Animal League News

Hi… my name is Luke,

Adopted 4-7-18

My Animal League friends say I arrived on Valentine’s Day because I’m a sweetheart. (They pet me as they say that, so it’s nice for me.) When found, I was a stray dog “full of stickers,” and my kind finders took care of that. They also let me play with their dogs, adult male golden retrievers, and we got along well. Indeed, they said that while with them, I enjoyed playing with other dogs. As for manners, I didn’t specifically ask to go outside, but did go outside, so that’s good. I’m strong—a 2-year-old, 53-pound Boxer mix male—so best to have a strong hand on my leash. And, honestly, I am a sweetheart who loves sweet people. If that makes us a happy match, I hope we can go home together real soon.

Hi… my name is Sophie,

Adopted 2-19-18

When I wasn’t quite 6 months old, my people abruptly moved away and left me all alone. Fortunately, our dog-loving neighbors (people with 6 dogs of their own) came to my rescue. They let me stay with them for two months and learned these important things about me: I was housebroken, good in the house when they were gone, and I got along with their 6 dogs. Here at TALGV, I’ve met more dog-loving people and they call me “a real sweetie,” energetic, affectionate, and easy to love. I’m a tan and white Heeler mix female, now 42 pounds, and you can probably tell, just by looking at me, how eager I am to meet my forever people. I have a lifetime of love to give—will you please let me give it to you!

Hi… my name is Kelly,

Adopted 3-10-18

Comfy shelter, regular food and water, kindness all around—the world is a far better place than I ever imagined! Before coming here, I lived under a trailer and was left there when my owners moved, but I wasn’t alone long. Angels came (disguised as people) and rescued me. They saw that I am very loving by nature, great with kids and good with other dogs. I was also good in their house when they were gone, and at 2 years of age (a 41-pound female), I’m becoming acquainted with leashes. I’m also learning that adult people can be patient and understanding, so let me tell you a secret: I now dare to dream of living in the best place ever—a loving home, happy and safe, with someone just like you to love forever.

Hi… my name is Coco,

Adopted 2-20-18

I was found in the shadow of Mount Hopkins, sitting in the shade and probably looking very peaceful because I am a sweet, harmonious kind of dog. However, on that day, my finders reported I was very thirsty, hungry, and limping a bit. I welcomed that rescue with all the big dog gratitude I could muster. And although I’m only 74 pounds, volunteers tell me I have big dog charisma, too—a kind of charm that comes from my gentle, friendly personality. I’m about 1-1/2 years old, a gray Staffie mix female, and I’d probably been alone for a while, judging by my dirty coat. As you know, that’s no way for a dog to live—I’m made to be someone’s loyal, loving companion. And maybe—my hopes are high—that someone is you.

Hi… my name is Claudia,

Adopted 2-18-18

I’m a 1-year-old Lab mix female (some say “mini Lab” because I’m just 32 pounds), and I’m also a social butterfly! From the volunteers to visitors to my doggie kennelmate, I try to be friends with everyone I’m near. Oh, I know you must be careful if you’re not in a safe place, and I know that kind of place because I was a lost dog—a very scary experience. Fortunately, I was found, arriving in my finder’s yard after wandering the area for at least a week. Now I’m super happy to be safely here—playing, having fun, making friends, learning doggie stuff. But most of all, I’m watching, because someday my forever friend will appear at my window. We’ll go home together and live happily ever after. Am I watching for you?

Hi… my name is Stormy,

Adopted 3-3-18

When I was found on a road—such a dangerous place for a dog without a person to guide and protect her—it appeared I’d been “out” for a while. My coat was very dirty and the healing scratches across the bridge of my nose might have been bite marks. But you know what? I’m very okay today! In my story, the page has turned. I’m now in a safe, comfy place and glad to be making new friends every day. Oh yes, I’m friendly. Energetic and playful, too, and people say it’s catching! When someone is as happy as I am, it can make you happy just to be with her! I’m a gray and white, 1-1/2-year-old Staffie mix female, 49 pounds, truly hoping you’ll let me make you happy from now on!

GIZMO is an adorable, sweet, and affectionate, 2-year-old, 12-pound terrier mix male that needs to find a new home since family has very little time to give him. He is neutered and healthy; shots are up to date. He gets along with kids but other dogs and cats are unknown. He is crate trained (short periods), knows a few commands, and is used to a doggy door. Training has been minimal but Gizmo wants to please so he should be a fast learner. He just needs someone to love him. If you would welcome Gizmo into a loving home as part of your family, please call Karen between 8 AM and 8 PM at 520-331-4340. There is no adoption fee.
