While my name is “Milkshake,” my new nickname since I’ve trimmed down is “Slim Fast,” and I feel great! I’m a happy, friendly pup who just LOVES people. I’m a gal who’ll greet you with a tail wag and stay by your side through thick and thin. I’ve got great house manners, love car rides, and take my naps like a pro. I’ll even go in my crate for a treat—easy peasy! I sit politely for the leash and wait to be invited in—manners matter, right? I can get barky at the doorbell, but once you’re inside, we’re besties. I’m still working on being calm around other dogs on leash, but I’m getting better! Life wasn’t always easy, but it’s all about second chances and spreading joy. When I first came to The Animal League—which happened because our person moved and couldn’t take us with her—I lived with another dog. Since she was adopted, I’ve shared my run peacefully and happily with another dog. Guess you could say I’m good company and not just with canines. People have called me a very friendly and lovable guy, even “the sweetest ever.” I’m good on leash for casual walks and I’d love to be your partner in a fun and active life, too. As for proper names, I’ll be happy with whatever you choose, as long as you call me yours.

The thing about puppies: They grow up. Maybe I’m biased, but the best puppies grow up to be big dogs! Unfortunately, that seemed to backfire on me because, through no fault of my own, I grew too big for my family to handle. I’m not sure what that means because I will happily show you how polite and well-mannered I am. I love going on long, leisurely walks where we can enjoy the sights, sounds, and sniffs – the last one is mostly for me – LOL! I’m house-trained (obviously), and I yearn to be near people. Many dog friends tell interesting stories about their lives before coming to The Animal League. Here’s mine: I was found at a mine tailings site. The End. OK, just teasing, but all we know for sure is that when found I was alone, scared, hungry and thirsty. Once safely here, though, I quickly let my true personality shine through. I’m a lively, very playful guy and have shared my run with other dogs, but no cats please! I still prefer to eat alone, and my people friends are helping me learn good-dog lessons, including how to share my toys. For fun-loving me, training is like playing! What else could I ask for? Just one thing: A home of my own with someone who’ll let me share their happy, active life. Could I be your dog?
