Hi… my name is Hope,

Adopted 12-9-16

My name says a lot, doesn’t it? Indeed, my finders felt I’d reached my last hope when I showed up at their door in what they described as “very bad shape.” But they also recognized something else in me—a sweetness that was stronger than the tough times I’d obviously been through. So they brought me here, where the volunteers welcomed me with open arms. “A gentle spirit,” they call me, and they’ve seen how I respond wholeheartedly to their loving touches. I think those who need love the most can be the ones who are best at giving love, too, and giving love is another one my strengths. I’m a 3-year-old Boxer female, rust in color, and I expect we’ll see the best in each other every day once you make me yours.

Hi… my name is Dudley,

Adopted 12-14-16

My former owner could no longer care for my basic needs, so now I have a chance at a new home, where the basics and maybe even more will be given. There were 3 other dogs and 3 horses at my former place; they said I got along with other animals and the kids (ages 7 and 13). But I lived outdoors there, so you can imagine how much I’m enjoying indoor time—safe, dry and comfy! And the regular company of people is great. They seem to like me, too—especially my composed, mature manner. I’m a 3-year-old black Lab mix male, and under my calm demeanor, I’m yearning to be somebody’s best buddy. Could it be you? Let’s get together and see if we have a meeting of the minds—and the hearts!

Hi… my name is Tucker,

Adopted 12-22-16

I was found with a Hound mix female who looks a lot like me. After trying for two weeks to locate our home, our finder brought us here, where I’m happy to say Tanya, my female companion, has already been adopted. Now it’s my turn! I’m a good-looking 18-month-old Hound mix male, tan with white markings, medium-to-large in size. “Sit” is one command I already understand, and I’m eager to learn the other basics that good dogs know. Admittedly, I didn’t get along with my finder’s mini-pig, but my dog friend and I had lots of fun playing together. Plus, I’ve been called “people friendly,” and if that means I’d love to be your new best friend, then yes—that describes me perfectly. Let’s meet today just to see how great we’ll be together!

Hi… my name is Pilgrim,

Adopted 1-30-17

I was found wearing a choke collar but no tags, no ID of any kind. Well, without ID if you don’t count my exuberant personality, which my friends say is uniquely mine! I’m a 1-year-old handsome, well-built, tan and white Staffie mix male, who’s a bit more shy than you might see at first. Oh, I’ll greet you enthusiastically, jump, run around, and play like there’s no tomorrow! But when things get quiet and we sit down, even for a moment, you’ll notice I get a bashful look, almost afraid to hope that you might really like me. I’ve been lost and alone, so I need attention; maybe you can teach me the best way to get it. Give me a chance and a little guidance, and I could become the dog of your dreams.

Hi… my name is Lucy,

Adopted 11-25-16

When I grow up, I want to be a dog like my mom—playful but calm, eager to please, and fun-loving, too. And you know what? I think I’m off to a good start! Mom is a beautiful Border Collie mix, and she’s been a wonderful mother. Even though she was a stray when found, she gave all her babies excellent care and teaching. For instance, on a walk recently, one of my siblings got too far away. Mom didn’t panic or get mad, but she barked at him until we were together again. That’s the kind of smart, devoted dog I want to be! I’m a delightful female, brown and white, now about 24 pounds, and if you make me yours, we can make each other happy for a long time to come!  (new photos and amended bio will be available soon)

Hi… my name is Colleen,

Adopted 12-3-16

Since I was found outside a local real estate office, my TALGV buddies tease me that I was trying to find a home on my own. In a sense, that’s true! But when they mention rent or down payment, well, I’m happy to switch to dog talk. For instance, am I a dog who likes to play? Oh yes!   Am I lively, affectionate, and interested in the world around me—especially people? You bet! And most important: Do I have the makings of a lifelong loyal companion who’ll stick by you during the good and hard times? Absolutely; just look in my eyes and you’ll see that I do. I’m a 1-year-old female, a beautiful black and white Lab mix, who offers a constant heartbeat of love for you when you take me home.

Hi… my name is Victoria,

Adopted 1-10-17

I’ve changed since TALGV first shared my story! Oh, I’m still a beautiful, young, Red Heeler mix female who loves people. But now I’m even better! Here’s my updated story: I was left in a crate with a note saying my owner loved me but couldn’t keep me, and that I’m deaf. Well, the volunteers soon loved me, too, and praised my good qualities—smart, playful, super eager to please my person. But I barked too much at other dogs. A bad habit, right? Fortunately, inappropriate behavior can be corrected and I’m living proof! After excellent training with my enthusiastic cooperation, I can now see other dogs, even walk by them, without doing all that barking! It’s the new and improved me, all because I want to be the best dog possible for you!
