When you hear my name, you may think of truffle chocolates. My short chocolate coat is beautiful, but even more captivating are my handsome amber eyes that speak without barks. I was found at a construction site and have skills that make me a good companion. I am good on a leash for many walks with you. I am a cooperative quick learner who will benefit from training by you! Since I am only one year old, I do get curious. I am also quite calm and friendly in a pleasingly gentle way and am always up for cuddle times. Some volunteers describe me as “exceptional” so please come to see how “exceptional” I am.

I was found by Circle K, across from Walmart, off Duval Mine Road. Pretty specific, eh? But how did I get there? We don’t know. And since I’m such a charming, handsome fellow—modest, too—we know I was meant to be found! (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.) But, seriously, I’m very grateful to be here. And I admit to being a little starved for human attention. When visitors come see me, I want them to stay! It’s so great to have a kind, friendly person’s company. I’m an energetic 1-1/2-year-old, about 54 pounds, and right now an active life is great for me. If I wiggle when we meet, it’s just because I’m so happy to see you. And if I can add fun to your life, I’m all yours!

Honey Crisp

My siblings and I have been through some serious experiences—found as little babies in the desert, then some of us requiring medical attention—and now we’re all set for those just-for-fun adventures from the puppy perspective. Not that we’ve forgotten that puppies are supposed to learn stuff, too—things that are very important to our people, so we all need someone with the patience and time to teach us. If you’re one of those people, I promise to remain adorable as I grow and learn. We all appear to be a Chihuahua/Terrier mix; I’m one of the girls, brown with lots of white on my front paws, shoulders, a bit on my nose, weighing in at 8 pounds as a 3-month-old. How about we meet, fall in love, and go home together forever!

I was found on Duval Mine Road, so maybe I was trying to find the Animal League. Fortunately, my rescuer brought me here and I’ve been making new friends ever since. The volunteer who did my intake physical exam described me as “adorable.” (High praise from the person who took my temperature!) “Soft, and easy,” she added. One of the walkers described me as “peaceful,” and when you visit, you might say good things about my calm, friendly nature. I do enjoy activity and since I’m a social guy, sharing that activity with my people is top of my list. At 84 pounds, I’m a big Chocolate Lab mix male with a big heart to match. And since I’m just 2 years old, we could go down many happy trails in our future together.
