Animal League News

Hi… my name is  Cabasa (aka Sophia),

Adopted 1-8-26

I’ve outlived my human dad so I’m back at The Animal League waiting to find a new home. My human adopted me despite me being shy. When I first went into his home, I hid for several days, only coming out at night to eat, drink, and use my litter box. He was elated when I finally appeared one morning to be his companion. I became his best buddy. I miss him. I’m still very shy around strangers or in a different environment. My coping skill is to hide. Are you a patient cat-lover? I need you! It will take me time to adjust to my new home, but I so need a home!

Hi… my name is Summer,

Friends, both two-legged and four-legged, make ALL the difference! When I first arrived at TALGV, I was scared and unsure—found alone in a parking lot, dehydrated, and covered in dirt. Kind hands helped me heal, but it took time before I believed life could feel safe again. Then came my doggie “big brother,” and everything changed. I warmed up faster than pavement in July once I had a friend to show me the ropes. We play, nap, and explore together, and he’s helping me master my leash skills and my confidence. My tail wags faster every day as I’m learning how fun it is to be a dog. Now, I just want to be yours!

Hi… my name is Mouse,

Adopted with Archie 21-21-25

My human said I am sweet and friendly but shy at first. Also, that I was a good mouser—probably how I got my name. But those days of living outside are over! I want the safety of a home with my brother Archie. He’s more outgoing than I, but we both know our names and get along with everyone! We were found as kittens on our family’s property. That family included two young children, a horse and dogs. Unfortunately, one dog wasn’t “cat friendly” so here we are! Life’s so much better with a cat—or two! Please come meet Archie and me. You’ll fall in love!

Hi… my name is Rico (aka Lincoln),

Adopted 11-21-25

Ever been mistaken for a Muppet? I have. Maybe it’s the eyebrows. I’m a scruffy, bearded guy learning how good life can be. My first family meant well, but used a bark collar to teach me manners. It didn’t work; on the contrary, it only made me anxious, fearful, and confused. The folks at TALGV were patient and knew I needed time to relax before they started to earn my trust. It didn’t take me long to remember how much fun it is to be a dog! I’m housetrained, leash trained, and have impeccable manners. I LOVE going on walks and will sit (somewhat) patiently to be leashed. If you believe trust is earned and can appreciate my goofy grin, chill vibe, and award-winning eyebrows, I’ll supply the laughs, loyalty, and love, in that order.

Hi… my name is Cantaloupe,

I was a little kitten when I came to The Animal League. All my siblings were adopted. I’ve grown to 13 pounds even though I’m only 10 months old now. I will play with you, but please don’t reach out to touch me. I’m extremely shy and retiring, and I’m still learning to trust people. Could you provide a home where my better qualities can blossom? I have a good relationship with the other cats and kittens here. I was once described as aggressive – could I be an alpha male? They call me Cantaloupe. Can we elope – or just walk down the hall to your home?

If you are considering adoption, stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Or you may call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make an appointment. Kennel hours are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Raven,

Adopted 10-16-25

Foster Notes: Raven – he was really rambunctious when he first came to stay with us, but he has calmed down quite a bit and will cry out to be picked up. He likes toys the most of all 3 and enjoys playing with them and tugging on an old sock or whatever with a human (he will run after a small ball where the other two are less interested). He is also very sweet and also likes being held and cuddled. His favorite activity is wrestling a toy away from Boo or Poe. He is the least potty trained of the three and slightly less interested in food than the other two. He is very athletic and needs to move a lot. He loves new sounds (like a drum or ukelele and listens intently).

All three puppies know to go outside to the front porch after a meal and overnight consistently go potty in the same corner of the pen. They come when called and are really good sleepers (they sleep pretty much 6-9 hours at night – which is amazing). They make a small yelping sound if they want to be held (not that often, but sometimes). They all love Sarah Brightman music or any soothing music and fall right to sleep to it. We played music when the wrestling was getting a bit out of hand and it seemed to do the trick. We did not try to take them on any walks and just kept them in a few rooms in the house and the enclosed front porch. They were held a lot by our family members and some friends and seemed good with all kinds of people both male and female, but no kids that we know (sorry!). They never went potty when holding them.

If you are considering adoption, please call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make a date to meet me soon. Kennel appointments are between 10 and 2 every day.

Boo

Hi… my name is Boo,

Adopted 10-18-25

Boo is the strongest and most assertive of the 3. She LOVES to wrestle with her brothers and prefers that activity over toys. Raven and Poe look up to her and follow her lead. If Boo barks or is afraid – they bark and are afraid too. If she’s calm they are all calm. She’s the bravest and when she tries something new, they then copy her. When all 3 are together she will snap at our kitty or at Katy (another doggie who visits us) and seems scared. However, when we hold her away from her brothers she doesn’t bark and is calmly sniffing them. Boo is really smart and sits and stays well. She is the furthest along in being potty-trained and does her business as soon as she’s let outside. She’s very sweet and likes being held and falling asleep in your lap. She listens and is curious. She likes to lick and chew (especially shoes). Boo loves the little furry doggie bed and drags it around and often tries to dump the other 2 out of it, but usually the 3 end up sleeping all together in it. Hopefully she can keep the doggie bed with her for a while until she has a new home. Poe

Hi… my name is Poe,

Adopted 10-18-25

Foster Notes: Poe – he was definitely the runt when we first got him and had a hard time fending off the wrestling overtures of the other two. He’s since gotten a bit stronger and has learned that if he barks, he can get the other two to back off a bit. So he barks the most of the three (at his siblings but not at people) and is quite fast and resourceful. He loves playing with his siblings but uses brain instead of muscle to try and outsmart them. Poe will often sit and chew on a toy while Boo and Raven tussle with one another. Poe likes to dig and find things (like if you hide something in the sand). He is very calm and loving and also likes being in your lap. He is totally food-oriented and more independent than the other two.  All 3 puppies know to go outside to the front porch after a meal and overnight consistently go potty in the same corner of the pen. They come when called and are really good sleepers (they sleep pretty much 6-9 hours at night – which is amazing).
