Hi… my name is Pretty.

dopted October 5, 2014.

It’s amazing what miracles a little love and patience can work! I had been “living rough” in Arivaca for several months, relying on the kindness of strangers for food. After the volunteers rounded me up and brought me here I was pretty frightened for a while, but as the weeks have gone by, I’m finding that life (and the humans who go along with it) really can be grand and am coming out of my shell more each day seeking attention. I’m a small shepherd mix girl (they think I might have some Kelpie in me, too),  and if you spend a bit of time sitting with me you’ll see that all I really want is a safe home and a loving family that I can shower with loyalty and gratitude.

Hi… my name is Cane.

Adopted July 26, 2015

Cane has earned/received his American Kennel Club (AKC)  Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification.

My well-meaning family rescued me when I was three months old, but since they’d never had a dog before, raising a puppy was a lot more than they could handle and after six months finally decided I needed a more structured home where I could get consistent training and lots of attention. Well, I’m SO happy to report that now that I’ve been at TALGV for nine months that has happened in spades! I have been trained to sit, down, wait, will roll over for a treat, and have earned my Canine Good Citizen award — WAY more than just your run-of-the-mill obedience certificate! I’m a polite 18-month-old Pointer/Staffie mix boy who totally ADORES kids, and I just know that I’m going to be the loyal and loving companion you’ve always fancied.

Hi… my name is Cookie.

Adopted  December 29, 2014.

My brother, Chico, and I lived with our dad and his fiancée all our lives, but when they parted two years ago, he left us with her hoping he would be able to come for us when he got settled. That didn’t happen though, and since our mom worked long hours and was moving, she couldn’t keep us any longer. So for all you “Chihuahua people” out there, we’re both available to add a little spice to things for you. We hadn’t been getting a lot of attention lately, so we’re really hoping for a “homebody” with whom we can share our affection. We don’t “do” kids well, so an older, settled adult would be perfect. We’re 9 years old and have tons more living to do, so why not join us for the ride?

Hi… my name is Chico.

Adopted January 1, 2015.

I lived with my dad and his fiancée all my life, but when they parted two years ago, he left me with her hoping he’d be able to come for me when he got settled. That didn’t happen though, so for all you “Chihuahua people” out there, I’m a wonderfully sweet gentleman who’s available to add a little spice your life. Although the volunteers here are giving me as much attention as they can (it’s pretty crowded here, and I’m not getting as much as I’d like!), so I’m so yearning for a “homebody” with that I can lavish my affection on. I don’t “do” kids well, so an older, settled adult would be perfect. I’m 9 years old and have tons more living to do, so why not join me for the ride?

Hi… my name is Sasha Jo.

Adopted October 3, 2014.

My family rescued me from a shelter over five years ago, but now they’re moving into an apartment and can’t take me with them. They had nothing but wonderful things to say about me, like I’m an easy rider with a calm temperament, like toys, to sit in the sun, and am a very well-mannered girl who is good in the house, a great watch dog, and LOVE belly rubs. What more could you want in a gal? I’m a beautiful shepherd/Shar Pei mix (note the ears!), who got along fine with “my” 8-year-old grandchild and other animals. I know a few basic commands (but am eager to learn more if you have the inclination!), know what “no” means, and well, I’m practically perfect if I do say so myself! Come find out for yourself!

Mia

I was adopted by my finder on September 20, 2014.

MIA is a gentle and loving 2 ½-year-old female boxer mix who was found in early August on the roadway in Sahuarita. Finder took her in and was pleased to discover that Mia is fully housebroken and good in the house, is okay with the cat, likes to ride in the car, and is very social and loving to all people. She is up to date on shots and will be spayed soon with help from TALGV. Mia is a 43-pound “velcro” dog who wants only to please and be with her people. It might be preferable if she is the only dog. There is no adoption fee for Mia. To arrange a meeting, please call Susan between 8 AM and 8 PM at 520-648-3746.

Hi… my name is Jessie.

Adopted October 11, 2014.

I’m really happy there are people out there hiking around Elephant Head, because that’s how my brother, James, and I ended up here. We were sitting at the DeAnza trailhead when he left and when he came back, so I’m glad he didn’t think leaving us was an option! If you know Australian cattle dogs then you’ll know we’ve got smarts galore, and in addition to that we’re loyal and loving. I’m a little laid back (especially when my brother’s around!), but when it’s just you and me, I’m a real lover. I’m yearning for a family and an active life, so if you’re into that, let’s get together!

Arrived August 13, 2014.
