Hi… my name is Benji,

Adopted 5-12-20

Once upon a time, I was rescued from a big highway, and I’ve been a lively, active guy ever since. I’m happily entertained with squeaky toys and balls, but have been hesitant around strangers, and need time to get acquainted and trust new people. On the other hand, I positively thrived in the foster home environment. Foster mom reported I learned how to interact with two other dogs, rode beautifully in the car, stayed off her furniture, and was housetrained. I didn’t even try to steal the remote! Friends say I’m smart, energetic, and have pleased the patient, understanding people who care about me. Will you let me make you a proud dog parent?

Hi… my name is Big Buddy,

Adopted 11-3-18

Has earned his Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I’ve lived up to my name wholeheartedly—weighing about 80 pounds on arrival here and having been a good buddy, protective and devoted, to the single woman at home. But she’s moving and can’t take me along, so sadly gave me up. She says I’ve been a great and gentle companion; leash, crate and house trained, and I like to play. (Hide-and-seek with treats is a favorite.) I’ve not met many other dogs, but do protect my toys and food from other animals and children. Since puppyhood—I’m a 3-year-old Lab mix male—I’ve lived with one woman, and she says a gentle voice and patience work best with me. And we both say you can call me whatever name you choose, as long as you’re my buddy and let me be yours.

Hi… my name is Sassy,

Adopted 5-26-18

My finder wasn’t shopping for a black Lab at a local thrift store, but that’s where she found me! Hard to believe I was just left behind, but I had neither collar nor microchip, so I was good and truly lost. A 5-year-old female, about 64 pounds, I got along with my finder’s other dogs, but chased her cat. Other than that, she gave me lots of good reports—said I’m housebroken, people-friendly, smart, affectionate, and very sweet. Three kids visited, ages 4 to 10, and I was okay with them, too. Mind you, when first here, I was pretty anxious and some new dogs made me nervous. But human kindness and affection can work wonders. Today, I dare to dream that someone will choose me as their loving companion—someone wonderful like you!

Hi… my name is Mader,

Adopted 10-14-18

Mader has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

When I was lost, I had one big advantage: I wasn’t alone. There were three of us—two other dogs and I were found near the interstate. When we arrived here, being together gave each of us the added confidence needed to meet new people, and that’s sure been worth it. My new friends have shown me that people can be as much fun as dogs! I’m a Lab/Staffie mix male, mainly black with touches of white, and about 57 pounds. As a 1-year-old, I’m looking forward to lots of fun, happy times, and I bet you can teach me how to be the best dog I can be. Here’s hoping we can start real soon, because I’ve learned that being with someone makes every journey better, especially the one that takes us home.

Hi… my name is Nala,

Adopted 5-24-18

When I was lost, I had one big advantage: I wasn’t alone. There were three of us— a male dog, another female and I were found near the interstate. Being together here has been helpful, too, because although I’m calm and sweet natured, I was timid around people at first and did the get-acquainted dance—two steps forward and one step back. It sure was worth it! My new friends stroke my short tan coat, and they’re showing me that people can be as much fun as dogs! A nice size at 49 pounds, I’m a 1-year-old female who’s still learning, and you’ll hear my unusual bark when we meet, which I hope is real soon because I’ve learned that being with someone makes every journey better, especially the one that takes us home.

Hi… my name is Foxy,

Adopted by The Humane Society 11-25-18

When I was lost, I had one big advantage: I wasn’t alone. There were three of us—a male dog, another female and I were found near the interstate. Now, being together here has been helpful, too, because it’s given each of us the added confidence needed to meet new people. Happily, I’ve been the friendliest of our little trio and it’s sure been worth it! My new friends have shown me that people can be as much fun as dogs! A nice size at 47 pounds, I’m a 2-year-old Lab/Staffie mix female, black with touches of white, a couple of almost-hidden scars from the past, and, best of all, an eagerness to get to know you because I’ve learned that being with someone makes every journey better, especially the one that takes us home.

Hi… my name is Socks,

Adopted 1-5-19

Socks has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I came here with my long-time buddy Irwin, a little Rat Terrier mix. We’d lived happily together with our person, but then she needed to move and couldn’t take us along. Now, my little buddy has found his new home and so I’m ready for my turn. I’m a 7-year-old Lab mix female, tan and white with big brown eyes, and very accustomed to sharing my home. Indeed, you know how dogs love having a job? Well, I think mine is being someone’s devoted companion—keeping each other company, taking walks together, being the loyal friend who’s always glad to be with you. I’m housetrained, leash-trained, have Free Vet Care for Life, and there’s one more thing: For me, life isn’t complete without someone to love, so I’m asking: Will you be my someone?
