“She’s extremely friendly and ridiculously cute! She is very well behaved, seeks to be petted, and responds well to instruction.” That’s what my mom’s son said about me when he very sadly had to bring me to TALGV. Mom passed away a while ago, and the family couldn’t keep me, but since I’m such a sweetie, they just knew that it wouldn’t be hard for me to convince another family that I should be an integral part of their lives! I’m a happy, gentle, 7-year-old, Australian shepherd mix lady who has lived with another dog, know basic commands, and will undoubtedly be the light of your life. If you’ve ever owned (or been owned by!) an Aussie, you’ll know what you’re in for — total head-over-heels adoration!

It’s pretty sad when my name, Isis (which means giver of life and magic), had to be changed because of a group of extremists, but the connotation is so bad, pretty much everyone agreed. I lived with my dad (and two other cats, Hokmah and Sehkmet, who I wasn’t all that fond of!) for most of my life, and he said that although I’m a shy lady, I did enjoy playing with laser lights and ball toys, and sleeping in a “fort” he made of sheets for us (what a great guy!). I’m a beautiful solid black lady, and as a senior I come with TALGV’S Free Vet Care for Life. I loved my dad dearly, so would be awfully happy if I could continue that tradition in another peaceful, caring home.

When my family brought me home to live with their teenage kids, three cats, and three other dogs, they found that the dogs tended to overwhelm me (although I enjoyed the kids and the cats), so decided I’d be best as an only canine. At heart, I’m a playful gal and love playing ball and with my Kong, and while initially I’ve been a bit anxious here, every day I’m getting more comfortable with the routine. The volunteers say that when you interact with me one-on-one, I just light up and focus on how best to please you. I’m a black Lab/Staffie mix, only about 11 months old, so there’s still a lot of puppy there just ripe for molding into what everyone wants in a housemate: pure perfection!

If you’re looking for a “true” rescue story, then lend an ear to the tale I have to tell about my two friends Candy, Claus, and me because we’re shining examples of what a difference a little (well, a LOT!) of attention, care, and good food can make! We were rescued on Sahuarita Road when a Good Samaritan stopped, opened his car door and we all gratefully piled in. We each had serious cases of mange, were undernourished, frightened, and were in urgent need of care. Well, that was before Christmas, and after many weeks of that loving care, we’re all turning into gentle, laid back dogs who want nothing more in life than safe loving homes where we can strut our new stuff! Oh, and we come with TALGV’s Free Vet Care for Life, too!
Arrived December 20, 2014.

Hi… my name is Boots,
Adopted December 14, 2015
Boots comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.
Just because there’s a little grey on my face, doesn’t mean there isn’t still a lot of spring in my step! After my dad died, I was at sixes and sevens ‘cause we were together all our lives, but now that I’m here, I’m showing everyone how much I adore affection. They say I’m especially enamored of belly rubs and behind the ear massages, and I love demonstrating my mastery of “sit” and “down” commands. I walk nicely on leash, but since I’m not overly fond of other dogs, I do tend to pull a bit when encountering them (they think I’m just being protective of my “person”). I’m a senior Lab mix lady (so I come with Free Vet Care for Life), who is definitely ready to be back in a home setting!
Arrived February 2, 2015.

PRECIOUS is a beautiful and sweet 2-year-old boxer who was found in the desert with her 5 puppies. New family is unable to keep her, but recommend her to a family since she loves children. She knows sit, come, stay and fetch. She is housebroken but spends her time outside now because of finder’s unwelcoming dog. Her shots are up to date, and she will have a certificate for spay courtesy of TALGV. She seems healthy but needs to add weight because of her puppies (3 of which have already found homes). Precious is leash trained, loves car rides, and would love to share your company and the warmth of your home on these cold winter days and nights. There is no adoption fee for Precious.
If you would welcome Precious into a loving home as part of your family, please call Donna between 8 AM and 8 PM at 520-484-3844.
