Here’s what they said about me: “Mr. Cat liked to spend time in a closet, was bonded with his female owner and sat at her feet often. He’s not particularly interested in toys except for a rubber band that he’d toss around for hours. He’s not fond of children, but was a wonderful companion to his mom.” I lived in an assisted living facility with mom until at age 16 I began having a few aging problems of my own. I guess that’s something we all have in store, but (with free vet care) I’m hoping that there will be a kind soul out there who’ll be understanding of my needs and care for me, too.

I was found near Green Valley Hospital, but the kind of care I needed wasn’t medical. Turned out, I’d been given away when my person moved out of state and then not kept. But you know what? I’m only 1 year old, so a disappointing beginning is only that—my happy story can start now. Granted, for you, choosing a dog can get complicated if you’re considering size, gender, age, even coat and color. For me, though, it’s simple—I just want a kind someone who appreciates my good qualities and will let me love them forever. I’m a Pointer/Staffie mix male, distinctive looking with my friendly face, and my black and white speckled coat, and I’d love to meet you, because I think once together, we’ll want to share all our happy tomorrows.

We all understand that young pups need attention and training, and they earn it mainly by being so adorable. Well, I’m on the other end of that spectrum. Oh, I hope you find me adorable, too, but I’m 10 years old now and so I’m best at relaxing walks and quiet times by your side. I’m already leash trained, get along with cats and children, and described as gentle and tolerant. When first here, I was terribly shy, but quickly responded to kindness from friendly people. My rescuer said I found her, and that was certainly a lucky find! I walked into her yard weak from hunger and thirst. But things quickly turned around. My new friend gave me food, water, and even took me to a doctor. Then she brought me here (she already has 7 dogs), where I’ve met more wonderful people. A very sweet 14-month-old Shepherd mix female, 30 pounds, I walk well on a leash and sit when you say to (most of the time). I get along with other dogs and like to play, but you know what I love most of all? Your attention. Talk to me, pet me, teach me things—I love it all! So now it’s up to you. Will you let me find you today and then love you forever?

There are “bad environments” and then there are really, really BAD environments, and that’s what I came from. There were about 30 of us in a hoarding situation, and thankfully an incredibly dedicated woman rescued all of us over the course of a few months. Several of my companions and I came here, and when we arrived, almost all of us had one sort of affliction or another. It’s been a long road to recovery, but we’re almost there, and SO ready to have places of our own. I’m a shy and quiet (but very sweet and loving!) 6-month-old boy and although still a bit stunned by my ordeal, I’ll warm up in no time and fill your house with affection, one purr at a time!
