Hi… my name is Penny,

Adopted 10-28-18

Everyone knows that cats have diverse interests, but my mom said that catnip toys, catching bugs, and playing in my water bowl were my enduring favorites! I’ve lived with a dog and other cats (although I wasn’t crazy about them), but mostly I loved spending time next to mom in a chair so she could scratch my ears, head, and chin. She said I do tend to overeat (not a problem limited to cats!), so she fed me small portions of food a few times a day so I was always “full” (she wasn’t fooling me, I knew she was reducing my caloric intake!). I’m a lovely 7-year-old chocolate lady who’d love to diet and watch TV right along with you!

Hi… my name is Windy,

Adopted 7-6-17

My young life has improved by leaps and bounds since I came here. That’s been great because my beginning was bumpy. My sister, Sunny, and I were found as babies but already very dirty and matted. We were shy at first; I even wanted to hide. But after a little time, I discovered this is a safe and comfy place, and now I’m ready for the happy, carefree life of a puppy. You know—napping, eating, playing, followed by more napping, eating, playing. Learning puppy lessons is important, too, and confidence really helps—the kind you get when someone loves you just for being you. I’m a chocolate brown male, probably a St. Bernard mix, 14-1/2 pounds at 7 weeks, and I’ll love you just for who you are when you love me, too.

Hi… my name is Pookie,

Adopted 5-8-17

You could say my mom, Snookie, and I arrived here via a winding road. Along the way, there was a divorce, a move, and a friend who couldn’t keep us. Fortunately, we’re both calm and easy-going; we took these changes in our stride. I’m 2-1/2 years old, a compact medium size at 45 pounds, with a chocolate brown coat and the remarkable Shar Pei wrinkles and adorable face. (Mom and I’ve literally stopped traffic here at TALGV because people wanted to see us up close, and you want to know a secret: I kinda love that!) I’m friendly, good on a leash, and have inherited my mother’s sweet disposition. If you think I’m special, I think you’re even more so, and will be happy being your loyal companion for a long time to come!

Hi… my name is Stella,

Adopted 2-15-17

There’s the song “Stella by Starlight,” the book Stellaluna, the famous movie cry “STELLA!,” and then there’s me—Stella, the beautiful chocolate Hound mix female. I’m 15 months old, about 50+ pounds, and was much loved in my former home, but they soon found they were too busy for me. In our short time together, they said, I was very smart, friendly, and playful; “absolutely a sweetheart” and “very gentle” with the kids,” “warmed up nicely to our cat,” and walked well on the leash, although I do need a strong person on the other end. I like squeaky toys, will sit for treats, am crate-trained, and if you’re my person, I’ll always try to please you. Best of all, I have a very loving heart. Will you let me give it to you?

Hi… my name is Chocolate,

Adopted 2-12-17

There aren’t enough animal shelters in the world to go around for needy animals, and when one closes, it just makes things harder for everyone. Fortunately, TALGV is able to take some of us in when they have space, so I’m happy to report that several of my compatriots and I are now safe and looking for that elusive “forever” home. The wonderful lady who brought me here said, “Chocolate was an abandoned cat and has always been inside with us. She likes a lot of rubs and back scratches, but doesn’t get along with children. She is a lovely girl who wants to be an only child.” Well, I’m here to second that motion and tell you I’ll be eternally grateful if you’ll make me your “one and only!”

Hi… my name is Chocolate,

Adopted August 15, 2016

Turns out that sometimes it does help to cry! I was found by a couple who heard me crying and discovered I’d been tied to a sign post near a mine test well. I was so glad to see those people! They brought me to TALGV, where, well, I don’t know how else to say it—the volunteers just love me! I was shy at first, I’m sure you can understand why, but even then they thought I was a sweet dog. Now we have fun together and they tell me I’m beautiful and adorable, so life is good except for one thing—I really need a home of my own, with people I belong to. I’m an 11-month-old chocolate and white Terrier mix, and if you make me yours, I’ll love you forever!
