Animal League News

Hi… my name is Roxie.

Adoptd December 10, 2014.

When I was rescued a few years ago, I lived mostly outside and hadn’t learned all the fine points of indoor living. Well, “baby, you should see me now”! I’m a shepherd mix girl who’s been living with a foster family that says, “Roxie is now the perfect indoor dog. She has NEVER had an accident in the house. She’s happiest when she’s with her person, loves attention, is good with any size/personality dog, (fairly quiet!) children, and seems uninterested in cats. She is a tad leery of men, but is receptive if a woman is present. She loves to give kisses (she’ll lick the makeup off your face!), and is in a Canine Good Citizen class. She’s a totally wonderful ‘made to order’ dog!” So with those credentials, plus I come with FREE Vet Care for Life, how can you go wrong?

Tux

Hi… my name is Tux.

Adopted 11-9-16

Tux comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

The volunteers say that I’m way overdue for a home of my own! I’ve been at TALGV since 2009, and am a totally handsome, longhaired Tuxedo gentleman who is that in every way: I’m gentle, never use my claws, have a soft voice, adore laps and petting, like to help with household chores, and even enjoy assisting you with crossword puzzles if you’re of a mind! I actually did go to live with a family once, but the resident cat and I had our “differences,” so I’m hoping for a home where I can be the only feline in your life. Not to toot my own horn (but who else will?) – I don’t think you’ll find a better addition to your life than me! And I come with Free Vet Care for Life – so there!

Hi… my name is Callie Sue.

Adopted December 6, 2014.

We cats sometimes get attached to a “place” as well as our people, and when things change, so might we. I lived with my mom and dad for three years, and everything was hunky-dory until they moved here and my house manners took a bit of a nosedive, so I’m hoping one more change of scenery (and some good house manners examples at TALGV) will give me a whole new outlook on life. I’m a stunning, longhaired calico lady, who knows how to walk on a leash (so I’m safe and can’t chase birds!), will “put up” with a non-aggressive dog (but would rather it be “just me”), and don’t like kids much, but other than that, I’m a downright quiet and loving lady. So won’t you give me just one more chance!

Hi… my name is Harleigh.

I was adopted on May 25, 2014.

My dad went into a memory care facility and my long-time girlfriend, Honey, and I were left alone in our home for several weeks. We had a yard and a doggie door and a neighbor who came to feed us, but we were still awfully lonely so we were really glad when TALGV came to our rescue. We’re living with a foster mom at the moment, and she really thinks it important that we be adopted together because we’ve become so dependent on each other. I’m a 56-pound Border collie mix lady who is in terrific shape for my age (I still love to play ball — a border collie trait if there ever was one!), and if you’ll let me, I’d like to sleep on the bed with you, too! We’re both housebroken, good with kids, and just generally laid-back girls, so I know that we’d be a great addition to any family.

P.S. Because of my age I qualify for TALGV’s Senior Vet-Care-for-Life program.

I’m on a Jennie Craig diet at the moment, so when I get back down to a “misses” size, I’ll be able to snuggle with you even more! Harleigh and I are both housebroken, good with kids, and just generally a laid-back girls, so I know that we’d be a great addition to any family.

Hi… my name is Tala.

I was adopted July 29, 2014.

I arrived at TALGV as a kitten, was adopted by a warm-hearted older man in no time, and we had a wonderful life together until he died. I stayed with a friend of his afterward, but she had four cats and we just never got along. I then went to live with a single lady for a while, and she said that I was lovable and adored attention, loved playing with strings, small toys, and those fascinating rings from milk cartons. She had a cat, too, and although we got along “okay,” she said that I’d prefer being the only feline in the home. Like all cats, I do need to stretch my legs, so since I’m an indoor-only kind of gal, I’m hoping you have a cat tree or scratching post or two where I can do my daily calisthenics. If you give me that (and love!), I’ll give you lots of the same in return!

Hi… my name is Pepper.

Adopted August 28, 2015

Pepper comes with Free Vet Care for Life.

