Adopted April 7, 2015.

LOLA (A) is a sweet, highly-socialized, well-behaved 8-year-old Shepherd mix who needs a new home with a family that has more time for her. She is good with all children as young as 2 years and is very good with cats and other dogs (she is lonely without her former companion). She is a quiet girl who enjoys lots of love and attention and would sit by your side all day. Lola is fully housebroken and knows many commands. She weighs about 45 pounds and has been spayed but does need to be updated on her shots (medical records available). Lola has lost her right rear leg following two incidents: first she was shot by someone doing target practice and then she was hurt defending her puppy companion from javelinas. Since one of her family members has many allergies, Lola now spends most of her time in the yard (coming inside on cold nights). There is no adoption fee.

If you will welcome Lola into a loving home as part of your family, please call Angie between 8 AM and 8 PM at 1-520-619-1055.

Hi… my name is Maddie.

Adopted November 28, 2014.

It’s always sad when a dog loses its home, but mine was so full of fun-loving kids (five of them ranging in age from 7 months to 5 years!) that I miss everyone doubly. A friend gave me to my family a year ago, and as the months passed, it became obvious that both mom and dad had serious allergies, which, unfortunately, included me. When I first arrived here I was really despondent over my loss, but the volunteers are being SO extra-sweet to me that I’m coming out of my shell more each day. I’m a warm and huggable Shar Pei and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix girl, who would love to find another dynamic family (preferably with a big yard!) that can help me “forget all my cares and woe”!

Hi… my name is Wendy.

Adopted December 12, 2014.

Anyone who’s ever had cholla cactus spines stuck on their fingers knows how utterly awful that is! Well, just imagine having them stuck on your lips and sides! That’s the condition I was in when I was rescued from the Interstate ramp in November. It took quite a bit of doing by the volunteers to get me all “unstuck,” so I’ve been a little “gun shy” ever since, but they’re being extra nice now to make up for it, and say it won’t be long before I forget that ordeal and get on with being a typical, people-loving lady. I’m a Chihuahua girl who, like most of my breed, has just one goal in life: to spend all of my time with my person for many years to come.

Hi… my name is Jack.

Adopted January 1, 2015.

When my mom and dad moved back east to care for aging grandparents, they decided not to take me with them because I wouldn’t get the time and attention I deserve. Although it might take a bit for me to get comfortable with new people, they said, “He is a ‘true love’ once he gets to know you and loves to play and give kisses.” I’m a handsome, leggy, young tan and white shepherd mix who enjoys dog parks and spending time in the house with you (I’m crate- and house-trained, walk fine on a leash, and know the basics of good deportment). Like most “teenagers,” I need a “job” to do to keep my lively mind occupied, so if you’re the active type, I am too — and we’d make beautiful music together!

When my mom and dad moved back east to care for aging grandparents, they decided not to take me with them because I wouldn’t get the time and attention I deserve. They said, “He is a great family dog who loves to play and go for walks, is good with voice commands, and just needs a loving family.” I’m an impressive young Catahoula/shepherd mix who enjoys other dogs (but not cats!) and spending time in the house (or anywhere!) with you. I’m crate- and house-trained, walk fine on a leash, and know the basics of good deportment. Like most “teenagers,” I need a “job” to do to keep my lively mind occupied, so if you’re the active type, I am too — and I know we could make beautiful music together!

Hi… my name is Dazzle.

Adopted December 18, 2014.

Oh, come on now, let me live up to my name! I was found with my sister, Razzle (who found a home in jig time), wandering on La Cañada Drive in Sahuarita, and after five days of hopeful searching, reluctantly conceded that we’d probably been abandoned. He said that we seemed like “very nice, calm dogs” that just needed homes, attention, training, and most of all, love. The volunteers say that I’m still very puppy-like (well, I’m only about 4 months old!), energetic on my walks (but learning better “technique”), and that I love people and other dogs (especially PLAYFUL dogs!). I’m an intriguing mix of hound and something else wonderful, so let’s get together and move on to the business transforming me into “Miss Perfect.”
