Jasper

Jasper is a sweet, quiet, and well-behaved 16-year-old, 17-pound Yorkshire terrier mix boy that needs a new home. He is housebroken and leash trained. He is in good health, is neutered and up to date on shots, but he has no teeth and cataracts cause limited vision. Jasper likes attention (and treats) but he is not a lap dog. He tolerates other dogs and cats if they leave him alone. He prefers to be around his adult owner and likes to know that his food, water and bed are nearby. I was found, along with my daughter, Morgan, roaming around a local neighborhood. I must admit, living rough was really hard for two gentle girls like us. Morgan was even attacked by a cactus. Then we were both rescued. When I first arrived at TALGV, I became the center of attention. I guess my short Basset body and my Shar Pei face pulled on the volunteers’ heartstrings. Naturally, I was lapping it up and spreading my attention and affection around. I know how to use the doggie door and I enjoy going for walks. I’m always happy to greet everyone who comes to visit. Just think, with just one phone call, you too could visit and your visit could very well become my forever home. See you soon!

A cactus is not my friend. I learned this lesson the hard way, while exploring a desert area with my mother, Sonya. When we were rescued, my first stop was a visit to the vet’s for cactus removal. After that uncomfortable experience we were re-united at TALGV, where I felt loved. I’m a friendly, fun-loving, gal that seems to like everyone. A quick bark or two to get your attention and I will roll over on my back so you can give me a belly rub. I can use the doggie door and I enjoy a walk with the volunteers. Please call for a visit so you can take in the whole package that is ME. You would be surprised how quickly these short little legs can carry me to YOU.

Now how can you not love this face? My pal Sherman and I arrived here due to a life change at home. I am an energetic happy-go-lucky guy who loves milkbones, carrots, and ice cubes. I am a petite Schipperke lady with soft, black fur. The breed is also known as Spitz, meaning “pointy,” and it describes my muzzle perfectly! But I want you to know that I am not sticking my tongue out at you; it just usually hangs out one side of my mouth, more like a signature look! I came here with my pal Jimmy because our Mom got sick. If you come to visit us, I will probably greet you at the door while Jimmy is a bit less outgoing and usually hangs back in the crate. At our ages, we won’t need much: love, some food, a bit of care. I was “living the dream” again, when my new mom died too, so I came back to TALGV. I crave attention (and crunchy treats, even though I’ve only got two teeth!), so I’m dreaming of someone who’ll show me that life can be the joy it was before.
