What’s in a name? In my case, a lot! My Animal League friends say they chose my name because I am a sweetie—friendly and good-natured—and have been that way since the day we met. A scary, very dangerous day for me. Somehow I’d ended up on a hot, busy road, trying desperately to dodge the traffic when a wonderful person rescued me and brought me here. What a relief! But even that experience didn’t change my mellow, loving nature. Here at TALGV I’ve made lots of new friends among the volunteers, have been a good companion on our walks, and gained a reputation for being a happy charmer. My black and white coat is soft, my eyes are blue, and my heart is hoping for someone to love. Could that be you?

Why doesn’t every neighborhood welcome dogs? Three years ago my littermate and I were adopted as pups. Life was blissful and we were cherished members of a loving family. Unfortunately, circumstances changed and my family had to move to one of those places that doesn’t allow dogs. I dream every night of a family who sees the friendly, playful, polite, obedient, and handsome young guy I am, and decide to make me part of their family. It will be my “Happily Ever After!” While I wait I’ve made both human and canine friends. I adore car rides, especially ones that end with a ‘pup cup’ —I’ve even mastered ordering at drive-thrus! Like the other dogs, I’m here through no fault of my own. Three years ago, my littermate and I were adopted as pups. We had a wonderful life! Then something changed and my family had to move to one of those places that doesn’t allow dogs. Why do such places exist? How boring! So, I am back at TALGV and trying my best to catch the attention of shelter visitors. While I’m a little shy, I do enjoy meeting people and am friendly and polite with other dogs. I obviously have experience living in a home and can easily learn new routines my new family would have. What do you say? Does your family need a four-legged companion like me? I hope so! Hi… my name is Spots (aka Jeff),

My journey brought me back to TALGV after an adoption two years ago, but my many friends can vouch for what a gem I am. If you give me time to get to know you, my devotion will have no limits: I’m all in! I adore playing with toys, especially squeaky ones and I’m a pro at fetch (no destruction, I promise). I like jumping in my very own pool to cool off on warm days. As your walking buddy, I have excellent leash manners and I’m cool walking with other well-mannered dogs. House-trained? Absolutely! I even mastered the doggy door. Despite a past foot injury that left me with a unique look, it doesn’t slow me down one bit. My handsomeness is only exceeded by my charm. Come see for yourself!

Life can be lots of fun when you’re an Australian Cattle Dog like me! Blessed with boundless energy, I’m a smart and loyal dog, who finds my people easy to love. I can run like the wind and enjoy lots of lively play, but my favorite thing is being with someone who loves me back, whether we’re going for long walks, playing ball or frisbee, or I’m curling up at your feet. I will ask to go outside, have learned to sit, stay, and fetch (especially with treats), and have been crate trained. My TALGV friends say I’m an exceptionally sweet dog, but I do not get along with cats. You can also call me a Blue Heeler—an especially beautiful Blue my friends say—but my biggest hope is that you’ll call me yours.

As much as my owner loved me, she had no choice but to find me and my other adopted “siblings” new homes. My “mom” had taken me in after being found in the desert covered with cholla. Now because of her love, she has trusted the good people at TALGV with my care while waiting for my new home. I’m an approximately 5-year-old female Heeler mix who walks well on a leash. I’m a little timid and would probably do better in a home without young children, and definitely no cats! I have a lot of love to offer if you’re willing to be patient while I get to know you. My mom’s request…love me as she has. If you have room in your heart (and your home), I’d love to meet you!
