Animal League News

Hi… my name is Chocolate,

Adopted August 15, 2016

Turns out that sometimes it does help to cry! I was found by a couple who heard me crying and discovered I’d been tied to a sign post near a mine test well. I was so glad to see those people! They brought me to TALGV, where, well, I don’t know how else to say it—the volunteers just love me! I was shy at first, I’m sure you can understand why, but even then they thought I was a sweet dog. Now we have fun together and they tell me I’m beautiful and adorable, so life is good except for one thing—I really need a home of my own, with people I belong to. I’m an 11-month-old chocolate and white Terrier mix, and if you make me yours, I’ll love you forever!

Hi… my name is K.C.

Adopted August 13, 2016

My siblings and I were born right here at The Animal League! When Mom was expecting, volunteers guessed she’d have three babies, maybe four, but on May 20th—12 days after Mother’s Day—she gave birth to six of us! Yay for Mom! Of course, back when we were really tiny, eating was the biggest activity of the day. And it’s still important, but now we’re playing, too—running and tumbling—and exploring the great big world. (At my size, everything is great big!) I’m one of the boys, dark brown with white markings, and when I meet new human friends, we often find each other irresistible! I’m in foster care right now, but my friends at The Animal League can tell you more about me, and we all invite you to visit today.

Hi… my name is Cammie,

Adopted July 3, 2016

I’ve experienced some tough changes in my young life, but now my future looks bright! Previously, when living with a homeless person, I was struck by a car, crushing a back leg, which had to be amputated. Today, I’m well and looking for a new home! I enjoy taking long walks on my three legs, and foster mom says I’m really sweet and just want to please. I don’t chew up stuff, am totally house trained, know lots of doggie commands, and not scared by noise or lightening. Because I love people and other dogs, she thinks I’ll fit in nicely with a happy family or someone active looking for a great companion. I’m a beautiful chocolate and white 2-year-old Pointer female, and if you believe in happy endings, I’m the dog for you!

Hi… my name is Delila,

Adopted August 21, 2016

Here’s what they knew about me when I was found with a crudely lettered note: “Two years old, very sweet, very pregnant, her name is Delila.” Not a whole lot to go on, but they got it all right – I was/am all those things! I lived with a wonderful volunteer until my babies were weaned, and she said, “Delila is an absolute love. She adores being brushed and scratched, is crazy for belly rubs, and will sleep above your head and warm yours ears on cold winter nights [I was found in February!]. She’s black with a beautiful chocolate undercoat, so we’re thinking she’s a Chantilly cat.” Well, I’m very special in any case, so why not make my foster mom’s day and give me a home as wonderful as hers was!

Hi… my name is Elfie,

Adopted December 14, 2015

There’s no nice way to say this: My brothers and sisters and I were dumped. We were left out in the cold and filth with only each other for comfort, lucky to get food from a kind stranger. I don’t want to even think what might have happened if TALGV hadn’t come to our rescue. Thankfully, the vet who examined us said we’re remarkably healthy. Also, the volunteers think I probably had some okay human interaction before being abandoned because I’m friendly and comfortable with people. I’m a Chihuahua mix female, deep chocolate and white, with the sweetest little face. Imagine how grateful I’ll be for a comfy, carefree home with someone who’ll love and care for me forever. I’ll be the best little companion you could want! Won’t you take me home today?

Hi… my name is Godiva,

Adopted December 22, 2015

“She loves my kids and is the sweetest thing.” That’s what the woman who found me told TALGV, and the volunteers agree wholeheartedly that I’m sweetness on four paws. I’d been lost when I wandered into that lady’s garage, so I was relieved to find a kind stranger. And now, after being a little shy at first, the real me is shining through—friendly, glad for company and to go on walks, and very tuned in to people who give me some attention, which means I’ll be eager to make you happy, too. I’m young, 18 months old, mainly chocolate brown with some white, and a nice medium-size Boxer mix female. I’d be a great addition to most households, so how about yours? Could be the best place for us is together!

Hi… my name is Bagheera.

Adopted November 6, 2015

When you saw my name did you remember that that was the name of the Black Panther in Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book? Well, don’t feel alone, my biographer didn’t either! I had a “behavior problem” when my family’s new baby arrived because I’d been happy with the status quo (except that the resident Alaskan Malamute scared the dickens out of me!), so everyone agreed that in a quiet, dog- and kid-free home I’d revert to my former perfect habits. I’m an extraordinary “chocolate” lady (that coloring is rare and highly-sought-after in the cat world apparently!), am declawed and have lovely golden eyes to set off my coat. I’ve been waiting here a while now, so won’t you please take a chance on me?

Hi… my name is Red Velvet.
Adopted August 29, 2015

I’m such a nice guy, you just know I’ve gone down some happy trails. But, somewhere along the line, I also became acquainted with that awful word “lost.” Lucky for me, I was eventually found—hard to miss at 98 pounds—and brought to TALGV. Those who’ve met me say that I am well trained (I like to think I’m what humans call “smart,”) and just naturally easy-going. I’m a handsome chocolate brown Lab mix, and at 6 years of age I’m not a pup anymore, but I’m glad to say that lots of humans are fine with that. If you are one of those people, please come for a visit. If you’ll let me, I would love to join you on that happiest trail of all – the one that leads to home.
