“She was a little skeleton with toenail nubs.” Can you believe that was me just a little over two years ago? Today, I’m an energetic 2-1/2-year-old Staffie mix female, a nice size at 50 pounds, and my rescuer says I’m “the sweetest little cuddlebug and so smart!” I love that cuddly part because I love being close to my person and even give hugs! As for smart, well, I thank my trainers who taught me house manners, how to walk on a leash, and several commands; I learn quickly with food. There were many dogs and lots of excitement at my former home, so it was decided I’d do better in another place, which is tough now, but I just know there’s someone who could love a smart cuddlebug like me forever. I was found near Green Valley Hospital, but the kind of care I needed wasn’t medical. Turned out, I’d been given away when my person moved out of state and then not kept. But you know what? I’m only 1 year old, so a disappointing beginning is only that—my happy story can start now. Granted, for you, choosing a dog can get complicated if you’re considering size, gender, age, even coat and color. For me, though, it’s simple—I just want a kind someone who appreciates my good qualities and will let me love them forever. I’m a Pointer/Staffie mix male, distinctive looking with my friendly face, and my black and white speckled coat, and I’d love to meet you, because I think once together, we’ll want to share all our happy tomorrows.

Once a lost dog wandering the streets of Chicago, I was rescued and moved to Arizona. (Pleasant surprise: There are lots of Chicago Cubs fans here.) When my person couldn’t keep me anymore, I came to TALGV, glad to be making new friends while looking for that special someone who’ll be my lifelong friend. Maybe you can see the hope in my big brown eyes. If we become acquainted, you’ll know I’m affectionate and sweet with my person, love bath time, and like to snuggle under a soft blanket. I also know some commands and will usually quiet down when you say, “shhh.” A tan, 9-1/2-year-old Staffie mix female, about 40 pounds, I’d love to be your lap dog, but will be forever happy just being by your side as your loyal, loving companion.

Your attention and affection make me so happy, sometimes you’ll see me give you my best doggie smile. I love belly rubs, being petted, and—full disclosure—I’ll sleep right beside you given the chance. (It’s okay to put my cushion on the floor so there’s room for you in the bed.) I also love to learn, which is how I earned my AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate, awarded for excellence in the behavior department! I’m a 4-year-old Staffie mix male, down to 75 pounds on a nutritious diet and still strong. I wasn’t raised around children, but when I met two young boys here, my behavior with them was “wonderful.” I’m best as your only dog, and if you let that dream come true, I’ll try to make you smile every day, too.

For someone who recently gave birth to 11 puppies—yes, 11 babies in one litter!—I’m now delightfully close to feeling carefree. My human family found homes for eight of my puppies, but they were moving and couldn’t keep the rest of us, so, thank goodness, there was room for us here. We arrived hungry and I was very thin, but we soon thrived on our “three squares.” At 42 pounds, I’m now svelte in a good way—a nice size for a 2-year-old female (whose “mama days” will soon be behind her). In the past, I played well with 14- and 15-year-old kids, and here at TALGV, I’m a sweet dog to my new friends, good on a leash, and eager to find someone to love forever. Will you please be my someone?

Blackie and I were buddies at first woof. I was already living with our mom when he wandered onto the property and we welcomed him with open arms (and paws). Blackie and I have been best friends ever since, sticking together after Mom’s death and now looking for a forever home for two. We have a lot in common—both playful, housebroken, leash-trained males, I’m 4 and he’s 3, and our personalities complement each other; I’m especially sweet and loving, and Blackie is a bit more adventurous (needs training not to climb a fence). Together, we’re a bonded pair—we play together and keep each other company—two dogs who dream of one home where we share the joy of being family with people, too. My door sign could read “Visitors Welcome” because I’m a friendly dog who loves the attention of people. As a grown-up, an 8-1/2-year-old, I can be gentle and calm, walk by your side, nicely leash trained. But also, just being me, I’m outgoing and fun-loving, too. At my former home, a gate or door was too often left open and I’d wander out, looking for friends—fun, but not safe. A new home will be best, and I’m excited about finding someone new who cares about me. A stroke of luck—perhaps a magic moment—made me a TALGV dog. A volunteer was walking between the buildings when, out of the corner of her eye, she spied me running loose in a neighbor’s parking lot. She called and I happily ran to her. I’d probably been out in the hot weather for some time because my paw pads were swollen and peeling, so you can imagine how great these cool floors felt to me. And as glad as I am to be here, my new friends seem just as glad to have me! They say I’m adorable, calm, and attentive to my person. Just 5 months old, I’m a sweet tan and white female, about 35 pounds, who is ready for that best magic moment of all—when you make me yours.
