Hi… my name is Fred,

Adopted 9-24-17

I was found near a river—perhaps a wise place for a lost dog who must find his own water, but the best solution was being rescued! Thereafter, I spent time with some very kind people who think I have what it takes to make someone happy. Like these two popular traits: I’m housebroken and have been “perfect” with cats (“no reaction,” they said). What’s more, I’m great on a leash and ride well in a vehicle. Granted, I find new situations stressful (I’ll let you know by whining, not barking), and have been uncomfortable when left alone in a crate. All things considered, if you find me lovable—a sweet 3-year-old, 74 pound, tan Lab mix male—I think we could be perfect together forever. Please say you’ll let me make you happy.

Hi… my name is Willow,

Adopted 8-9-17

When my owner died, I was the only one with him. Fortunately, many animals are blessed with the ability to cope with such sad times. I stayed with him, grieved, and then accepted that he was gone. Now I’m here again—the same place that took me in after my puppies and I were rescued from the pecan groves three years ago! We’re kind to each other here. I can be quiet and a bit shy, but love the attention volunteers give me, enjoy walks with them, and appreciate the cozy bed. I’m a 5-year-old Catahoula Leopard mix female, housebroken, 55 pounds, and they sweetly call me beautiful, but you and I know the most beautiful sight is that place called home. I’m so ready to be happy again—could it be with you?

Hi… my name is Moose,

Adopted 2-17-19

Can a big guy like me be called a sweetie? YES! … if the name fits—and for me, it does! I’m a 2-year-old, 83-pound Staffie mix male; my coat is blue gray and white, and my heart is gold. You’ll know that when we meet, but in the meantime I’ll share my story. I was found running around a local neighborhood. My rescuer stopped, saw that I was hot and thirsty (drooling), so she opened the door to her truck and I jumped in. (Guess you could call me a trusting soul, too.) Here at TALGV, they love me for being an easygoing guy who walks well on a leash and welcomes friends. (Confidentially, they also say they love my cute face.) So if you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion, I’m your guy.

Hi… my name is Bentley,

Adopted with Petey 11-27-18

Bentley has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I have the handsome look of a Malinois, and true to that breed, I’m alert, intelligent, and capable of hard work—but if I could have a life of leisure, play and companionship with you, I’d be great with that! Playing with people friends or my toys is always fun for me. Mind you, I need to be an only dog; I lived with two other dogs and did not get along with either. But I have lots of excellent qualities that humans love: I’m leash-trained, “ask” to go outside, and good in the house even when you’re gone. Plus, I’m a good listener, energetic, and loyal. A Malinois/Shepherd mix male, I’ve earned my Canine Good Citizen certificate, and now I just want the chance to show you what a great buddy I’ll be.

Hi… my name is Louie,

Adopted 8-13-17

Sometimes things happen that you just don’t want to believe. I’m an adorable, small, 2-year-old Corgi/Border Collie mix male, who was found in the desert, tied to a thistle bush with multiple ties. It appeared I’d been there a while. People who hear my story just shake their heads, especially since I’m such a lovable guy! But you know what? I’m calling that “water under the bridge.” Today my life is happy and improving every day. I’m making friends, going for walks, playing with toys—my finder said I like playing with kids, too—and visitors often stop to say hello. Sometimes we make the happy connection—that thing that happens when you’re on the same “wave length.” I’d love to meet you, too, and who knows? We might decide we belong together forever!

Hi… my name is Rodney,

Adopted 7-16-17

Asked for one word to describe me, I’d choose “loving.” That may be surprising for a young, 71-pound, Rottweiler mix male, but it’s who I am—a sweet, easygoing, affectionate fellow who just happens to come in size large. (If okay with you, I might sit and lift my paw so you can scratch my chest, or gently rest my head on your arm.) The man who found me really wanted to keep me, but his other dog said no, which was a shame because I’m a peace-loving guy. Just ask my neighbors here, or the volunteers who walk me—they say I may not have had much leash training before, but I’m so cooperative, it’s easily done. Being your loyal, loving companion would be even easier, so let’s start today!

Hi… my name is Blondie,

Adopted 5-5-18

Blondie has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I’ll tell you how I was found if you promise to remember that I’m a happy, thriving puppy and everything’s fine with me now. Here goes: A man was driving down Pima Mine Road when he saw me being thrown out of the car ahead of him. That was awful, but it’s over. Today, I’m a puppy with a bright future because I’m here, ready to meet you and fall in love. Oh, I admit I need someone to guide me—a patient person who’ll teach me good manners, good leash walking, and all those important good-dog things. I have webbed feet so we think I’m part Lab, and part Staffie; a cute, friendly, fun-loving, tan female. Won’t you please show me how wonderful a loving, forever home can be?

Hi… my name is Sparkler,

Adopted 7-30-17

There were twelve of us—6 young dogs and 6 newborn puppies—left in an abandoned house without food or water in triple-digit heat. Then a door opened. A woman had heard us. She was our first hero, and there would be many more. Indeed, we were in such dire straits that the rescue activity at TALGV by so many people—busy with fluids, cooling, nourishment, whatever we needed—is a bit of a blur. What I know for sure is that our lives were saved that day. Now we each have a future—a chance to thrive, play, give and receive love. I’m a blonde/reddish 1-year-old Poodle mix female, 12 pounds, and I’m sure you understand why I’m so ready for a carefree, fun and happy life in a comfy, loving home with you!
