Fox

Hi… my name is Fox.

If you’re looking for an interesting mix of breeds in a canine buddy, take a gander at me! I’m a Corgi/terrier gentleman (with emphasis on “gentle”!) who, after living with my family for ten years, has lost his home. They are moving to a place that doesn’t allow pets (that should be against the law!), so it’s a good thing TALGV was here or I’d REALLY be homeless! My people said that a while back there were other dogs and two kids in the house, but lately it’s been just me and my older mom and dad. They said that I’m perfectly housebroken, love to play tug of war, fetch, will run around for hours, and then want to sit with you and get lots of petting. Oh, and since I’m 11 years old now, I qualify for TALGV’s “vet care for life” program, so what’s stopping you from making me your own?

Hi… my name is Elliott.

My first family found me when I was about 9 months old, and although they really wanted to keep me, they already had another dog in addition to two teenagers and just couldn’t afford another mouth to feed (even if mine is small!). I went to live with a really nice couple a few months ago, and they said I was very sweet boy who loves to sit in your lap, sleep with you, and play with my ball and stuffed toys. Unfortunately, they both started new jobs recently, and they weren’t home enough to give me the attention (and “continuing education”) I needed, so once more I’m dreaming of my perfect place in life. No one is quite sure of my origins, but it appears that I’m either a young Manchester terrier or Mini-pin mix, so if you have time for me, I sure do have time for you!

Hi… my name is Sashi.

Adopted October 31, 2014.

Sashi has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certification.

Since I arrived last year, the volunteers have learned a lot about me, and I’m now especially proud to announce that I’ve earned my AKC “Canine Good Citizen” certificate (you can check all the things that qualified me for that on the Internet — just Google it!). They also say, “Sashi is a gentle girl with spurts of energy, and loves running outside in a fenced enclosure.  She needs plenty of regular exercise and would love an energetic family. She loves chew toys, tends to be docile, is attentive to children and loves to play with them (but sometimes prefers just being a couch potato!). I’m a 3-year-old, 47-pound tan and white Whippet/Staffie mix and I know with love, patience, and encouragement I’ll be a model friend and one of the best things in your life!

Arrived December 22, 2013.

Hi… my name is Roscoe.

I was only here at TALGV for a few days after I was found when a couple adopted me as a holiday present to each other. Sadly, I turned out to be “too rambunctious” for my disabled mom, so after just a few days, I came back. Although they think I’m about 2 years old, I’m still very puppyish and love playing with practically anything just to be active. While I was in their home, my adopters said that I was “good with everybody,” slept all night, ate well, and was a sweet guy — just too much for them to handle. I’m an endearing Chihuahua mix boy who does need some lessons in house manners (and basic obedience, I guess), but after you’ve invested a bit of time in that, I know that I’ll be your constant companion. What do you say — let’s try to work something out so that we’ll both be happy!

Hi… my name is Gibbs.

When I arrived at TALGV, my siblings were christened the “NCIS” litter, thus my name. Being the charmer I was, it wasn’t long before I was adopted and went to live with a young couple with two teenage kids. Although they didn’t have any other pets, I was around a lot of other animals, and my people said I got along great with them. I’m said to be gentle and tolerant, housebroken, and know basic commands (I’ve never had any “professional” training, so that might be a good thing for me). My people said that I’m very lovable and listen well, but need someone who will be home a bit more (their pet sitter moved away and there was no one to care for me when needed, so it got pretty expensive in a boarding kennel). I’m a young, black and tan Rottie/heeler mix boy, and I’m sure I’ll make this year one to remember!

Hi… my name is Sasha.

I was adopted June 11, 2014.

I was found in October in the desert by my “mom’s” co-workers and since none of them could keep me, she took me home. She had every intention of keeping me forever, but she had to move to a new place that didn’t allow pets. She said I’m really a sweet girl who loved to play in the water with her kids (although as a puppy, sometimes I got a little rambunctious, but a firm “no” got me to stop right away). I’m “mostly” potty trained (I need a little extra outing at night), and I know that with a little education, I’ll have all my ABCs down pat. I’m a charming young tan and white Staffie and Boxer mix girl (my “learning skills” are getting swifter by the day!), and I’ve got high hopes I’ll get to spend the New Year admiring the view from my new home and yard!

Hi… my name is Dennis.

Adopted June 12, 2015

Standing in the middle of Continental Road wasn’t the brightest thing I’ve ever done, but actually maybe it was, as a wonderful couple stopped their truck and I jumped right into the back, so it worked out pretty well because I got to come to TALGV! I’m a tan, 55-pound, shepherd and Staffie mix boy, and they say I’m really a very sweet guy who loves people, gets along okay with other dogs (but not cats), so everyone thinks that I’d make a great companion for an active family that has time to devote to my education (and then to play!). My philosophy is that everyone needs a canine in their life, so I’m here to make that happen for you!

Hi… my name is Toby.

My family adopted me from a shelter when I was nine months old, and I lived with them for three months until it was apparent their resident female and I weren’t ever going to be the best of friends (but WAY on the plus side, I got along great with the two cats and kids they had!). So, that said, everyone is positive that I’ll make a wonderful companion for an active family where I can be “top dog.” I’m a handsome, young 53-pound, Staffie mix boy, and my dad says, “Toby is very cuddly, thinks he’s a lap dog, wants to please, and is a quick learner.” I’ve been to obedience school and know sit, come, let go, and wait — all really important commands for us canines to master, so I’m betting I’ll find a place of honor in your life in no time after you take me home!

Hi… my name is Harley.

I was adopted June 14, 2014.

You know siblings don’t always get along (I guess sometimes the human ones don’t either!), and that’s why I ended back at TALGV where I started out. My family adopted my brother and me together when we were puppies, figuring we’d be great pals. Sadly, as we aged, dominant personalities emerged in us both so life was not exactly serene for the family. I love people though, am a great watchdog, and have had obedience and crate training, so I really am a pretty well behaved guy when my brother isn’t around. I don’t do well with little kids (they are a bit too “grabby” sometimes), and I am definitely not a “water dog” (swimming pools and all that running around make me a bit jumpy), but with a calm (but active) family, I’ll be a model companion. Why not give me the chance to prove myself?

Hi… my name is Bailey June.

My family (which included two kids ages 10 and 12) said that I’m “very playful, loving, and cuddles a lot,” so that gives you an idea of how much I like critters of the human kind. My canine housemate, however, was a different story, and he and I didn’t get along well at all, so if there’s a home with an active family out there that’s missing the companionship of a devoted friend, then I know I can fill that void! I’m a tan and white Staffie mix girl, who, although I spent a good deal of time outdoors, would very much like to be a part of your everyday life indoors, too. Being still very much a youngster, you know that I’m chock full of energy and eager to learn new things, so I know I’ll have the basics of indoor living down in a flash. Why don’t you be the one to teach me?

Hi… my name is Rafferty.

I was adopted on June 30, 2014.

There are lots of interesting places between Esperanza Boulevard and Duval Mine Road, but I was too close to Interstate 19 to be able to check them out before a lovely lady picked me up and saved me from anything bad happening. Where I came from is a mystery, but in the short time she had me, she said that I had a sweet disposition and the volunteers here seem to agree. Although I can be a bit shy on first meeting you, I warm up to people really quickly. I’ve had a run all to myself for a while, so they’re still working on finding out my “social skills” with other dogs, but I’m doing pretty well walking on leash so I’m sure all my other qualities will become evident in no time. I’m an interesting young Boxer/terrier mix with black/tan/brindle coloring, so come meet me and see how terrific I am for yourself!
