Animal League News

Hi… my name is Earl,

Adopted 10-17-22

After we were found, my mom (Ella), sister (Erin), and I were brought to The Animal League to help find our forever homes. I’m an approximately 4-month-old Black Mouth Cur/Staffie mix male. Erin and I probably get our good looks from both mom and dad. Mom is with us, waiting for us to find loving homes of our own. It will be hard leaving my family, but because mom did a good job rearing us, I know I’ll do great. From what Erin hinted (her words) we’re both “full of oats and ready to take on the world.” I suppose that means we’ve reached an age for knowing how to behave and learning some basic commands that will help in the future. I’ll need your patience, but mostly I’ll want… YOUR LOVE!

Hi… my name is Otter,

RAINBOW BRIDGE 11-29-22

Benji and I came to TALGV because our mom can no longer take care of us. Now we are looking for a new home where we can stay together. Both of us have used a doggie door in the past and have been good when left alone in the house. We get along with other animals and also with some kids, but we like our peace and quiet if you know what I mean! We like to take a walk here and there, but nothing too strenuous. Like most of us older folks, we do have some health issues, but we come with vet care support for life, so no worries there. If you are looking for two sweet companions to cuddle with, can you come to meet us soon?

Arrived with companion Benji 5-20-22

Hi… my name is Noga,

Adopted 6-5-22

I’ve recently been a visitor at TALGV, but due to all the twists and turns in life, I’m now a resident, at least until I find my new home. I’m an energetic, playful, 4-year-old Akita mix, who sees the world through two different colored eyes. Many people consider this “undeniably beautiful.” I’m strong and somewhat athletic (can easily leap over a 4’ fence). I need some help with my leash training, and if you’re patient with me, I’ll respond to the “sit” command. I’ve enjoyed being around children and other dogs, but NEVER cats! I behave in a car and love going for rides. My name is of Hebrew origin and means “morning light.” Please, just look me in the eye and consider how THIS “morning light” could brighten your home and life.

Hi… my name is Martin,

Adopted 6-4-22

I am a handsome fellow who wears three white shoes and one white sock. Compact, not too big, not too small, I look a bit like a Rottweiler and a bit like a Chihuahua. (What? You can’t see the Chihuahua?) I may come across as standoffish at first. That’s because not all the people I’ve met were nice. But since I am sure you are, just give me a bit of time and you’ll see my true colors. No—not brown, black and white! But sweet, fun-loving, and loyal. I am learning commands, too. I know “sit,” and “wait,” and I’m starting to understand how to politely walk on leash without pulling. I like learning stuff. Makes my brain work, you know? When we go home together, will you teach me more?

Hi… my name is Bruce (boy),

Adopted 2-8-22

Bruce Boy has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Are you a loving, compassionate person who has no other pets in your home? If you can answer yes, then you may be that special person I’m looking for. I’m a sweet friendly boy, who comes with high praises. I’m crate trained, walk well on a leash, love people, and have excellent house manners. I earned the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate so I know the commands: “sit,” wait,” “down,” “heel,” and “leave it.” I’m also a confirmed couch potato, but I’m always ready for a walk  or ride in the car. Now, getting down to the nitty gritty, I was recently diagnosed with cancer. I would really love to spend what time I have left in a loving home with a caring person to share it with. Please be that special person!

Pua

Hi… my name is Pua,

Adopted 11-7-21

Don’t let my name fool you! Since pua is Samoan for “flower,” you may think I’m of the female persuasion, but I’m actually a four-month-old male Terrier mix puppy. I’m lucky to be staying in a good foster home that comes with a rather large year-old pup as a playmate. My foster mom reports that I’m a happy, affectionate, loving boy who’s in the process of learning what potty training is all about. I’m getting better, but not quite there. Hey, I’m just a puppy! Besides I already know how to sit and come when told. My “mom” also mentions that I’m smart and easy going and just need more puppy training. I do enjoy a friendly, comfortable lap, and in my opinion it’s the perfect place to be. Do you have a home (and lap) available for me?

(Note: Pua means “flower” in Samoan)

Hi… my name is Bellhop,

Adopted 7-20-21

Once upon a time, I lived with my senior mom and was a great comfort to her when she was ill. After she died, I came to TALGV and I must admit that not having her in my life was traumatic for me. Eventually I went to live with another older person, but things didn’t work there either, so I’m back hoping to find another home where a new “cat person” will be patient and understand that I’ll need time to adapt. I’m a handsome 11-year-old Snowshoe Siamese gentleman, and I know that with gentle attention (and no dogs around) we can form a bond just as strong as my mom and I had before.

Hi… my name is Luna,

Adopted 6-6-21

I’m a gentle, tolerant girl who loves to run, play catch, and cuddle. Even though previous experience has left me somewhat between timid and shy, you can still see that sweet, loving dog I’ve always been. I do accept but don’t readily return affection. It takes a little more time and patience to earn my trust. Like they say, “slow and easy does it.” Once trust is established, you’ll be rewarded with my engaging and sweet personality. I nimbly jump into and out of cars; I’m the perfect passenger (I don’t try to drive). On a leash, I pay attention to what my handler expects of me. I’m curious about other dogs, but I don’t engage. I do have an ongoing medical condition, but with my special kibble and your special love, life can be good. How about sharing that good life with me!

Hi… my name is Rebel,

Adopted 6-9-21

I can be a bit timid when meeting someone new. It takes some patience for me to feel comfortable around you. Once I am, you will be pleased with the results! I’m easy going and I think you’ll find me quite affectionate. I’m not easily distracted, and I stay focused and attentive to my handler. I walk excellently on a leash and ride very well in a car. Someone called me a “plus size girl.” I have no idea what that means, but I’m sure it’s a compliment. It was also mentioned I need a firm handler. I not only “need” but also “want” a forever home. You may not “need” a dog, but I know you will “want” this dog…ME!
