Moving day was also good-bye day for me and the people I’d lived with for many years. There just wasn’t room for all of us at their new place, which was sad, but I prefer to think of it this way: When it comes to being a great companion, I’ve earned lots of “know-how.” I’ve lived peacefully with other dogs and cats, I’m leash trained, and happily welcome affection—I love to be petted. My buddy Chico and I have been together since we were puppies. He’s a Lab mix male, and I’m a German Shepherd mix female, mainly black, 11 years old and 54 pounds. Our former people no longer have room for us, so we’re extra glad to have each other. I’m somewhat shy but becoming comfortable with the volunteers, and although our former family thought we might have trouble with small children, the young teenagers who help here at TALGV have become our great friends and walk partners. And we love all the comforts of living indoors for a change! Chico and I want to stay together, so please know we each have FREE Vet Care for Life, and offer two hearts full of gratitude and love if you’ll let us be family with you.

When I was rescued from a highway—a little guy, out there all alone—I went from terrifying experience to this safe, comfy place. Quite dehydrated when I arrived, the first important thing was water. Then came my little room, with a soft bed (where I stayed at first because I was very shy), and lots of comforting words. (Confidentially, the word “bath” also came up; I’m happy to report it turned out to be a soothing thing.) And now I’m learning about the good life—people hold me, take me for walks, we play in the big room, and they compliment my sweet brown eyes, extraordinary ears, and quiet charm. A 1-year-old Chihuahua male, 14 pounds, all I want now is a caring someone who’ll let me love them forever. Is that you?

I’m such a sweet, pretty, lovable dog, you might ask why anyone would give me up. Well, my former people can answer in one word: cats. They said I don’t like cats. Really I just don’t understand them, but it amounts to the same thing. The good news? I’m great with other dogs and people, including children. And there’s more! My people said I was housebroken, leash-trained, and an “awesome quick learner.” I already know some commands, and I’m always ready for fun. Still lively at 2-1/2 years old, I’m a gorgeous tan and white female, about 49 pounds, and if you look closely, you might notice an upside down heart on my neck. Can you see it? My finder (the woman who very kindly rescued me when I was a stray on the street) said I was good with her kids and her cats! I’m living peacefully with another dog here at TALGV, so you could say I’m an all-around sociable kind of dog who likes all kinds of friends. A nice size at 33 pounds, I’m 18 months old, alert, playful, and good on a leash. Plus, being affectionate comes naturally to me. Oh, I don’t overdo it—I just like to be by your side and know that we can feel free to cuddle if the mood strikes. (I’m pretty much always available for back rubs, ear scratches and the like.) I’ll do my best to make you smile every day if you let me be your dog forever.

Our family moved far, far away—overseas—so both Bubbles, my Terrier buddy, and I need a new home.
