Animal League News

Hi… my name is Willow.

(Note: Bio needs revision.) You may have heard about how my puppies and I were rescued in the pecan groves. Well, I’m here safe and sound now, and of course with all the notoriety (and their cuteness!), the puppies were adopted like wildfire, but since I’m an adult, I’m not getting quite as much attention from visitors. The volunteers have made it their mission to teach me all the things that we canines are supposed to have “under our belts” so that I’ll be the perfect companion. I’m a beautiful Catahoula Leopard dog mix lady who now knows what it’s like to get “three squares” a day and lots of love, so everyone’s certain that it won’t take long for me to find a loving home with an active family.

Hi… my name is Sherman,

Adopted 7-8-17

I was a lost dog no one knew. My rescuer saw me wandering a cul-de-sac and brought me here, where people started noticing the special things that make me who I am. First, I’m young—about 10 months old, and a nice size—28 pounds (slender and athletic looking). I’m probably a Shepherd mix, definitely a male, and—even when my ears perk up—a real handsome guy. Although shy at first, I let people pet me, and soon my confidence started to grow. I became the real me—friendly, sweet, and lively. I’m learning how to walk on a leash and other important stuff, but here’s a secret: I’m still a little lonely. I so much want to be the most special thing I can be: Somebody’s dog. Could you be my somebody?

Hi… my name is Brave,

Here’s me according to my mom: “Aggressive with cats and small animals, but okay with medium/larger dogs. Loves to play with all kinds of toys, mice, lasers, and stuffed animals. Very vocal and affectionate with people he knows and will follow you around the house like a dog.” And since I’m a Bengal cat, I might also add that I’m an athlete: agile and graceful with a strong, muscular body, as befits a cat that looks as if he belongs in the jungle (that’s from my breed “specifications” on the Internet!). But I didn’t just make that up – I am all of those things and more, so come meet me to see what a wonder we “jungle cats” can be!

Hi… my name is Bellhop,

Adopted 7-3-17

Here are just a few of the great things my mom’s daughter said about me: “He stayed by my mom’s side all through her cancer treatment and was very social, gentle, and loving with her. He slept by her every night and followed her everywhere. He’s a very good eater – not at all picky – and will play fetch with his toys. He gets along great with kids and elderly people and is the perfect companion.” So I guess you can gather that I’m a pretty special fellow! I’m a 7-year-old Snowshoe Siamese mix and although I’m really sad to have lost my mom, I know that you and I can form a bond just as strong as we had. You’ll never know unless you take me home, so get a move on!

Hi… my name is Sundae,

Adopted 6-12-17

My siblings and I were born and found living under a trailer. Our little spot was in the shade, but not a place where we could grow up, and the person nearby already had several dogs. So we came here; happy, fun-loving puppies ready for life’s next big adventure! We’re already very good at puppy things—eating, playing, rolling on top of each other—and with time, patience and attention from loving people, we can also become good at the things that will someday make us delightful, well-trained grown-up dogs. (In the meantime, we expect to have lots of puppy-people fun, too!) I’m a black and tan female, 8.8 pounds at 7 weeks and growing, probably a Shepherd/Terrier mix. You may like all puppies, but please say I’m the one you want for keeps!

Hi… my name is Sara,

(bio needs update)

I’m a lucky dog who got a second chance at life! My future was in jeopardy and then, just in the nick of time, I was rescued by someone who saw what a great dog I am and stepped in to save me. Turned out her landlord doesn’t allow pets and so she couldn’t keep me, but in my time with her, my rescuer found me to be “amazing.” She said that I love people—which I really, really do!—and was good with children (ages 7 and 9). Plus, I didn’t bark (!) and responded to “sit,” “stay,” and “lay.” I’m a beautiful brown and white Staffie female, 2-1/2 years old, and I’d be ever so happy to share my lucky second chance at life with you. Please ask to see me today.

Hi… my name is Thor (aka Sleet),

Adopted with Loki 6-10-17

My brother, Loki, and I were adopted as puppies into a family with small children, cats and dogs, and we got along with all of them! But now our family is expecting another baby and moving to a place with a smaller yard, so we’re each looking for a new home and people to love. I’m an 18-month-old male, light brown with a white chest, and an athletic build—somewhat slender but tall. My former family said I let the kids lay on me and even pull my tail; guess that says a lot about my gentle, generous nature. Sure, I can bark, but I’m basically a peaceful, welcoming guy; when the volunteers pet or brush me, I’m content. Could you and I make each other happy forever? I’m guessing the answer is yes!
