Hi… my name is Luna (aka Lariat),

Adopted 8-14-19

“Is she always this good?” People asked that about me when foster mom and I went walking in the park. In reply, she sang my praises: “Easy to care for…walks well on a leash…loves going on walks and riding in the car…barks rarely and only when necessary.” I also enjoy watching what’s happening in the kitchen, playing with toys (especially chasing my red ball), and sitting with my person in the recliner to watch TV. (I’m a small-medium size at about 35 pounds.) I’ve had ear surgery, so need someone who understands the fear/touching issues connected with that—probably a person who’s had dogs; someone I could learn to trust. I’ll love that person so much. So if you’re seeking a companion who’s quiet, adorable, and loving (housetrained, too), I’m the one for you!

Hi… my name is Bear,

Adopted 6-20-18

You could say my lucky number came up when I was found in a casino parking lot by someone who kindly gave me a ride to TALGV. Here I’m learning there are lots of friendly people around when you’re in the right place. I’m a tall fellow, about 60 pounds, with a beautiful, rich black coat. I can be shy at first—maybe uncertain of how I’ll be treated—but if you’re calm and gentle, I’m very glad for the company. You can see that in my soulful eyes. Even if you just walk by my run, you’ll see my interest, my hope that you’re a new friend.  How about a visit real soon? We can meet and greet each other, and you can show me how fun and happy life can be together!

Hi… my name is Mercedes,

Adopted 8-2-19

Foster Dad calls me The Perfect Dog… with one exception: I chase the cats. Other than that, I’m your girl for all occasions! Housetrained, good in the house when people are gone, quiet and calm, I’m affectionate, always interested in you, and sometimes comical (I go to bed when told to, but once Foster Folks are quiet, I’ll try to sneak back to where they are… like they don’t notice the blonde dog at their feet). My past is unknown—I was lost, and although I’m leash trained, if other dogs bark at me, I often speed up, so maybe there was trouble once. But today, I’m a happy dog. Good on walks and know commands, I’m treat motivated, and, most especially, very love motivated. Let me into your heart and I’ll love you back forever!

Hi… my name is Buster,

Adopted 7-9-18

I like to take life in the peaceful, friendly lane. Oh, I still adhere to my good-dog duties, but in my own sweet way. For instance, my former owner said I would bark and growl to let you know a stranger was approaching, “but when the person gets close, he’ll love on them.” Recently, that positive attitude has stood me in good stead as I’ve dealt with two challenges. First, I lost my home. My previous owner is driving an 18-wheeler now and couldn’t take me along. Next, I needed medical care for heartworm, which took some time but I’m very glad to report that I successfully completed the treatment. Now, more than ever, I’m ready for the best part of life—a happy future with someone fun, loving, and kind. Is that you?

Hi… my name is Oreo,

Adopted 6-26-18

Moving here was a big surprise to my sister Bambi and me. We’d been with our people four years, ever since we were puppies, but when they moved out of state and couldn’t take us, we no longer had a home. Needless to say, that’s a scary predicament. When we arrived at TALGV, we just barked at strangers and huddled together. But things are getting better. The Den Mothers help a lot. They’re the volunteers who visit us regularly in The Den—the room here for little dogs. With their encouragement, we’re showing more of our true selves—bright, vivacious and spunky. We’re Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix females; I’m the black and white one, 12 pounds, and if you could love a lively, attentive little dog like me, I’d be proud to be your devoted companion.

Hi… my name is Wally,

Adopted 6-16-18

When found near a local store, I wasn’t shopping but I had been looking for a friendly face in the crowd. Lucky me, I spotted two! They’re both Animal League volunteers and they knew right away that I’m a “people dog,” that is, a dog who thrives on the company of kind people. An 18-month-old blond Shepherd mix male, I’m lively, enjoy exercise, and interested in the world around me. But here’s my secret: I’ve been a little lonely. That’s why I try to be extra friendly to everyone, hoping they’ll notice me and see what a good dog I’m trying to be. If you’re looking for an attentive, active, eager-to-please dog, then I’m looking for you, too—ready to be your loving, playful, devoted companion for a long time to come.

Hi… my name is Domino,

Adopted 8-10-18

I’m happy to say that there are many wonderful people out there who love big dogs! Lucky me, right? I’m 100+ pounds—my size makes me strong too, and my former person felt I was too strong for her as she got older—but, fortunately, I’m also very friendly and very loving. Moreover, people seem to like me and that’s mutual—I’m great with people and small dogs. (Protective around large dogs, though.) A 6-1/2-year-old American Bulldog, I’m housebroken, know commands like sit, stay, and come, understand some Spanish, and I’m a happy guy who likes to play. White with brown spots, including one big brown spot on my back (like a Domino), I’d sure like to meet you. And if we find each other irresistible, well, “together-forever” has a nice ring to it!
