Animal League News

Hi… my name is Chloe.

I was adopted on April 12, 2014.

After my senior mom’s husband died, her kids kindheartedly gave me to her for company. I began life with her as a fairly small puppy, but, as these things go, I quickly developed into an 18-month-old, high-spirited teenager, got a lot bigger (well only 30 pounds!), and became “too much” for her. She taught me lots of commands though, and being an Australian cattle dog, it took no time at all to learn them, so for you people out there who think my breed is just the best there is (I certainly think so!), I promise that I’m going to be the dog of your dreams. I love people, am GREAT with kids, well behaved, and am a happy-go-lucky gal who wants to share all the joie de vivre I have with you!

Hi… my name is Sampson.

I was adopted July 21, 2014.

I guess you have to associate “big and strong” with my name. Well, I am that, but I’m a big people lover, too! I was found wandering on Sahuarita Road near the pecan groves, so naturally not much is known about my past, but the volunteers will tell you that I walk well on a leash (okay, I get distracted sometimes, but MOSTLY well!), am housebroken (I use my doggie door and NEVER have an accident in my room!), and will make some lucky family that has experience with guys like me a great companion and friend. I’m about 2-3 years old, and a genuinely handsome brindle mix of Boxer and Staffie, so do us both a favor and let me shine my light in your direction!

Hi… my name is Bonnie.

Adopted December 28, 2014.

So you say you like “interesting” dogs? Well, I’m guessing they don’t get much more eye-catching than me! I’ve definitely got Shar Pei ears going on, along with a bit of a husky mask and shepherd body. Wouldn’t it be fascinating if they always did DNA tests on canines so you’d know? In any case, I’m one lovely girl who was found as a stray (sadly, that’s a pretty big club), but even though I was pretty frightened when I arrived, the volunteers say that I now get along great with people, walk well on a leash, and am using my doggie door like a trooper. They think I’m a “few” years old, and I weigh about 30 pounds, so with just a bit of education, I’ll be a well-behaved and loyal friend.

Hi… my name is Pear Tree.

Adopted May 11, 2015

My sister, Partridge, and I (I guess we were “Christmas babies”!) came to TALGV when our mom could no longer care for us after 8 years. We’d been living with dogs (that scared the dickens out of us!) and tortoises (which were okay), and just her (whom we loved), so it’s taking us a long time to adjust to our change in circumstances. She said that we were both shy, but would climb into her lap now and then “when the spirit moved us.” We both like to play with toys, however, and adore watching “the action” from a nice big window or porch, so I think once we find a place where there isn’t so much going (like there is here) we’ll revert to our quietly affectionate ways. Could you give us that chance?

Arrived March 19, 2014

Hi… my name is Puss.

Adopted September 1, 2016

Puss comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

It’s nice when humans move in together to care for one another when they’re ill, but sometimes we companions can’t always accompany them. When my mom had to go live with her step-mom, it turned out she was terribly allergic to cats, so I’m “on the market” again. I’m a striking, longhaired, Siamese/Himalayan guy who has lived with kids and dogs and who likes laser lights, cat toys, and most especially to be scratched under my chin and on my chest. Mom says that I occasionally give “love bites” to let you know when I’ve had enough, and that since I was abused as a youngster, I sometimes take time to warm up to you, but once I do, I’ll be your best friend forever! Oh, and I come with Free Vet Care for Life!

Hi… my name is Cypress.

I was adopted on April 24, 2014.

You may have read the story in the Green Valley News about how my family and I were found in the pecan groves. Well, my mom, Willow, her current litter of puppies, and I are all here safe and sound now, and of course with all the notoriety (and their cuteness!), the puppies are going like wildfire, but since I’m a bit older (about a year), I’m not getting quite as much attention from visitors. As the volunteers said, I pretty much didn’t know what happened to me, but they’ve made it their mission to teach me all the things that we canines are supposed to have “under our belts.” I’m a handsome Catahoula Leopard dog mix boy who now knows what it’s like to get “three squares” a day and lots of love, so everyone’s certain that it won’t take long for me to find out that a loving home with a real family is in my future.

Hi… my name is Bandita.

I was adopted May 22, 2014.

When my family moved to a new house, they said there wasn’t enough room for my two feline friends and me in addition to their dogs and parrots! My suggestion, of course, was to rehome the dogs and parrots instead of us, but they didn’t listen to me! Well my two friends have found homes in a flash because they’re exotic Egyptian Maus, but I can tell you that I’m just as special as they are — particularly if you love Tuxedos like so many humans do! My people found me as a kitten 4½ years ago (and although I’m an “adult” lady now, I still love games and toys!), and they said that I’ve always been very lovable and a “great family pet,” so I’d like to continue that tradition with another family that isn’t planning to move any time soon. How about yours?

Female – Shorthaired Tuxedo

Est. Age: 4½ yrs – Arrived 3/5/14

Hi… my name is Becky.

Thanks for looking at my pictures. Please come back soon to see my story. Meantime, I can tell you just a few things about me… I love to walk with you and adore having my tummy rubbed. I am a very good family dog but don’t get along well with other animals.  Why not stop by TALGV and meet me soon!
