Animal League News

Hi… my name is Chloe.

I was adopted on April 12, 2014.

After my senior mom’s husband died, her kids kindheartedly gave me to her for company. I began life with her as a fairly small puppy, but, as these things go, I quickly developed into an 18-month-old, high-spirited teenager, got a lot bigger (well only 30 pounds!), and became “too much” for her. She taught me lots of commands though, and being an Australian cattle dog, it took no time at all to learn them, so for you people out there who think my breed is just the best there is (I certainly think so!), I promise that I’m going to be the dog of your dreams. I love people, am GREAT with kids, well behaved, and am a happy-go-lucky gal who wants to share all the joie de vivre I have with you!

Hi… my name is Shelby.

I was adopted July 12, 2014.

My “winter visitor” family adopted me from TALGV four years ago when my first owners relinquished me because of their health problems. I’ve made the annual trek back and forth to New Hampshire with them (and my best friend, Madi) ever since, but they now feel that the trip is too much for them with two fairly big dogs. I’m a delightful shepherd mix lady who just wants to be part of the action with you. So…if you’re looking for a leash- and house-trained “cuddler” (according to my mom) who loves to chase balls, play with other dogs in the dog park, knows lots of commands, and will be the love of your life, then that would be me! Come find out for yourself!

Hi… my name is Madi.

I was adopted July 21, 2014.

My “winter visitor” family adopted me from TALGV four years ago when my first owners relinquished me because of their health problems. I’ve made the annual trek back and forth to New Hampshire with them (and my best friend, Shelby who was recently adopted) ever since, but they now feel that the trip is too much for them with two fairly big dogs. I’m a delightful (albeit a bit shy), black Lab/shepherd mix lady who just wants to be part of the action with you. So…if you’re looking for a leash- and house-trained “sweetheart” (according to my mom) who loves to chase balls, play with other dogs in the dog park, knows lots of commands, and will be the love of your life, then that would be me! Come find out for yourself!

Hi… my name is Bonnie.

Adopted December 28, 2014.

So you say you like “interesting” dogs? Well, I’m guessing they don’t get much more eye-catching than me! I’ve definitely got Shar Pei ears going on, along with a bit of a husky mask and shepherd body. Wouldn’t it be fascinating if they always did DNA tests on canines so you’d know? In any case, I’m one lovely girl who was found as a stray (sadly, that’s a pretty big club), but even though I was pretty frightened when I arrived, the volunteers say that I now get along great with people, walk well on a leash, and am using my doggie door like a trooper. They think I’m a “few” years old, and I weigh about 30 pounds, so with just a bit of education, I’ll be a well-behaved and loyal friend.

Hi… my name is Bandita.

I was adopted May 22, 2014.

When my family moved to a new house, they said there wasn’t enough room for my two feline friends and me in addition to their dogs and parrots! My suggestion, of course, was to rehome the dogs and parrots instead of us, but they didn’t listen to me! Well my two friends have found homes in a flash because they’re exotic Egyptian Maus, but I can tell you that I’m just as special as they are — particularly if you love Tuxedos like so many humans do! My people found me as a kitten 4½ years ago (and although I’m an “adult” lady now, I still love games and toys!), and they said that I’ve always been very lovable and a “great family pet,” so I’d like to continue that tradition with another family that isn’t planning to move any time soon. How about yours?

Female – Shorthaired Tuxedo

Est. Age: 4½ yrs – Arrived 3/5/14

Hi… my name is Dolly.

Adopted November 23, 2014.

I arrived with my sister, Polly, in 2007 after we’d been found abandoned. It wasn’t long before we went to live with our mom and life was glorious until she died unexpectedly. A neighbor took us in, but when our relationship with her dogs declined, we came back one more time. Polly has found a home of her own, so now it’s just me, dreaming of a family that will bring joy to my life, too. I’m approximately 8½ years old (so I come with TALGV’s “Free Vet Care for Live Program”), am perfectly trained and as is characteristic of my breed, I’ll be the most loyal and protective of companions. I’m a black, 55-pound, Chow mix and have great expectations that I’ll be able to brighten someone else’s life for the holidays.

Dolly comes with TALGV’s FREE “Vet Care for Life” Program.

Hi… my name is Becky.

Thanks for looking at my pictures. Please come back soon to see my story. Meantime, I can tell you just a few things about me… I love to walk with you and adore having my tummy rubbed. I am a very good family dog but don’t get along well with other animals.  Why not stop by TALGV and meet me soon!

Hi… my name is Maxine.

Adopted with Ceazar on May 16, 2015

My mom and dad got divorced and mom had to move to an apartment, and then to top it all off, dad lost his house, so there was no room for my lifetime companion, Ceazar, and me to stay with them. I’m a 62-pound German Shepherd mix lady who is housebroken, leash trained, and gets along with other dogs and cats. I’m gentle and obedient, and know lots of commands and because of my age, qualify for Free Vet Care for Life. I get a little carsick sometimes and those summer thunderstorms make me anxious, but other than that, I’m the perfect, laid-back companion. Since I’ve always lived with and depend on Ceazar, TALGV has agreed that we should go to a new home together. I’m a mellow, well-mannered girl (Mom said I was a “real joy”!) who needs a quiet home where I can be your new best friend.

Hi… my name is Aleka.

Adopted July 8, 2016

The people who found me in their yard kept me for about six weeks, but they already had other cats and dogs, so I guess they decided they’d already reached their “critter quotient.” (I got along with all of them though, so it wasn’t that I was antisocial or anything!). I’m very friendly with everyone, but I’m not a real lap-sitter or cuddle bunny. I do love to play and be around you, so if you’re looking for feline-type entertainment and a sit-by-your-side friend, I can do that in a minute. I’m a lovely young solid black, shorthaired girl (not a whole lot of grooming needed!) so come see what a sweetie I really am!

Arrived February 10, 2014
