3-15-17

Since my puppy brothers were adopted, I’ve learned people can be fun, too! A volunteer even took me home for a visit and here’s what she discovered: I really like her two big female dogs and respond correctly to their “coaching,” have a good appetite, adorable personality, a little mouthy (maybe missing roughhousing with my brothers), settle quickly in my crate in the car, my leash skills are improving with every outing, and—here’s something to make you proud—I went potty whenever given the chance to go outside, so housetraining should go well. I’m a growing, 2-month-old Shepherd mix male with a smooth tan coat. Sometimes I’m timid, but when we meet and like each other—which I hope is soon—I’ll be the happy, easy-to-love puppy who’ll love you back forever!

Hi… my name is Pearl,

Adopted 3-10-17

I was found near a local self-storage unit. Why there? Could be I just wandered that far. In any event, I was lost, but, fortunately for me, easy to find. At 83 pounds, I’m hard to miss—big and amazingly gentle. Maybe you’ve known other dogs like me—large-size sweethearts! For me, that means I can stay calm in a commotion, greet visitors sweetly, and if you’d rather mosey than race, that’s okay with me. On the other hand, I’m still young—just 2 years old—so I also love to play and have fun. I’m black and tan, with one of the friendliest faces you could ever hope to see. So won’t you come for a visit? And if we find each other irresistible, I’m ready to be your big gentle dog forever!
