Hi… my name is Harley,

Adopted 9-21-17

When I was lost, I tried to help myself by greeting my finder when she arrived home that night. As she got out of her car, I walked up to her and did my best to be friendly. She described me as “very sweet.” The next day, the TALGV dog coordinator also described me as “very sweet.” (Must admit my intake sheet used two more words as well—“needs bath”—but we’ve taken care of that.) My finder had no idea where I belonged, but I do: I belong with someone who wants a dog who’s friendly and sweet, playful and happy, eager to be a loyal companion. I’m an 18-month-old black and white male, about 55 pounds, and if you say I can be yours, that’ll be the best news I’ve ever had!

Hi… my name is Boscoe,

Adopted 3-17-18

“Boscoe is by far the most impressive canine guest I’ve ever had.” That’s one highlight from the feedback shared by my dear friend after I spent a wonderful weekend at home with his family. And there’s more: “Boscoe was very patient and gentle with my 5-year-old, took treats from her with great manners.” Outside Dunkin’ Donuts, I was “well behaved and great with everyone who approached and petted.” At the Pecan Festival, I “handled everything SUPERBLY!” I was accident-free in the house all weekend, eager to please, calm (can be a couch potato), and just love being with people. A 68-pound, 3-year-old Staffie mix male, “Dogs like Boscoe come around once or twice in a lifetime,” my friend said. “He’s going to make someone’s home warmer, brighter, and happier.” I sure hope that home is with you!

Hi… my name is Baloo,

Adopted 3-11-17

Let me tell you the best parts of being rescued: Regular food, shelter, safety, and, for me, top of the list is the company. Before coming here, I was lost and lonely. But now I have dog and people friends. Just being me—sweet and friendly—has made me a popular guy! Recently, a volunteer took me on an overnight-for-fun and I showed her more of my good qualities, like I’m crate-trained, not a barker, and when we saw javelinas on our walk, I ignored them. Sometimes I make a “growly” sound when I try to talk, snore when I snooze, and maybe you’ve noticed my great big smile. I’m a happy 75-pound adult Staffie mix male, and when you look in my eyes, I hope you see your next best friend.

Hi… my name is Dora,

Adopted 3-20-17

Dora has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate!

(Note: Dora’s bio needs update.) I was found on a rainy day, in a busy traffic intersection, running from car to car, looking for someone who would help me. It was not a good place for any dog to be. Luckily, a good person saw my dangerous predicament and came to my rescue. I’m so grateful because today I’m safe at TALGV and can rest easy. Now I’m looking for a special someone who sees what a good dog I am – sweet, fun-loving, and very attentive to my human friends. If you and I become friends, I’ll do my very best to make you happy, too. I’m a 3-year-old Staffie mix female, about 58 pounds, tan and white with lots of pretty spots. Please let me show you what a great companion I can be.

Hi… my name is Travis,

Adopted 5-21-17

When my brothers and I arrived here at TALGV (which was because there were simply too many dogs where we were born), we apparently resembled cowboys because we were given country western names. These days, the others have been adopted and so I’m going solo, letting my own charming personality shine through and thoroughly enjoying the company of my people friends. We play together, exercise, and cuddle a lot; I’m an attentive, smart little guy, a handsome Heeler/Staffie mix male with a sleek black and white coat. At 5 months I was 20 pounds; a little older now and still growing, I already have a full-grown dream that you can make come true: To go home with you and become the dog you’ll love and be happy with for a long time to come.
