Rio

Hi… my name is Rio,

Adopted 1-2-17

Oh, if I could, I’d gladly tell you about my life and why I’m at TALGV. But all I know for sure is that I was left behind. It’s okay, though, because the people here are very good to me, and I’m loving their company. I was scared at first, but now I enjoy the daily walks, the volunteers who stop in to play or give me a back rub (really!), and the excitement of visitors who say nice things about me. I’m a happy 3-year-old Dogo Argentino mix female, about 45 pounds, white with faint spots, and often wearing a smile because I’m cheerful by nature. I’m playful, too, and eager to be your friend. If you’d like to add some joy to your days and mine, I’m so ready to be yours!

Max

Hi… my name is Max,

Adopted August 17, 2016

Along with my shepherd buddies Tim and Lady, I’m learning there is a big wonderful world out there! Before being taken in by TALGV, we lived in kennels our entire lives, so you can imagine how excited we are when given the chance to experience life outside the kennel. We need help learning to relax around new people, but I’ve discovered it’s so worth it, especially when that person gives belly rubs and ear scratches. I’m a Shepherd mix male, roughly 70 pounds, black and tan with touches of white, and only about 2 years old so I’ve got lots of living yet to do. How about you help me become the best dog I can be and I work hard at being your faithful companion, and we take our future happy trails together?

Hi… my name is Bruce.

Adopted 6-16-17

Although I may not be a purebred Border collie (something else good is “going on” in there!), I have many traits of that breed (smart as a whip, energetic, and loving) and I need a “job” to do to keep my mind (and body) occupied! My people adopted me two years ago when I was just six weeks old, and they thought they’d have lots of time for my education, but with four kids ranging in age from 13 years down to 10 months, I sort of got short shrift on that score. But I’m ever so willing to learn, and I’m hoping for an ACTIVE family who has had experience with guys like me who can channel my energies into the good kind of behavior. I’m perfectly housebroken, and mom says that I’m a sweet dog who is tremendously lovable, so I know with just a few months of focused attention and training I’ll be perfect!

Hi… my name is Riley,

Adopted April 16, 2016

Three years ago, I was lost and a family took me in. I’m grateful to them for those good years, but now some new issues, including my owner’s need to have surgery, mean I must go to a new home. Could I be so lucky as to once again find someone who’ll play fetch with me, let me play in the water, and sleep next to their bed? Volunteers here say yes because there are lots of wonderful people who’d love a great dog companion like me. I’m a charming 6-year-old Lab Retriever mix female with a beautiful red coat, who knows “come,” “fetch,” and loves to play. My TALGV friends are helping me address my overweight issue, and I’m focused on a happy today, hoping this is the day you’ll make me yours!

Hi… my name is Chiquita,

Adopted 3-13-17

One evening, shortly before sunset, my friend Chico and I were left in a small wire crate outside TALGV—a terrifying and nearly defenseless position for two little dogs. Who knows what might have happened overnight, but, fortunately, someone spotted us in time and took us inside. As you might guess, we were each leery of people at first, but turns out that here they’re offering only good things, like food, a soft bed, and gentle affection. I like going for walks with one of my new friends, and I’m learning that together we can relax, play, and enjoy each other’s company. I’m a spirited, slender, tan and white 3-year-old Chihuahua mix female, who’s hoping you’ll welcome me into your heart and home today. With me, you’ll have your own joyful Chihuahua love forever!

Hi… my name is Riley,

Adopted 10-24-16

Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” and that’s what has happened for my friends, Mango, Moses, Bookstore, Ben, Petro, and me. Although our starting point wasn’t exactly that far away, we did come quite a distance in order for TALGV to save us from a shelter that is closing. It’s taking us a while to settle in after our long trip, but if you just spend a few minutes with us, you’ll see how much we’re all longing for human companionship and interaction – especially that wonderful ear and chin scratching! And purr? Well, let me tell you! We’re all “yearlings” who have tons of time ahead of us to be able to fill your heart and home with love – one purr at a time.