After many years, my owner moved and was unable to take me, or my sister, Sierra, with her. We’re beautiful shepherd mix females who were assigned to guard our home, but when our “job” wasn’t needed, we lived outside in a small yard. We are both very outgoing and responsive, come when called, obey the “go to bed” command, and even though we’ve been outside dogs, we’ve proven ourselves here in respecting our “home area” by using our doggie door, so I know we’d be happy finally being indoor/outdoor dogs! We don’t “do” other dogs or cats well, but we’re super people and kid friendly. We’ve been together all our lives, so if you have space and a big heart, you’ll be rewarded with two awesome companions and protectors (who come with Free Vet Care for Life!).

Hi… my name is Rosa.

Siblings are SUPPOSED to get along, but I guess there are times even with humans when that isn’t so! My sister and I were adopted from TALGV when we were puppies, but when she started seriously picking on me, I decided that the dogs next door were much nicer companions, so I went to visit them (over the fence!) every day. Well, bringing me back got a bit trying, so my people decided I needed a new home where the dogs were gentle and peaceful like me. I’m beautifully behaved, am smart as a whip, know lots of commands, and am an all-around wonderful girl. I’m a black Lab mix girl who loves people, but have never been around cats or kids. I’m the kind of gal who wants to be near you during thunderstorms, but then I like to be near you all the time, so won’t you give me one more chance at a happy life?

Hi… my name is O’Sirrus.

Adopted December 24, 2014.

“New person in home is allergic.” I wonder how many cats have heard that? Wouldn’t it be great if the pharmaceutical industry could develop a simple, one-time, “get rid of pet allergies” shot for humans! I lived with my family, including one kid and two dogs, for several years, and they say that although I’m not the hunkering-down lap-sitting type, I’m a friendly guy who does like to be next to you on a chair or the sofa (and in bed sometimes!). I’m also a real “looker” with long, black and white “Tuxedo” coloring, am about 7 years old now and still looking for that celebrated “forever” home. Won’t you prove to me that it’s really not a dream?

Hi… my name is Baby Cat.

Adopted February 7, 2015

You can really get attached to someone after living with them for eight years, so you’ll forgive me if I’m a little on the reserved side at the moment. My mom had to move to an assisted living place near her family in Kansas, and as is the case most times, my housemate, Mama Cat, and I couldn’t go along too (she found another home with a wonderful family, so I’m hoping that one of these days it will be my turn!). I’m a lovely calico lady, and after bit of a “settling in” time I’m sure I’ll make friends pretty easily. I’ve never been around children or dogs, so I think that another home with a quiet, older person or couple would be just right. I know there are a lot of felines to choose from here, but I’d be ever so grateful if you’d give me a second chance!

Hi… my name is Velma.

Adopted April 8, 2014.

Don’t you HATE allergies? You hate them if you have them and you hate them when you’re the cause of them — and that’s my story. I lived with my family until their youngest son developed a sensitivity to me, so that’s why I’m now looking for a new home. Sadly, I really loved playing with the kids, so being so close to them probably exacerbated the problem. I also shared the house with a dog, and I’ll tell you up front that I’d REALLY rather not have to live with another one of those critters — they are just too “nosy” if you know what I mean! I’m a quiet and laid back ebony lady whose favorite things are “playing with toys and sleeping,” so I’ll either be entertaining you or be snuggled up next to you, take your pick! Just think what a great match we’d be!

Hi… my name is Miss October,

Adopted 9-17-17

After my dad died, my mom went into a senior facility, and a sweet lady brought me here but she didn’t know much about me. Turns out I’m a beautiful, friendly, laidback, medium-haired solid black lady who will greet you when you visit and play with you if you bring me one of those enticing dangly toys. I love to have the occasional romp, but I also love to just hang out with people. I really want (and need!) a loving home where I can cuddle to my heart’s content and have a few toys of my very own that I don’t have to share so much! I’ve been here quite a while now (too long in my estimation!), so won’t you help me move on with my life?

Arrived September 28, 2012
