Max

Hi… my name is Max,

Adopted 3-15-18

Lovable? Check. Enjoys tummy rubs? Check. Laid back? Check. Enjoys other cats? Uh-uh. My sister and I were adopted from TALGV as kittens, but despite what everyone assumes about siblings getting along, that doesn’t always happen, and I have to confess that I was a bit of a bully. There was another male cat in the house that I sorta picked on too, so I guess I’m meant to just have human companions. But boy, with them I sure make up in spades for my “deficiency!” I love treats, am affectionate and playful (and dare I say handsome?), and adore being near you, so at just 3 years old, you know that we can spend years and years of quality time together!

Hi… my name is Willow,

Adopted 8-9-17

When my owner died, I was the only one with him. Fortunately, many animals are blessed with the ability to cope with such sad times. I stayed with him, grieved, and then accepted that he was gone. Now I’m here again—the same place that took me in after my puppies and I were rescued from the pecan groves three years ago! We’re kind to each other here. I can be quiet and a bit shy, but love the attention volunteers give me, enjoy walks with them, and appreciate the cozy bed. I’m a 5-year-old Catahoula Leopard mix female, housebroken, 55 pounds, and they sweetly call me beautiful, but you and I know the most beautiful sight is that place called home. I’m so ready to be happy again—could it be with you?

Hi… my name is Bentley,

Adopted with Petey 11-27-18

Bentley has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I have the handsome look of a Malinois, and true to that breed, I’m alert, intelligent, and capable of hard work—but if I could have a life of leisure, play and companionship with you, I’d be great with that! Playing with people friends or my toys is always fun for me. Mind you, I need to be an only dog; I lived with two other dogs and did not get along with either. But I have lots of excellent qualities that humans love: I’m leash-trained, “ask” to go outside, and good in the house even when you’re gone. Plus, I’m a good listener, energetic, and loyal. A Malinois/Shepherd mix male, I’ve earned my Canine Good Citizen certificate, and now I just want the chance to show you what a great buddy I’ll be.

Hi… my name is Louie,

Adopted 8-13-17

Sometimes things happen that you just don’t want to believe. I’m an adorable, small, 2-year-old Corgi/Border Collie mix male, who was found in the desert, tied to a thistle bush with multiple ties. It appeared I’d been there a while. People who hear my story just shake their heads, especially since I’m such a lovable guy! But you know what? I’m calling that “water under the bridge.” Today my life is happy and improving every day. I’m making friends, going for walks, playing with toys—my finder said I like playing with kids, too—and visitors often stop to say hello. Sometimes we make the happy connection—that thing that happens when you’re on the same “wave length.” I’d love to meet you, too, and who knows? We might decide we belong together forever!

Hi… my name is Rodney,

Adopted 7-16-17

Asked for one word to describe me, I’d choose “loving.” That may be surprising for a young, 71-pound, Rottweiler mix male, but it’s who I am—a sweet, easygoing, affectionate fellow who just happens to come in size large. (If okay with you, I might sit and lift my paw so you can scratch my chest, or gently rest my head on your arm.) The man who found me really wanted to keep me, but his other dog said no, which was a shame because I’m a peace-loving guy. Just ask my neighbors here, or the volunteers who walk me—they say I may not have had much leash training before, but I’m so cooperative, it’s easily done. Being your loyal, loving companion would be even easier, so let’s start today!

Adopted 7-28-17

KOLOHE is a smart and energetic 5-year-old, 52-pound mix of Shepherd, golden lab, and black mouth cur male who needs a new home because people who have owned him for 3 years have to be away long hours and don’t have much time for him. They would like to give Kolohe the opportunity to be in a home where he can have more attention and possibly a dog buddy. He is neutered, in good health, and is up to date with his shots (medical records are available). He loves rides and is obedience trained – knows many commands in both English and Hawaiian. He is leash trained and needs outdoor exercise, play time, and companionship to keep him content. He is very quiet and will hide to escape thunderstorms. Kolohe gets along with female dogs and most male dogs unless they are large and dominant; tolerates owner’s cat; kids are unknown. He does not get on furniture; he sleeps on floor in owner’s bedroom. There is no adoption fee. If you will welcome Kolohe into a loving home as part of your family, please call Pamela between 12 and 6 PM at 520-631-1863.

Hi… my name is Dice,

Adopted with Chance 9-2-17

I guess someone had gambling (or the lottery!) in mind when my littermates, Chance, Keno, Slots and I were named! We were just wee little things when we arrived so went to live with a foster mom until we “made weight” and could come to TALGV to show off our wares. Well, we’ve been languishing here for too long now because there’s so much kitten “competition,” but spend some time with any of us (just hunker down and let us “do our purr thing” in your lap!), and you’ll wonder how we got overlooked! “Kitten” pretty much says it all, so why not take two ‘cause we’d be twice the fun!

Hi… my name is Diamond,

Adopted 5-20-18

Yep, I definitely am a “diamond in the rough!” It’s pretty obvious that I’d spent a lot of time living in the not-so-great outdoors ‘cause when I was brought here after being trapped (it didn’t take much coaxing!), my coat was dull and rough, I had lots of “battle scars” from taking stands against evildoers, and hadn’t been neutered yet (at 3 years of age!). But with all that, I still have a totally sparkling personality, absolutely CRAVE attention and petting, and want so very badly to have a real home and my own person. I was named for the white “diamond” on my chest, but it turns out to be a positively apt one, so why not let my sparkle shine on you?

Hi… my name is Sunny,

Adopted 7-7-17

My young life has improved by leaps and bounds since I came here. That’s been great because my beginning was bumpy. My brother, Windy, and I were found as babies but already very dirty and matted. And in my case, my left eye was not developed. Fortunately, the doctor has tended to that and since I’d never had that eye, I don’t miss it. And now I’m ready for the happy, carefree life of a puppy—napping, eating, playing, followed by more napping, eating, playing. Learning puppy lessons is important, too, and confidence really helps—the kind you get when someone loves you just for being you. I’m a female, probably a St. Bernard mix, 13 pounds at 7 weeks, and I’ll love you just for who you are when you love me, too.
