Animal League News

Hi… my name is Leala.

My “probably” sister, Lila, and I glommed on to a house in Sahuarita Heights at the end of September, and after the owner fed us for a few weeks and no one showed up looking for us, he brought us here. He might have kept us forever, but he already had two other dogs (along with horses, which we never bothered!), so he figured he had a full complement of “dependents.” I’m a lovely Australian heeler mix. The volunteers said that I walk “pretty well” on a leash, am friendly with people, seem okay with other dogs (I’ve really bonded with Lila, so it would be really great if we could go to a home together!), and am a very sociable girl. I’m “double-dog sure” that with just a bit of education I’ll be a grand addition to your life!

Hi… my name is Toby.

My family adopted me from a shelter when I was nine months old, and I lived with them for three months until it was apparent their resident female and I weren’t ever going to be the best of friends (but WAY on the plus side, I got along great with the two cats and kids they had!). So, that said, everyone is positive that I’ll make a wonderful companion for an active family where I can be “top dog.” I’m a handsome, young 53-pound, Staffie mix boy, and my dad says, “Toby is very cuddly, thinks he’s a lap dog, wants to please, and is a quick learner.” I’ve been to obedience school and know sit, come, let go, and wait — all really important commands for us canines to master, so I’m betting I’ll find a place of honor in your life in no time after you take me home!

Hi… my name is Mike.

My sister, Julia, and I were returned to TALGV because our dad’s new fiancé and son-in-law were allergic to cats. (I sure do wish someone would develop an “anti-cat-allergy” pill, ‘cause that seems to be an all-too-frequent occurrence.) I lived with him all my life and he said, “This is a great cat. He is very loving, likes his belly scratched, and comes when called.” Hey, what more could you want in a feline? I’m a young orange and white tabby who, like lots of us marmalade guys, is very outgoing and affectionate (seems to be a breed thing!), so I know that I’ll make a wonderfully warm and furry (and endlessly entertaining) addition to your life. I’ll bet if you could see your way clear to take Julia, too, we’d double your pleasure without even twitching a whisker! My motto has always been “the more the merrier” and I’m hoping it’s yours, too!

Hi… my name is Bailey June.

My family (which included two kids ages 10 and 12) said that I’m “very playful, loving, and cuddles a lot,” so that gives you an idea of how much I like critters of the human kind. My canine housemate, however, was a different story, and he and I didn’t get along well at all, so if there’s a home with an active family out there that’s missing the companionship of a devoted friend, then I know I can fill that void! I’m a tan and white Staffie mix girl, who, although I spent a good deal of time outdoors, would very much like to be a part of your everyday life indoors, too. Being still very much a youngster, you know that I’m chock full of energy and eager to learn new things, so I know I’ll have the basics of indoor living down in a flash. Why don’t you be the one to teach me?

Hi… my name is Sara.

Sara probably isn’t my real name, because my dad died and amidst the hubbub in the house, I managed to escape and the Realtor who rescued me didn’t know a whole lot about my background. What we can tell you is that I am a real “purrpot” who loves to be held, have my chin and ears scratched, and will be your new best friend when you make me yours. I’m a young and lovely example of the classic tabby and white breed — although a fairly common one, we’re known for our winning ways and UNcommon affection. I must tell you that I’m a little overwhelmed here at the moment with all the other felines around, so I’m hoping that my shining personality will win me a place in your heart really soon. You’ll never know unless you visit me, so come have a seat — I’ll do the rest!

Hi… my name is Mandy.

Adopted December 28, 2014.

After my dad died over a year ago, I came to TALGV with my brother, Rusty. Since we’d been together all our lives and rely on each other for comfort and company, the volunteers would like to see us adopted together. Sadly, our mom has recently had to have surgery and she can no longer care for us, so we’re back looking for a home that will take us both again. I’m a lovely grey and white lady who is very loving, gets attached to my owner, and likes to crawl on laps and cuddle. They say I also need to have some blankets around, as I love to sleep completely covered underneath them. I may be a bit shy at first, but I warm up once I know you, and having Rusty around would help me in that department, too. I’ll bet your life would be a lot brighter with two gentle sweethearts like us!

