Animal League News

Hi… my name is Richard,

Adopted June 12, 2016

When I was hanging out across from Anza Trail School, I wasn’t planning to enroll, but I was glad to see people. I was lost. Fortunately, a nice lady spotted me alone there and took me home overnight. When she brought me here, she reported that I’d gotten along with the other animals in her home (2 dogs and 2 cats), and was gentle and tolerant with children. Guess you could say I was a very nice guest, and now I’m hoping to be a lot more than that to someone special. I’m a 4-year-old white Poodle mix male, just 12 pounds, and I’d be ever so glad to be your lifelong companion. Please visit today and let me show you how we can share love and happiness for a long time to come.

Hi… my name is Snowflake,

Adopted 1-16-17

At first glance, you might think whoever named me was one of those comedians who call fat people “Tiny!” Well, that’s actually not the case, ‘cause if you look a little closer, you’ll see that I do have a smattering of “snowflakes” strewn across my black fur so I guess they were actually being clever! I was wandering the area around The Peaks for several months before a kind lady began to feed me, and it took a while for me to warm up to her, but once I did, she said I just loved being petted (especially my ears!) and really seemed to want to come inside. They think I’m about 2 years old, so with lots of living still to do, I really want to put the itinerant life behind me!

Hi… my name is Kolamoche,

Adopted 3-25-17

Kolamoche comes with FREE Vet Care for Life

It’s a well-known fact that “special needs” cats are almost always extraordinarily sweet and oh-so-special in many ways! In my case, a wound in my eye necessitated its removal (they could have left it in, but I would have needed eye drops for the rest of my life, so with it gone, I’m “good to go” with just one!). I arrived at TALGV with some of my friends from a shelter that was closing, and although it was a long trip for us, we’ve all settled in and are ready to move on to real homes for the first time in our lives. I’m a loving, laid-back Manx lady whose credo is “if you never give up, good luck is sure to follow.” C’mon, make that happen! Oh, and I come with Free Vet Care for Life!

Hi… my name is Missy,

Adopted May 29, 2016

I was found with my Terrier friend Sissy—two young pups running loose. I won’t say we were running free because when you don’t know where to find your next meal, clean water, or a safe place to rest, you don’t feel all that free. But we did stick together and her company made me happy. I’m super friendly by nature and not just with a dog buddy. I really like people, too; sometimes I even try to show it with a great big smile! I’m about 26 pounds, a brown and white Hound mix female, and I’d love to show you how much fun I can be. At just 7 months old, I’ll be your happy and loyal companion for a long time to come, so please let me into your heart today!

Thanks for looking at my pictures (taken April 10). My biography is under construction. Please stop back again to read about me or… even better… stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Kennels are open 10-2 every day.

Hi… my name is Coda,

Adopted July 5, 2016

My striking red (or rust-colored) coat may catch your eye, my handsome face and alert ears may catch your attention, but my biggest hope is that my personality will catch your heart! I’m very interested in people—maybe that’s why I’m a quick learner who already knows commands like “sit,” “stay,” “bed” and “off.” Here at TALGV, I’m working hard to learn even more to be the best dog I can be. My former owner said I was great by myself, but can be dog selective and so I probably need to be your only dog. I’m a fit and lively 4-year-old Shepherd mix male, about 52 pounds, leash and crate trained, and I have good house manners. Come for a visit and I’ll tell you more about how we could be happy together!

Hi… my name is Tristan,

Adopted 1-10-17

You just never know where you’re going to land when you jump a fence! I was exploring a neighborhood in Madera Highlands when I hopped into a nice lady’s yard and the next thing you know, here I am! (Given that I’m one of the friendliest, purriest, guys around, I probably belonged to someone who didn’t realize the perils of the free-roaming life for cats and is now ruing my loss). Even though TALGV is the “Taj Mahal” of shelters, truth be told, since I’m a lover of the first order (like my namesake in the opera!) I really want to share that with humans not just other felines so why don’t you help me be sure my story has a happy ending?

Hi… my name is Meow Meow,

Adopted June 15, 2016

When my mom, her five kids, and my feline housemate moved in with her boyfriend, I seem to have taken an instant dislike to him and my previously impeccable manners took a bit of a nosedive. But Mom said before then, I was a totally gentle, sweet little girl who got along great with the kids, was extremely friendly, lovable, and adored lying on my back so she could give me tummy rubs. I can be a bit of a night owl (but so are most cats!), but it’s just to get your attention and let you know you how much I care, so won’t you please give me a second chance? At my tender age, I have years and years ahead of me to set your life aglow.

Hi… my name is Mr. Duke,

Adopted 11-19-16

When I first arrived here, I ran out the door a couple times because I thought my family left me behind accidentally. Turned out they had moved to a rental home and couldn’t take me with them. We’d been together since I was a puppy 7 years ago, so this is a big change for me, but fortunately I’m a real friendly guy who’s ready to meet some great new people. I’m a handsome tricolored American Foxhound mix male, about 100 pounds. I’m leash trained but my companion walker should be strong like me. My former owners said I’m lovable and loyal. I’d be so glad to show you up close and personal that I’m just that—lovable and loyal—and will give you all my best if you’ll let me be yours.

Hi… my name is Tuxedo (aka Tux),

Adopted October 7, 2016

When your bona fides include “affectionate, mellow, not demanding, adapts well to all situations, no health problems, and wonderful companion,” then you know that you’re going to get a real winner when you adopt me! My dad had to move to another one of those “no pets allowed” places (they ought to be outlawed!), so now I’m on the lookout for another family to wow with my gentle and loving ways. As a 7-year-old boy, I’m really just getting started in life, so I’ll bet we could spend years and years getting to know each other and making many happy memories. I know I’m ready, so I’m double-daring you to come by, meet me, and see if you can resist my charms!
