Animal League News

Hi… my name is Whirl,

My life has been in a tailspin since I escaped. I was investigating something that looked interesting. Now I’m furious because I was so curious! It was a mouse trap, and it caught me! A caring person took me to the vet, who released me to The Animal League (so important to have a microchip!). My original owner had adopted me from The Animal League in 2024, and I lived a happy life with him and Cabasa (another cat), until he passed away. I’m recovering now after losing a few toes. I’m a little less curious, but still sweet and loving. I believe with patience I can thrive again in a safe home. Yours?

Hi… my name is Pony Boy,

My name is Pony Boy, but I don’t know why. Perhaps romping like an equine in my kittenhood? As an adult, I have a serious, stern expression, but I’m the sweetest guy once you get to know me! I’m the quiet, shy type, laid back, you know. Once engaged, I like toys and will play like a kitten. My special person developed health issues so here I am at The Animal League. I’m up to date on all my vaccines (glad that’s over). My health is good and I’m ready to go! I’m just waiting for that special someone to love and cherish me. Could that be you?

Hi… my name is Maddox,

Life changed suddenly for my sister and me when our family had to return us because of allergies. She has already found her forever home, and now I’m patiently waiting for mine. I’m a handsome Lab mix who enjoys the good things in life — daily walks, polite manners, and hanging with my people. I’m house-trained, walk nicely on leash, and know commands like sit, down, leave it, and wait. I may be a little unsure at first, but once I feel safe, my sweet, affectionate personality shines. I’ve also discovered my confidence increases with a friendly female dog around. My foster buddy and I love to wrestle and play. I’m not a fan of male dogs, but with patience and a friendly female canine resident, I’ll be a loyal, devoted companion. (2-2026)

Hi… my name is Marley,

Life on my own wasn’t easy for a guy like me. The scars I carry are reminders of how far I’ve come. Now, my human friends enjoy watching my personality unfold. I recently attended an elementary school event, where I was gentle with kids and soaked up attention and belly rubs like a seasoned professional. My foster family found me to be a sweet, easygoing boy who loves sitting close to my person—lap-warmer, maybe? I’m hard of hearing, but I’m learning hand signals and enjoying new experiences. I ride well in the car and relax quietly in my crate. I practice polite house manners while moonlighting as an expert dog-toy defluffer. I’m looking for a calm, confident leader who helps me feel safe, so I can relax and enjoy being a dog. Maybe that’s you?

Hi… my name is Elon,

After living on the streets for about a year, a nice person finally brought me here where it’s safe.  Good thing, since I was starting to show some wear and tear from being outside. Here at The Animal League I can count on safety and regular meals so it’s a big improvement. However, I’m still getting used to my new place. I’ve been keeping to myself in a small soft cubby on the floor while I learn what’s what. The volunteers can pet and brush me, and I do like that. What I’d really like is a quiet home where I can get my bearings and come out of my shell.

Hi… my name is Pumpkin,

Are you looking for a new four-legged family member who’s already house-trained, won’t chew up your belongings, and doesn’t require endless amounts of training or exercise? Look no further, as I’m your girl! Ms. Manners is impressed with my impeccable house manners. For example, there is no need for me to be confined to a room or crate. I might approach the table when you’re eating, but if ignored, I’ll retreat to my bed. I loved exploring the outdoors in the safety of my foster home’s backyard. Humans? Yes, please!  I’m a social butterfly with people and enjoy playing with other dogs in a group setting. I promise though, you won’t need another dog when you have sweet-as-pie ME!

If you are considering adoption, please call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make a date to meet me. Kennel appointments are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Quiz,

When I moved to a new house about a year ago things were fine. But a new baby has arrived, and the baby is asthmatic, so I was given up. I am good with kids and tolerate dogs too. They say I loved attention and especially like men. Here I’m quite vocal, talking and growling depending on my mood.  I’ve had some health issues that were taken care of here and maybe once I’m feeling tip-top again I’ll be a little happier. All I ask is a warm, safe place to spend my days. I’m in the senior citizen room here so please look for me there.

Hi… my name is Blinky,

I’m a big loveable boy with white whiskers and white bib just below my chin. My person developed health issues. I miss him and hope he’s doing well. As for me, I’m still settling into the routines at The Animal League. Since I lived as an only pet, it’s been challenging to have so many roommates. I’m playful as a kitten and love to play with my toys. I have a social personality and will meet and greet visitors. As for my appetite, I’m not fussy – I eat everything! My fur was described as “like a labrador retriever!” so, I need regular brushing. Would you take me home and brush me?

Hi… my name is Carl,

I’m a super-sweet chunky lovebug. For most of my life I lived with my human mom until she decided to travel and gave me to her friend. That didn’t work out since her friend has allergies. So here I am waiting for you! Everyone who meets me says I’m the best buddy you’ll ever find! I love birdwatching, exploring, petting, boxes and treats. My favorite place is where you are! Laps are where it’s at! I’ve never been around dogs or children so I’m not sure about them. I’m a very good boy with no behavioral issues. I like to play but am happiest when cuddling with you. Are you ready to meet me?

Hi… my name is Summer,

Friends make ALL the difference! When I first arrived at TALGV, I was scared and unsure after being found alone. Kind people helped me heal, but it took time before I believed life could feel safe again. Then I went to a foster home with my buddy Maddox—and everything started to change. With him by my side, my tail hasn’t stopped wagging! We love to wrestle, explore on our daily walks, and relax together after playtime. Having a dog friend helps me feel brave. I’m potty trained, sleep peacefully in my crate, and know commands like sit, down, and wait. I’m also practicing my leash skills and learning fun new tricks. A calm, patient home with a friendly dog (like Maddox) would help me keep blossoming all year long.

If you are considering adoption, please call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make a date to meet me soon. Kennel appointments are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Cantaloupe,

I was a little kitten when I came to The Animal League. All my siblings were adopted. I’ve grown to 13 pounds even though I’m only 10 months old now. I will play with you, but please don’t reach out to touch me. I’m extremely shy and retiring, and I’m still learning to trust people. Could you provide a home where my better qualities can blossom? I have a good relationship with the other cats and kittens here. I was once described as aggressive – could I be an alpha male? They call me Cantaloupe. Can we elope – or just walk down the hall to your home?

If you are considering adoption, stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Or you may call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make an appointment. Kennel hours are between 10 and 2 every day.

Frankie is a spunky and loyal 7-year-old, 47-pound Heeler mix female who needs a new home. She is crate trained, leash trained, and obedience trained (knows: sit, go to your bed, lay, shake, stay, wait and leave it). She is housebroken and asks to go out. She is in good health, spayed, and medical records are available. Frankie usually gets along with other dogs and children and is a great companion, but she mostly likes her own space. She does not like sudden loud noises. She likes to play with her stuffed animal and ball and enjoys lounging in the sun, going on desert strolls, rolling in the grass, going camping, and car rides. There is no adoption fee for this sweet girl.

If you will welcome Frankie into a loving home as part of your family, please call Isadore between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 520-999-1157.
