Hi… my name is Bitsy,
Adopted September 16, 2015
Bitsy comes with Free Vet Care for Life.
What would it take for you to give up a companion you’d had for 15 years? Sadly, all it took in my case was a “special deal” (I sure hope it was a good one!) on an apartment in an independent living facility that has a no-pet policy on upper floors. With what everyone knows about the beneficial effect on seniors (not to mention their pets!) of staying together as long as possible, you’d think that those policies would disappear. Well, that’s my short sad story, but the good part is that I’m healthy as can be (but still come with Free Vet Care for Life), gentle, sweet, and although at times shy (especially now!), I’m a peaceful spirit who’s ready made for a quiet home and a welcoming lap.

When I went to live with my mom, I had a history of being mistreated. But she loved and pampered me, and turned my world around. We had a great life! I loved running and playing around the house and yard, going to the dog park, and being happy every day. Men still scared me and I didn’t like strangers at our house, but we knew we could work on that. Then, suddenly, she was gone. After her death, a friend brought me to this safe place, where people understand I need lots of reassurance right now. I’m a 2-1/2-year-old Staffie mix female, who has learned how to love and be loved. If my truly forever home can be with you, I will give you my whole grateful heart. Please visit me soon.

When you hang around places where “animal people” are, you’re probably going to get lucky and find a softhearted person to take you in! Well, that’s what happened with me, when I appeared at the stables where my rescuer rides — she just couldn’t leave without me! Although she couldn’t keep me forever, she did have me for six weeks and said that I’m “the perfect love kitty” who purrs like a Ferrari (often just because you picked me up or because you looked at or talked to me!). She said that I’ll collapse against your leg or in your lap, and look in your eyes in a way that’ll totally melt your heart. As a 4-month-old kitten, you can be sure I’ll be happy playing with whatever’s around — and that always includes you!

I’m a friendly guy who really likes to be with people, so when my family had to leave me outside all the time because one of them was allergic to dogs, I was especially lonely. They were busy, too, and couldn’t spend much time with me, but said I was sweet and gentle anyway. The volunteers here at TALGV agree. They also call me a good sport—eager to play, attentive to my person on walks, and always happy to see my friends. I have a good-looking athletic build, weighing in at 40 pounds, and a distinctive white coat. At my young age, I still have things to learn, but already I know that life is best when shared. If you feel the same, let’s meet. I bet we could be great together!

I wish I could tell you my whole story and confide in you what made me shy, but for now will just say that I was so hungry for company that I approached a stranger’s house. He couldn’t keep me, so now I’m at TALGV, where my new friends are helping me build my confidence. They compliment my graceful movements and my beautiful brindle coat. I’m a 55-pound Boxer/Lab mix, so I have an athletic kind of build, but I’m good at stepping gently. Of course, I’d love to feel free to play and know the joy of hanging out with someone whose friendship I can always count on, so if that sounds good to you, too, please come for a visit. We can make lots of happy future stories together!

My foster mom and I talked about this message and here’s what we want to say: If you’re looking for a relaxed couch potato, I’m your man. I enjoy daily walks around the neighborhood to say hello to everyone, and I LOVE car rides, but no hiking or mile runs. When foster mom gets up at 4 a.m., I get up, go outside, and go back to bed. However, if you rustle pans in the kitchen, I’ll come running. I could be your sous chef! I’m not food aggressive, though. I’ve lived with dogs and cats, and I like them. I’m a 9-year-old Beagle, about 40 pounds. Foster mom says I’m “just a wonderful dude.” If I could be your happy guy, please ask TALGV to arrange a meet and greet for us.
