Hi… my name is Spock.

Adopted September 1, 2015

My brothers, McCoy and Kirk, and I were named after Star Trek characters because we’re out-of-this-world adorable! Well, that’s what we tell each other and I’m hoping you’ll agree. Here’s our short story (we’re only 2 months old, so you know it’s not long): A kind person found our mom and two other Chihuahua females. Turned out Mom was expecting us and when we arrived, that doubled the dog number to 6! Once old enough, we were brought to TALGV in hopes of finding happy homes for each of us. We do puppy things very well—eat, sleep, play, sleep more, play more—you get the idea. I’m 4-1/2 pounds, light tan, and if you have a big heart for a little guy like me, we could be happy together for a long time.

Hi… my name is Trefor.

Adopted January 23, 2016

I used to live where there were just too many dogs in one place. Now, I’m comfy at TALGV and grateful for the great care, but still dreaming of a home of my own. The best part of the dream is a person or family, someone I’ll share every day with—probably someone like you. I’ll do my part in our happy home, being the good dog who knows good behavior, and also a quick learner ready to learn lots more. I’m great on a leash and love the big outdoors, so walks will be fun for us, too. Best of all, I’ll build my world around you, making it my job to please you every day. I’m a 4-year-old male SharPei/Hound mix, 51 pounds, and am really hoping you come take me home today.

Hi… my name is Chrissy.

Adopted February 14, 2016

Things changed in my once-happy home and my people can no longer give me the attention I need. We’re hoping someone else will have more time to share and we can be happy together. I’m already have some important dog lessons down pat; I know “sit,” “come,” “stop barking,” and “lay down.” Since they call me a Greyhound/Mastiff mix, you won’t be surprised to know that I like to run—sometimes very fast. I also like to play with squeaky toys. It’s been tough for me to leave the only home I remember, but I did get into mischief when left alone so much and so I need a good friend. I’m a beautiful brindle female, and if you have the time and patience, I can be your faithful companion.

Hi… my name is Spectrum.

Adopted August 8, 2015

I looked like a “goner” when found sitting in the middle of of a busy road, unable to stand. Fortunately, when rescued, I was okay 30 minutes later. The doggie doctor said I was probably overheated and dehydrated. With proper attention, I am feeling great again. Somewhere along the line I was eating well because I’m kind of stocky at 14+ pounds on my Chihuahua-mix frame, but I’m still a little guy. I have a sleek black coat with tan markings, and at 3 years old, I’m happy to have fun and glad to take it easy, too. I know I was a lucky guy to be rescued from that rough life on the road, and now I’m all set to enjoy my second chance at life with you.

Hi… my name is Cali.

Adopted 12-20-16

Cali has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I cannot exaggerate how grateful I was to arrive at TALGV. I was left here in a small crate, malnourished, with fleas, and expecting puppies! Happily, my ten pups were born in this safe place, all’s well with them, and now I’m ready for my forever home. I’m a lovable white and black Staffie mix, about 56 pounds, who knows basic commands, how to play fetch and ball (they say I’m good at it), and I even run through an agility tube. Love and affection are my middle names, and I thoroughly enjoy getting out and about. TALGV friends have taken me to the farmers market, adoption fairs, and hiking in Madera Canyon. Of course, the best place on earth is a place called home and that’s what I dream of sharing with you.

Bud

Hi… my name is Bud.

Adopted July 31, 2015

If I had to choose one word to introduce myself, it would be playful! I just love to play and I’m real good at it. I spent a week with the person who found me running in The Villages of Green Valley and she described me as friendly, eager to learn and please. It helps that I already know “sit,” “come,” and “no.” With some of my human friends, I’ll hold up my paw to “shake,” and sometimes when you talk to me, my ears perk up to make me just a little handsomer. I get along well with some other dogs, but I am not used to cats. And did I mention that I like to play? I’m an exceptionally friendly, brindle Boxer mix boy.

Hi… my name is Sammie.

Adopted July 24, 2015

Other dogs have lost their homes due to the dreaded D word, and now me, too. My parents divorced and so I’m looking for my new home. I’ve got great qualifications – I like being with other friendly dogs and have lived with cats; I’m gentle with kids, have good house manners, not a big barking gal, leash trained, and have what humans call “an even temperament.” Sound good? Well, here’s what I really want to tell you: I like companionship and, if I do say so myself, I’m good at it. I like to hike, run, go for car rides, and, most of all, I love having a home. I’m a 45-pound black lab mix female, sometimes a little shy at first, but I just know we could be friends…and maybe family!

Hi… my name is Austin.

Adopted October 19, 2015

I’m a happy guy who’s looking for someone to share the good times. People say I’m smart and that’s great, but it turned out I was “too much” for the senior community where I was living and so now I’m here, ready to make new friends. I’m a 4-year-old male, warm tan with white markings, and one look in my big brown eyes will tell you that I’ve got lots of love to give. As a Lab/Shepherd mix, I have good qualities from both breeds—I’m a loyal, playful fellow who really enjoys the company of people. Thanks to my smarts, I know how to be a good dog, and thanks to my personality, I know how to have fun! Let’s have a meet and greet, and see how happy we can be together!

Hi… my name is Violet.

Adopted July 27,2015

When I was found 2-1/2 years ago (back when I was 6 months old), my finders already had dogs. We tried, but, unfortunately, we could not get along. In my next home, I should be the only dog. I’m a 3-year-old, lovely brown hound mix female, currently weighing in at about 52 pounds on my slender frame. Some of my favorite things are eating carrots, (yeah, carrots!), playing ball, and being with people. I love being with people so much, sometimes when we’re together, I look like I’m trying to smile.  I already know “sit,” “come,” and “down,” and I am very familiar with walking on a leash. If you have room in your heart for a single lady like me, I’d love to be your one and only hound dog!

Adopted by rescuers October 15, 2015

SHEBA is a highly-trainable, affectionate, 3-year-old, 85-pound shepherd mix that was rescued by her owners as a stray about 6 months ago.  She does not fit into her owners’ established pack and they need to find a new home for her. She is spayed and shots are up to date  (medical records available). Owners believe Sheba should be an only-dog since she is protective of her food with other dogs, but she does get along with cats; kids are unknown. Sheba loves people and usually has excellent manners. There is a concern about her behavior in a new environment since she can be unhappy with change, so it is important that her new owner have the time and patience to help her adjust.  A 6’ wall or fence is recommended. She is easy-going, has a moderate energy level, and walks well on leash. If you would welcome Sheba into a loving home as part of your family, please call Jennifer between 8 AM and 8 PM at 1-505-710-5714. There is no adoption fee.