Hi… my name is Dinah.

I was adopted by my friends at TALGV. I am the official Cat Care Mascot.

My two feline friends, Luella, Bobby Cat, and I had to come to TALGV to find new homes because our mom had developed such severe allergies that she could hardly breathe. Our little home was busy as can be with four kids (ranging in age from 7 to 9 months!) and two dogs, so you can be certain that we are adaptable, gentle and tolerant cats. I’m a beautiful, chubby, declawed, longhaired calico lady and my mom said, “Dinah is very laid back, sweet and loving, and she will purr whenever you pet her.” The only “problem” behavior that she cited was that I got on the furniture, but to my mind, that’s really where I should be — right there next to (or on!) you. Because of my age, I qualify for TALGV’s Vet Care for Life program, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t make me your own right now!

Sal

Hi… my name is Sal.

I was adopted March 23, 2014.

I’m an extraordinarily handsome little guy with the most rare of color for a feline – sort of charcoal tabby with a little white on my chest — and like all kittens, I’m just as sweet as can be.  I was found living in a power plant by some workers who brought me to TALGV where I joined all the other kittens here (there’s been a bumper crop of them this year!). They say that I “purr on contact,” so you know that I’m really craving my very own human that I can sing my “songs” for! I’ve grown up a bit since I first arrived and am a teenager, but I’m still a lover and am waiting (a little impatiently!) for that special person to fall in love with me. I do so hope that you’re right around the corner!

Hi… my name is Tango.

I was adopted on April 29, 2014.

My sister, Gizmo, and I lived with our mom since we were born on May 17, 2005. Sadly, her health now dictates the she needs to move back east to live with family, and we weren’t able to go along, so we’re hoping we’ll find another wonderful person to spend the rest of our lives with. We’re Border collie mixes and here’s a bit of what mom said about us: “Gizmo and Tango are like Siamese twins and have never been apart from the moment they were born. Even though they’ve only been around each other, I think once they meet another dog, they’d be fine.” Neither one of us is very fond of thunderstorms, but if you take us both (which we are really hoping you do!) with your help we can comfort each other during the monsoon season, and then we can have the rest of the year to be just plain wonderful companions!

Note: Because of my age I qualify for TALGV’s Senior Vet-Care-for-Life program.

Hi… my name is Casey.

My dad went into assisted living and the only thing the people who brought me here said about me was “indoor cat!” Well, I am declawed, after all — although ALL cats should be indoors here in Arizona! What I CAN tell you is that even though I have a “cauliflower ear” (which just really adds to my uniqueness!), I’m a beautiful, longhaired calico lady, who checked out pretty well “health-wise” when I first arrived, and since I’m in the “over 10” category, I qualify for TALGV’s “Vet Care for Life” program!. I weigh just a little over 9 pounds (there’s more fur than body!), and since I lived with a senior citizen, I’m probably going to want to have a fairly quiet home again (but, hey, you never know do you?)! Why not come by and meet me — I’ll bet love will be just around the corner for you!

Hi… my name is Lily.

The people who found me in the desert already had a mastiff, a cattle dog, a pointer, a Shar-Pei, and a Lab — so no surprise that they couldn’t keep me, too! They lived in Patagonia — and their place had lots of room to roam — but adding another dog to the mix of five (pretty big ones!) would have been an awful lot to ask! They did keep me for two weeks though, and said that I was good with all the other dogs, have a very sweet temperament, am a good swimmer, love to play outside, and am a big, smart, obedient girl. I’m a striking, brindle-colored greyhound and Great Dane mix and will be a wonderful addition to any family. I’d love have another canine buddy to romp with (they said I NEED to play!), but if it’s just you and me, that would probably work for me, too!
