Hi… my name is Roseanne,

Adopted 1-1-18

Child abuse doesn’t just happen to humans. I arrived at TALGV with a massive wound on my head and taken to the vet where they discovered that I’d also had a recently broken jaw. After months of treatment and recovery, I’m living with a foster mom (who thinks my injuries were inflicted with a shovel), and she says that despite everything, I’m a sweet, happy girl. I have sight and hearing loss on my left side and have some neurological damage (mom says that I’ll be “locked forever in a puppy world” as my learning curve is a bit slow), but I love people, get along fine with the resident dogs and cats, am housebroken, and am learning to walk on a leash, so everyone is hoping that I can find a super special person to give me lots of love and consistency in my life. If you consider me when you’re ready to “pay it forward,” you won’t be sorry!

P.S. Things you should know about me (from my foster mom): I’m hearing and sight-impaired on my left side. I have permanent neurological damage (sort of like a Down Syndrome child). My tail wags almost all the time. I didn’t used to know what toys were, but I’m learning. I’m learning to trust people, too. I go into my crate (my “safe place”) if I’m frightened. I’m housebroken (I go to the door). I like dogs and cats (especially dogs!). I’m a sweet, happy girl who gets along with all people and kids. I am getting better and better with leash training every day. I need patience and consistency and a “pattern” to my life.

And most of all: I need time and understanding and guidance and love.

Hi… my name is Ghost,

Adopted 10-15-17

Our happy home included people, dogs and a cat, until a problem arose. Due to her health issues, our person could no longer take care of us. The great news is that my best dog buddy has already been adopted, which gives me high hopes that I’ll be next. I’m a 16-month-old white Chihuahua/Poodle mix male, 15-1/2 pounds—a nice size for cuddling, which is one of my favorite things. I also enjoy playing with other dogs, love my chew toys, and know the commands “sit,” “shake,” “high five,” “kiss,” and “come here.” My former person said someone had been unkind to me previously, which may be why I’m so shy at first, but please don’t let that keep us apart. I’m truly eager to share love and happiness again—this time with you!

Hi… my name is Stella,

Adopted 10-24-17

Friendly and sweet, active and adventurous—I hope you like that combination because those words describe me! After my buddy Lobo (a Husky/Shepherd mix) and I escaped from their place, our people decided to bring us here so we could find a home where we’d be more likely to happily stay put. My former people said I was gentle and tolerant with children (ages 9 to 16)—indeed, they said I “love children”—and got along with other animals. I’m friendly here, too, playful, and enjoying the attention. They call me a Rottie mix female, but I have a slender build and weigh just 53 pounds at 10 months. These days, true to my sweet nature, I’m eager to be someone’s loyal and loving companion forever. Could you and I be the perfect combination?

Hi… my name is Lobo,

After my buddy Stella (a Rottie mix) and I escaped from their place, our people brought us here so we could find a home where we’d be more likely to happily stay put. I arrived with a significantly injured toe, which has been treated and I’ve been a brave and good patient. That’s not a big surprise—although relatively young and active, I’m a sweet guy by nature. My former people called me “a loving dog,” and said I was gentle and tolerant with children (ages 9 to 16)—indeed, they said I was “great with kids”—and got along with other dogs. I’m a Husky/Shepherd mix male, 63 pounds, with blue eyes, a gorgeous white coat, and a great big heart. I’m going to be someone’s loving companion forever—could it be you?

Hi… my name is Buddy,

Adopted 7-14-19

Buddy comes with Vet Care Support for Life

After my dear owner died, her daughter said this about me: “Buddy needs to know someone loves him. I don’t think he had a very good life before my mother adopted him.” But once I was with her, my life was blessed with care and understanding. I had two doggie housemates and our person loved us all! Now, alone again, I have some concerns. I’m head shy and sensitive to touch of my hind end, maybe from past injuries; please understand it’s not personal. We don’t know if I’d get along with other dogs now, and we don’t think I should be in a family with children. Most of all, I need kindness, patience, and the freedom to be me—an 11-year-old male, 59 pounds, who has learned what love is. May I share it with you?

Hi… my name is Hilda,

Adopted 10-8-17

When I was lost, hungry and thirsty, I accidentally wandered into a dangerous place: The middle of a highway! Thankfully, my rescuer brought me here, where I’ve quickly put those difficult days behind me and made many new friends. The volunteers think I’m a Mastiff mix (82 pounds), and I do possess some of the great Mastiff qualities: I’m affectionate, good-natured and calm. Playful, too—I’ve lived with another dog here at TALGV and we’ve had lots of fun—and good on a leash, although naturally strong. I’m a 3-year-old black and beige female, who’s even more beautiful once you get to know me, and I hope that happens real soon. Granted, I’m not exactly a lap dog, but I’ll bring lots of love and laughter into your life. May I become yours today?
