Hi… my name is Asdis,

Adopted 2-24-17

Yeah, well, it is a strange name, but when you learn that it’s Icelandic for “goddess,” then you’ll agree it’s pretty appropriate! And it’s pronounced just like it looks, unless you’re British, and then you’d call me “Ahz-deece”! And now you probably know more than you want to about my name, so on to the more important issue of me! I’m a totally delightful longhaired tabby (some say I look like a small Norwegian Forest Cat, so maybe more on the “Nordic” theme!), who’s a typical sweet, curious, active, love-everyone girl. My mom discovered she was allergic to me shortly after she became pregnant, so although my 10 months with her (and her dogs) were great, now I’d like to spread the joy. How about with you?

Hi… my name is Vanessa,

Adopted 3-6-17

Here’s some of what my rescuer said about me: “Vanessa was born on Memorial Day 2016. She will let you pick her up and pet her (although she acts indignant about it!), her favorite toy is a crumpled up piece of tin foil, and she can be a (playful!) ‘head batter’ at times!” I was always an outdoor cat (along with a whole passel of others), but fun as that might have been, that just wasn’t safe for me, so now I want a nice warm indoor home where I can turn my attention to a human or two instead of those little furry creatures called mice! At my age, I’ve got lots of living and loving to do, so why not help me discover the joys of a real home with you?

Hi… my name is Smoke,

Adopted 1-7-17

There aren’t enough animal shelters in the world to go around for needy animals, and when one closes, it just makes things harder for everyone. Fortunately, TALGV is able to take some of us in when they have space, so I’m happy to report that several of my compatriots and I are now safe and looking for that elusive “forever” home. The wonderful lady who brought me here said, “Smoke is a calm easygoing cat who lived outside in our Sanctuary garden. She is a very nice, loving girl who could use some extra attention. Living in the garden, she didn’t get a lot of hands on.” Well, I’m here to second that motion and tell you I’ll be eternally grateful if you’ll do that for me!

He lived outside in the front entry so would love to have some extra TLC.” Well, I’m here to second that motion and tell you I’ll be eternally grateful if you’ll do that for me!

Hi… my name is Emmett,

The wonderful lady who brought me here said, “Emmett is a healthy, strong boy who is a very loving, nice kitty but wants to be leader of the pack, so should probably be an only child. He lived outside in the front entry so would love to have some extra TLC.” Well, I’m here to second that motion and tell you I’ll be eternally grateful if you’ll do that for me!

Hi… my name is Keke,

Adopted 11-19-16

“Landlord issues” and “moving” often don’t spell happiness for pets! When my dad had to move, my two best canine friends (a Staffie and a Chihuahua) and I had to move on,too, but unfortunately not with him. Dad said that the Chihuahua was “my baby” so I’ll bet that I’d do fine in a home with another small friend to nurture (in addition to you, of course!). I’m keeping a low profile for a while (change is hard for cats, you know), but I know in a new home, I’ll be ruling the roost in no time. If you’d like the privilege of making my dreams come true, won’t you come meet me so I can whisper sweet nothings in your ear? You won’t be able to resist!

Hi… my name is Turvy,

Adopted 2-1-17

There are accidents and then there are accidents! I somehow succeeded in injuring my tongue so badly that it required having part of it removed. It turns out that I’ve managed to compensate though “with a little help from my friends.” I do need to have only wet food so that I get the moisture I need, and I can drink water from a fountain, but dry food will always be a “no-no.” I’m able to groom myself fairly well, but need an occasional swipe on my face and body with a wet washcloth to spiff me up. My mom, who had me for a year, said that I am a playful, sweet lap cat who loves cuddling from anyone, so that surely more than offsets my “deficiency!”

Hi… my name is Gabriel,

Adopted 2-27-17

My humans decided to go their separate ways when their “life circumstances” changed (I’m not sure what that means, but it sure was a big change for my friend, Joshua, and me!) we ended up losing our home too. I’ve always been a “mama’s boy,” preferring her to the “man of the house,” but Joshua and I got along great – playing and sleeping together in a living room chair. Since my life has changed so precipitously, it might take me a while to warm up in a new situation, but I know once I feel safe and loved, I’ll be your constant companion (with Joshua along it might be easier for us both!). I’m a declawed, 8-year-old who’ll thank you every day for, as the ABBA song goes, “taking a chance on me!”
