Hi… my name is Buck.

Adopted July 18, 2015

I guess some people just forget how much attention and energy are necessary to really bring out a young puppy’s finest qualities. My dad tried, but he just didn’t have enough time, so I’m back at my alma mater and getting lots of encouragement and instruction from the volunteers so I’ll be ready for my next family. They say that I’m a wonderful 7-month-old lab/Shar Pei mix pup who just needs to understand what’s expected of me to be the best dog ever.  I’m extremely affectionate and gentle (although I’m a bit of a puller on a walk, but that’s just because no one had shown me how that process is supposed to work!). So now that you know a little about my background, how about letting my future be your call?

Hi… my name is Marley.

Adopted September 30, 2015

The man who found me in the Safeway parking lot on Duval Mine Road said that he would have kept me in a minute, but he didn’t have a fenced yard for me to stretch my legs, so decided I’d do better with another family. I got along fine with his kids and the other animals I met, but since I arrived here I’ve been a little shy (but not “fearful” if that makes sense!), and am giving more tail wags and asking for affection with each passing day. The volunteers say I’m curious about toys (I may never have had the opportunity to play with them, who knows?), and they’re certain that I’ll be worth the investment in helping me understand that good things are in store for me with a new family.

Hi… my name is Arrow.

Adopted June 13, 2015

If you know anything about herding breeds, then I probably don’t have to tell you how great I am (but I will anyway!). I love to rub against you and get tummy rubs, understand “no,” am crate-trained, walk beautifully on leash, and ride well in a car (just say “wanna go for a ride?” and I’m there!). I’m typically very athletic, so would make a great Frisbee or agility dog (you know the old “job to do” thing for us active brainiacs!). I sleep through the night and am on my way to being housetrained (pretty good for a 5-month-old huh?), love to meet new people, and will be very protective of my own when I’m in my new home. So attention all heeler lovers — I’m here waiting for you!

Hi… my name is Frank.

Adopted June 11, 2015

When they designed a small dog, they had me in mind! I only weigh 2½ pounds (most kittens that weigh more than that!), so you can imagine the peril I was in when I was found running in the street by Wal-Mart! Fortunately a lady scooped me up and took me home hoping she could find my owner, but after eight days, that didn’t happen. She did get a chance to get to know me though, and said that I’m a great guy who likes to get on furniture (‘cause that where you are!), but will mind and get down if you really insist. She discovered that I’m crate trained and walk well on a leash, so I’m sure to steal your heart if given the teeniest chance.

Hi… my name is Truffle.

Adopted January 28,2016

My siblings, Oatmeal, Gingersnap, Shortbread, and my mom, Cookie (see a “theme” here?), were living outdoors in very poor conditions when TALGV’s Outreach Program rescued us. In addition to being malnourished, we had a lot of other issues, but with the TLC (and medical attention) we’ve been getting, we’re soon to be “up and running.” The volunteers say that I’m the shyest of my siblings and need a quiet environment with a kind soul who can show me patience and affection to help me come out of my shell. I’m actually an “easy keeper” when it comes to feeding and exercise, but I just need to learn the social skills that I missed out on in early life. With your help, I know I can reach my full potential and make you proud!

Hi… my name is Anna.

Adopted June 6, 2015.

With my perpetual smile and sparkling personality, you wonder how I came to be abandoned at Anamax Park! Happily, the Sahuarita police found me before anything untoward happened, and now I’m here getting lots of love and assurances that “it was nothing I said!” They’re thinking I’ve got lots of Corgi in my genes (the short legs), but I suppose you might also think of me as a “mini-Golden,” as I’m just as outgoing and sweet as they are. Whatever — at 25 pounds and approximately 2 years of age, I’m going to be the best thing you could have done for yourself this summer!

Hi… my name is Diane.

Adopted June 8, 2015

After I was found, the volunteers were scratching their heads wondering what breed I was because there was “something familiar” about me. Turns out I look just like a Canaan dog, the national dog of Israel, and although probably not pure bred, here’s what the AKC says about me: “The Canaan Dog is blessed with an endearing and responsive personality, loves her family, and is adaptable to many living situations. Life in an apartment with several short daily walks is as agreeable as living in a suburban home with a yard and noisy kids. While this breed is active, its energy level isn’t excessive, and they make wonderful companion dogs.” So that’s pretty much me — about 3 years old, 33 pounds and perfect for anyone!

Hi… my name is Candy Cane.

One wonders why people move to places that don’t allow their much-loved pets! Okay, I guess there are always those old “extenuating circumstances,” but that still leaves us loyal companions wondering if we did something wrong! In my case, I’d lived with my family (and a cat that scared the very devil out of me!) for four of my eight years, and they said I was a loving lap dog who wants nothing more in life than your love and attention. I’m an adorable tan and white Chihuahua girl who knows lots of commands (no, sit, stay, come, and “go bye bye” — love those car rides!), can use a doggie door, and, if I do say so myself, am perfect in every way! So why not let me be perfect for YOU?
