Hi… my name is Damon.

I was adopted July 19, 2014.

I’ve led quite the peripatetic life of late! I lived with my young dad for most of my life, but when he could no longer keep me, he asked his parents to care for me. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a very well secured yard, and not being familiar with my new surroundings, I “took to the streets” now and then. In the end, however, my people agreed that they didn’t have the ability to give me the care I needed, so TALGV came to my rescue. I’m a truly handsome German shepherd mix boy who loves people and really needs to be around them a lot. I walk well on a leash, get along with other dogs, and am just generally a happy-go-lucky, want-to-be-with you kind of fellow. I’m fairly young, weigh in the neighborhood of 65 pounds, and I know I (and you) will be happy when we’re spending our lives together!

Hi… my name is Cooper.

When I arrived at TALGV, I was one sick puppy because I’d been living outside with lots of other animals and hadn’t gotten the nourishment or care I needed. After I got here, I received lots of attention and treatment to make up for it and soon turned into a bouncing baby boy. It didn’t take long for me to find a home, but the single woman who adopted me discovered that “puppy” was more than she had time for, so she felt I needed a place where there was LOTS more activity (and maybe another dog to play with). I’m a delightful young, light-colored brindle terrier/shepherd mix (with the most distinctive and soft coat!), and I’m full of all the pep, curiosity, and joy that teenagers are known for. My mom said that I’m playful, great with other dogs and kids, don’t shed or bark, so you could say I’m the “total package”!

Hi… my name is Sparky.

Adopted 10-6-18

Nature gave me the gift of energy! Even as I’ve grown up and now have some years under my belt, I’m still an extraordinarily lively, exuberant guy. I did have a happy home once—a mom, dad, two small kids, but when their living situation changed, no one had time for me anymore. They felt I deserved more attention than they could provide—especially from someone who could give me training and guidance. Okay, I’ve had some extra training now. And the good things my people said about me are true to this day: I’m a loving, playful guy who’s good on a leash, and loves walks and runs. (I also have a HUGE bark for my size; think “great watchdog.”) So if you’re active and energetic, too, we could be so great together!

Arrived November 17, 2013. Photos updated July 11, 2014.

Hi… my name is Dennis.

Adopted June 12, 2015

Standing in the middle of Continental Road wasn’t the brightest thing I’ve ever done, but actually maybe it was, as a wonderful couple stopped their truck and I jumped right into the back, so it worked out pretty well because I got to come to TALGV! I’m a tan, 55-pound, shepherd and Staffie mix boy, and they say I’m really a very sweet guy who loves people, gets along okay with other dogs (but not cats), so everyone thinks that I’d make a great companion for an active family that has time to devote to my education (and then to play!). My philosophy is that everyone needs a canine in their life, so I’m here to make that happen for you!

Hi… my name is Sweetie Pie.

Adopted April 12, 2015.

If they could have found a better name for me, I don’t know what it would have been! The wonderful lady who found me said, “She’s a super sweet dog who loves to kiss and will make a GREAT PET — I wish I could keep her!” She found me running along Continental Road near the Performing Arts Center and only had me a short time, but said I got along well with her Westie, knew “sit and stay,” and was a very grateful girl to have gotten out of the road. I’m a beautiful grey and white Staffie who is about 3½ years old, and although I had a lot of irritation on my feet when I arrived (probably from walking in the desert) and a few other things that needed attention, the volunteers here will see that I’m all fixed up and ready to move on in no time. Why not visit and see for yourself?

Arrived November 2, 2013

Hi… my name is Lila.

I was adopted May 19, 2014.

My “probably” sister, Leala, and I glommed on to a house in Sahuarita Heights at the end of September, and after the owner fed us for a few weeks and no one showed up looking for us, he brought us here to TALGV. He might have kept us forever, but he already had two other dogs (along with horses, which we never bothered!), so he figured he had a full complement of “dependents.” I’m a lovely young 50 pound Australian heeler mix girl. The volunteers said that I walk “pretty well” on a leash, am friendly with people, seem okay with other dogs (I’ve really bonded with Leala, so it would be great if we could go to a home together!), and am a very sociable girl. I’m “double-dog sure” that with just a bit of education I’ll be a grand addition to your life!

Hi… my name is Toby.

My family adopted me from a shelter when I was nine months old, and I lived with them for three months until it was apparent their resident female and I weren’t ever going to be the best of friends (but WAY on the plus side, I got along great with the two cats and kids they had!). So, that said, everyone is positive that I’ll make a wonderful companion for an active family where I can be “top dog.” I’m a handsome, young 53-pound, Staffie mix boy, and my dad says, “Toby is very cuddly, thinks he’s a lap dog, wants to please, and is a quick learner.” I’ve been to obedience school and know sit, come, let go, and wait — all really important commands for us canines to master, so I’m betting I’ll find a place of honor in your life in no time after you take me home!

Hi… my name is Bambi.

Adopted November 22, 2014.

I’m a beautiful red-gold shepherd/basenji mix girl who wants nothing more in life than to be your one true love. My preference in companions is humans of the adult kind — I totally love them. I lived with kids and other dogs once, and I found that I’d really prefer life to be just me and my people — going for walks, rides in cars, romping in a nice yard, and just generally hanging out.  I’m perfectly house trained, walk nicely on a leash, and know all the basic commands. So if you’ve had experience being the “leader of the pack” with devoted breeds like me, then I think we’d do just fine. Come on in and meet me and see if it’s meant to be.

Hi… my name is Harley.

I was adopted June 14, 2014.

You know siblings don’t always get along (I guess sometimes the human ones don’t either!), and that’s why I ended back at TALGV where I started out. My family adopted my brother and me together when we were puppies, figuring we’d be great pals. Sadly, as we aged, dominant personalities emerged in us both so life was not exactly serene for the family. I love people though, am a great watchdog, and have had obedience and crate training, so I really am a pretty well behaved guy when my brother isn’t around. I don’t do well with little kids (they are a bit too “grabby” sometimes), and I am definitely not a “water dog” (swimming pools and all that running around make me a bit jumpy), but with a calm (but active) family, I’ll be a model companion. Why not give me the chance to prove myself?

Hi… my name is Bundles.

I was adopted September 21, 2014.

Circumstances have dictated that my mom has to move to a tiny place where there won’t be room for my feline friends, Licorice and Swiper, or me. That’s really sad, because I’ve lived with her most of my life, and I really loved being with my two housemates, too. I’m a dark grey Schnauzer mix gentleman, who has been around kids and is very gentle with them. I know a few basic commands, love to play fetch and to run and play with you (my age is no detriment to my energy!), am a great watchdog (I lived outside a lot), and in general I’m a great companion. Although I don’t have perfect house manners, I know how to use a doggie door and am crate trained, so a little help in that area should be all I need to make me an your indoor buddy. Why not come see for yourself how sweet I am?

P.S. Because of my age I qualify for TALGV’s Senior Vet-Care-for-Life program.
