CARMELITA is a friendly and well-behaved 18-month-old, 35-pound, Hound/Terrier mix female who needs a new home. Adopter found her but does not have room to keep her. She walks well on leash and is crate trained. She is in good health, spayed, up to date on shots and medical records are available. She sits to be petted, asks to go out, and likes playing with her toys. Carmelita is good with other dogs and cats; children are unknown. She will love having attention and learning how to be your best friend. There is no adoption fee. On a warm September evening, our brave and beautiful mother gave birth to my siblings and me right here at The Animal League! She’d been found and brought to TALGV just two days earlier, so we were very lucky to start our lives in this safe and comfy place. Since then, we’ve been busy growing, learning—including how to walk on a leash—and playing. We’ve had all kinds of fun playing together and with human friends, but now things are changing. Most of my siblings have found their new homes and I’m hoping it’s my turn very soon. I’m a fun-loving, beautiful Staffie mix female, ready to go home with my forever family. Months ago, I was one of seven little puppies brought to The Animal League in a cardboard box! Since then, I’ve been growing, learning, and having fun, but there have been a few disappointments, too. First, a family member’s allergies, then an older dog didn’t want me around, and now my current family is going far away. What’s a people-loving dog like me to do? Put my best paw forward, of course. My former people said I was good with children, housetrained, liked playing with a ball, and understood the words “sit,” “lay down,” and “go outside.” I’m a big, active puppy who loves to give and receive attention, and really wants to belong to someone. How about we meet real soon and find out if we could be a happy family together forever.

I’ve been asked to tell you my story and I’m glad to do it. I’m a dog. I like having a job. There’s just one problem. I was found running down a busy road and I don’t remember much before that. For now, I’ll just say a big thank you to the kind woman who stopped for me and brought me safely here. Since then, I’ve made lots of new Animal League friends. One of them taught me how to “sit” on my first day! Another time, I solved a dog puzzle and was told that I’m as smart as I am handsome! Did I mention I’m just 1 year old?
