Hi… my name is Juan,

Adopted 1-10-18

Juan has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Things were going great with my new family, but then I had to return to TALGV due to my dad’s illness, which made me sad because I’m a very sensitive guy. If you visit, you may see me watching people go by with a reflective expression in my eyes. I yearn to be with them, to be someone’s happy friend. And I try my best to please—I ride well in a car, have great house manners, and, with my short legs, I don’t readily jump on furniture. I’m not a big barker, but I do love to be admired, and you know what? That admiration could be a two-way street if we meet heart-to-heart and see the best in each other. What do you say? Will you let me devote myself to you?

Hi… my name is Ralphie,

Adopted 2-25-18

Please let me show you—up close and personal—why people say that “dog is man and woman’s best friend.” (Cats have their meaningful proverbs, too, but I’ll let them speak for themselves.) I was a stray dog, covered in cactus needles, and that only made me happy to be found. My rescuer said I love people, which leads to the top reason a dog could be your best friend—we love unconditionally. At just 18-months old, I’m active but can be mellow, too, and, as your friend, affectionate when you want me to be. Already good on a leash, I’m a red and white Boxer/Staffie mix male, 58 pounds, who’s eager to learn more good-dog things to please you. And if you say the word, I’ll be the loyal, loving companion you deserve forever.

Hi… my name is Taco,

Adopted 11-25-17

Soon after I was adopted in September, my new mom and dad each developed serious health problems and they just couldn’t keep me. Mom said she was “so sad” to give me up, but we understand. Even a little puppy like me needs lots of attention. Back then, I weighed just 3 pounds. Now I’m still growing and learning, too. For instance, I’ve been learning how to play with cats—my former people said I loved them, but our play was sometimes a little rough. You won’t be surprised to know that I’m lively—just what you’d expect from a 3-month-old Chihuahua mix female!  I’m also friendly, sweet, and a wonderful size for cuddling. So let’s meet and see if we match! If we do, there’s lots of fun and love in our future.

Hi… my name is Toby,

Adopted 12-2-17

I’m not sure what “cute” means (it’s never come with a treat, so I haven’t paid close attention), but humans smile when they say that word about me. For my part, I’m happy just being with someone who enjoys the company of a friendly, active dog. I’m friendly because I love the attention of people, and active (often sniffing and observing) because I’m so curious about the world around us. And if you’d sometimes enjoy just being lazy together, I’m good with that, too. I’m a tri-colored 2-year-old Beagle mix male, about 30 pounds, and I do speak Beagle, a sound some like more than others. I’ve been reported to be housebroken and leash trained, and if you make me yours, I’ll do my small hound dog best to make you smile every day.

Hi… my name is Thomas (aka Mr. T),

Adopted with Blossom 4-15-18

The problem with living with a human who rescues strays is that sometimes there get to be just too many mouths to feed, and I guess that’s what happened with me and my friend, Sophia. On the plus side, you learn pretty quickly to get along with other critters (including dogs!), but on the down side, you don’t always get to stay forever. Well, mom did her best after she rescued me from a house I’d been abandoned in, but just couldn’t keep me any longer. I’m a big, handsome almost 3-year-old tuxedo gentleman, so you can be sure that once I’ve adjusted to my recent change in circumstances it won’t take more than having a lap, a safe haven, and YOU to make my world right again!

Hi… my name is Corky,

Adopted 12-5-17

Corky comes with Free Vet Care for Life.

“Never a minute’s trouble! The nicest cat I’ve ever had. Corky’s a sweet and loving lap cat who likes to play with toys, is good with my other cat, likes to be brushed, sits next to me on sofa, and greets me at the door when I come home.” Whoa, I sound almost like a dog! So how’d mom give me up? Well, she had to move to a place that I wasn’t allowed, so I’m hopeful that my bona fides will convince you that I can be the nicest cat you’ve ever had too. As a declawed 11-year-old, I have free vet care (in addition to all the other good stuff about me), so if you ask me, taking me home with you is a real “no brainer!”
