Hi… my name is Chocolate,

Adopted August 15, 2016

Turns out that sometimes it does help to cry! I was found by a couple who heard me crying and discovered I’d been tied to a sign post near a mine test well. I was so glad to see those people! They brought me to TALGV, where, well, I don’t know how else to say it—the volunteers just love me! I was shy at first, I’m sure you can understand why, but even then they thought I was a sweet dog. Now we have fun together and they tell me I’m beautiful and adorable, so life is good except for one thing—I really need a home of my own, with people I belong to. I’m an 11-month-old chocolate and white Terrier mix, and if you make me yours, I’ll love you forever!

Thanks for looking at my pictures. My biography is under construction. Please stop back again to read about me or… even better… stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Kennels are open 10-2 every day.

Hi… my name is Cecil,

Adopted September 2, 2016

Ordinary things mean a lot. Like regular meals. I get nutritious food every day at TALGV, but before coming here, I was a stray for months, always hungry. Maybe that’s why I was found at Circle K, waiting for someone to drop something edible. Exercise is great, too—getting to share time with a volunteer on a walk. The best part is when they talk to me; I love being somebody’s friend. And, of course, shelter is important. I know what it is to be outside when it rains, or gets dark and scary. I’m a young Boxer male, who appreciates that it’s all good here, but one thing is missing. I want to belong to someone, to have a home and be loved. That’s my dream, and maybe you’ll make it come true!

Hi… my name is Lola,

Adopted 2-19-17

My brother, Chiquito, is a little bigger and braver than I am, but he assures me it’s okay to be shy—especially when you’re as sweet as I am. Granted, he’s my brother and loves me, but the volunteers tell me the same thing. Chiquito and I were adopted together; we happily moved to the country with our people, but we kept getting out. So we’re back at TALGV, knowing that we need close supervision when out in the yard and/or a dog-proof fence. I’m described as a “very obedient, good dog,” who loves chew toys, and knows basic commands like “sit, stay, bye-bye, and potty,” (though not all at once!). Every day, I dream of a wonderful life of love and comfort that’s given and received. Could you make my dream come true?

Hi… my name is Chiquito,

Adopted 2-19-17

I arrived at TALGV with some things I really didn’t want: cactus spines in my nose and mouth! After my sister, Lola, and I were adopted, our new people moved to the country and that’s apparently where I found the cactus. They loved us, but said we kept getting out and so in our next home we’re going to need either close supervision or a dog-proof fence! Sis and I are Staffie/Chihuahua mixes (that’s what they say!), and we’re good for each other; she’s a little shy and I’m strong in the moral support area. I also love to play with squeaky toys, and know basic commands like “sit, stay, and potty,” (though not all at once!). Won’t you please come visit and let me show you how great we could be together!

Hi… my name is Archer,

Adopted August 14, 2016

I’m a happy guy who’s got lots of living to do! Just 7 months ago, my siblings and I were born via a difficult delivery. Mom needed a rest, so we were taken care of by a surrogate mother—a wonderful and life-saving gift! We all did well and were adopted, but then things changed at my place. My person was moving and wanted me to have the benefit of a bigger place. Can’t argue with that—I do enjoy exercise, playing fetch, and love playing in water. Turn on the hose or fill a wading pool and we’ll have a grand old time! I’m a very loving Otterhound mix male, black and tan, housebroken, currently 40 pounds and growing.  How about we meet today and see how much fun we can have together!

Hi… my name is Candy (Ann),

Adopted October 8, 2016

Candy Ann has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

My beauty makes me stand out in a crowd—including my colorful ears (one brown, one white)—but it’s my personality that makes me lovable. The people I recently lived with described me as an “affectionate dog who loves people and cuddling.” I was friendly to all people, got along with another dog my size, nicely tolerated handling (including nail clipping), and listened well. People, toys, and my dog friends make me happy. And guess what? I’ve earned the coveted AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate for my awesome performance in the behavior department, so you know I’m a good learner! I’m a young adult female who’d love to be your faithful companion—out for a hike or in for a cuddle. Let’s meet today and find out what great times we can have together!

Hi… my name is Jojo,

Adopted 10-22-16

You could say my middle name is “loyalty,” because that’s my strong suit. Indeed, when asked about my good qualities, the first thing my person said was that I’m “very loyal.” He was loyal to me, too; when he lost his job and couldn’t take care of me anymore—although sad to let me go after our 4 years together—he brought me here for the chance at a new home. He said I got along with his cat, but didn’t care for men (although my person is a man). I’m currently in foster care, so please call ahead and we’ll set up a date to meet. Just ask for the handsome 5-year-old male with the sleek black coat and remarkable ears, who’s been dreaming of being in a happy forever home with you!

Hi… my name is Holly,

You know how some dogs “adopt” their people? Well, my best dog friend (probably my sister) and I found our finders. We arrived at their house and once they fed us, we didn’t leave! I’m sure you don’t blame us. We’re just 4 months old and nowhere near able to fend for ourselves. We arrived at the Animal League thin and dirty, but now that we’ve had our baths and two square meals every day, we’re gaining weight (up to 20-plus pounds!) and confidence. We still have lots to learn, but, fortunately, we’re each adorable (my sister’s word, but I agree), and if you’ve the patience to help me get over my shyness, I’d love to be your happy hound puppy! I’m the brown and white one, who’s really hoping to see you today.

Hi… my name is Mork,

Adopted August 6, 2015

My sister Mindy and I were lost puppies—barely more than babies—when some horses brought us good luck. (Probably life-saving good luck!) A man going out to feed the horses spotted us. We were very frightened, but he fed us and eventually was able to bring us here. I’m a Lab/Hound mix male—currently 29 pounds and growing—with a handsome rust-colored coat and very expressive brown eyes that might tell you what I feel even when I’m being shy. As we become acquainted with the volunteers, I’m relaxing more and more, playing puppy games with my sister and enjoying fun in the sun! If you have the patience for a puppy, I know we could have lots of fun, too. Could I get lucky again and find a forever home with you?

Hi… my name is Jude,

Adopted October 12, 2016

Before becoming a TALGV dog, I was a stray, taken care of at a truck yard. It wasn’t a home, but at least I had human contact there; although careful about human friends, I like people in general and back at the truck yard enjoyed greeting everyone who came to work. One special friend (who already has five dogs) appreciated my good dog manners, said I had “the sweetest disposition,” and brought dogs to visit me. How I loved playing with those dogs! Then I was brought here, so life has continued to get better for me. I’m a 2-year-old male with a beautiful tan, black and rust coat, about 55 pounds, who dares to dream that the best is yet to come—a home with a person to love. Could that be you?

Hi… my name is Kiara,

Adopted September 19, 2016

Dogs go all kinds of places with their people these days but sometimes humans are too busy for us, like my former person, who travels a lot and couldn’t take me along. The bright side is now I can find the right home for me and be the dog I’m meant to be—a loyal, happy, loving companion. I’m a sweet 14-month-old black and tan Lab/Shepherd mix female, a graceful 61 pounds, gentle with the kids in my last home, and very talented at chasing a ball. I’m calm but friendly, know some basic commands, and love car rides. I’d love to meet you and if we like each other—paws crossed we do—the best ride I’ll ever take will be when we go together to my forever home with you!
