Hi… my name is Chad,

Adopted with Chase4-1-19

So far, life hasn’t been a big bowl of cream for my brother Chase or me. After our dad died, someone thought they were doing a good deed by leaving us outside and feeding us, but after a few months, we became more defensive, as there were so many threatening things out there. Once upon a time I was a very sweet guy though, and with the help of the volunteers, I’m coming around. I love to be brushed and have my head scratched and will happily take a treat from you, so I’ll bet in a nice quiet home the “old me” will come to the fore. Everyone feels that is would be easier for us to adjust if Chase and I were adopted together, so this is my plea for you to give us a chance!

Hi… my name is Mario,

Adopted April 23, 2016

The AKC describes Boxers as “fun-loving, bright, active and loyal.” If you come for a visit, I’ll try to show you I’m all those good things and more! I’m a handsome 9-month-old Boxer male, just shy of 70 pounds, with a short, fawn-colored coat. I was given to my previous owner by a coworker, but then he found out he can’t have dogs where he lives. The good news is that there are lots of people who love Boxers or would love one given the chance. Of course, I’m hoping to meet someone who wants me especially and will welcome me with open arms. I’m a playful, happy guy who’s eager and quick to learn, and will bring a lot of Boxer fun to your life. I say the sooner we meet, the better!

Hi… my name is Ruff,

Adopted March 16, 2016

I wish I could start with “once upon a time” because my TALGV friends say I look like a dog with an interesting story. But all I know is that I somehow ended up alone in a local park, and even though I was pretty dirty (I’d probably been wandering for a while), a kind gentleman put me in his truck and brought me here. I was so shy someone carried me to my new run, but now, after receiving kindness and care, I give my visitors a calm and friendly greeting. Honestly, I love people and your attention makes me so happy. I’m a 1-year-old Wheaten Terrier male, medium size, white with tan and black spots. If you let me share your heart and home, we can write a happy new chapter together!

Hi… my name is Figuero,

Adopted as TALGV Meeter & Greeter 5-3-17

Figuero comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

Sometimes the best of intentions go awry. The folks who rescued me thought I belonged to their neighbors and when it turned out I didn’t, I was such a lover they decided to keep me. Unfortunately, pesky allergies kicked in, so their relatives took me in. They had me for two months, but I didn’t get along with their two young cats or dogs (especially the dogs!) so once more, I’m searching for a perfect home. In the time they had me, they said I loved to cuddle, and my preference for sleeping accommodations was their laps! I was gentle with the kids in the house, too, so if the prospect of having an affectionate, mature gentlemen companion warms the cockles of your heart, come meet me!

Hi… my name is Kenny,

Adopted March 9, 2016

Chihuahuas are the smallest breed and at 4.4 pounds, I’m a very little Chihuahua. And even though little dogs often think they’re big, I felt extra tiny when I was lost in a field behind a busy store. The world was big and scary from there, but in one very lucky moment, a kind person rescued me and brought me to TALGV. I’m safe and cared for here, and gradually I’m learning to trust again. The other dogs in The Den, the room at TALGV for little dogs, also make me feel more confident and sometimes we go on walks together. I’m a white male Chihuahua, very young at about 5 months, and realizing that the big life ahead of me is soon going to be much better—the day you make me yours!

Hi… my name is Tiger,

Adopted 11-21-17

Tiger has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate!

When my previous owner and I parted due to her health concerns, we’d been good friends for 6 years. I think that’s just my nature because being a loyal, devoted companion is what I do best. Oh, you could say I’m “handsome” thanks to my distinctive brindle coat and healthy physique (57 pounds). Also, “single-and-loving-it;” I really prefer to be your only canine. And definitely “well-trained”—I walk beautifully on a leash, and have earned my AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate for my outstanding performance on behavior tests! But the best word for me is friend. I’m up for exercise and play, and for quiet times, too. I’ll be thrilled when you’re happy and understand when you’re sad because that’s what true-blue friends do, and that’s what you’ll get when you make me yours.

Ivy

Hi… my name is Ivy,

Adopted May 1, 2016

On a cold winter’s day, I was alone, shivering, and about to give birth! Thankfully, some very kind people took me in, and I promptly delivered 8 puppies. What a relief to have my babies in a safe place! I took care of my growing pups until they were ready to be on their own. Now I’m on my own again, too, safe in foster care, with time to wonder what it feels like to truly belong to someone, to be loved in that forever way. Human friends say my day will come because lots of people would enjoy sharing life with a sweet, happy companion like me. I’m a medium-size Lab mix female, brindle with touches of white, and a big hope in my heart that you’ll let me be yours today.

Hi… my name is Bella (Lee),

Adopted June 25, 2016

When I was adopted a couple of months ago, I really liked the people and they liked me, but they said I didn’t get along with their other animals (2 dogs and a cat), so I had to go. Sure, I was disappointed, but now I’m happy to say I’ve made lots of new friends here at TALGV. The volunteers say I’m friendly in an easy-going way, eager to be a pleasing companion, and just plain “good with people.” I’m a Pointer mix female, 3 years old and about 60 pounds, white with black spots and beautiful brindle markings. Commands I know well include “come” and “sit,” and I’m already leash trained. If you come visit me, you’ll make my day. Take me home with you, and I’ll be your faithful friend forever!

Hi… my name is Lovey,

Adopted March 11, 2016

To see us cuddle and play, you might think my siblings and I have had only fun days, but our lives started with a struggle. After a difficult delivery, our mother couldn’t care for us and bottle-feeding wasn’t working. Just when things looked desperate, a small mother dog appeared! Her own puppies weren’t found, but she accepted us instead, making us three very lucky pups! Today we’re thriving, running and playing, sometimes falling all over ourselves. Our biological mom was an Otterhound mix, so that’s a hint of what we’ll look like. And, of course, we’re all adorable. I’m a female with one blue eye and one brown, black with a white stripe on my head, and I have a whole lot of puppy love to give. How about I give it to you!
