Howdy, I’m BUDDY and I’m an 8-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix with that comfortable, laid-back, “lived in” look. You may even think we’ve met before, and who knows…in another lifetime? I’m not reactive to other dogs, in fact I got along fine with my finder’s dog. I walk well on a leash and use the doggie door. I listen to people and try to comply with their requests, even though I might not always understand. Once I’m home, and YOUR Buddy, I’m sure we’ll communicate with each other just fine! My being found isn’t a mystery, but what happened to my missing eye definitely is! Whatever happened hasn’t taken away my positive outlook on life. I may seem shy at first, but watch out…here comes the wagging tail followed by many kisses. I LOVE people!! I’m definitely a good candidate for training and even though I walk quite well, my desire to be close to my handler is probably the reason why. A vehicle ride puzzled me and after assistance getting in, I found a secure, safe place to stay until we arrived at the park. There I was excited by all the sights and smells, and when meeting two other dogs (one large, one small), I was curious but I didn’t react. Now is the time for you to react! PLEASE TAKE ME HOME!

When I was first at TALGV I was a puppy. Look at me now! I love my walks and at first I may get excited and pull on the leash, but once we get going I walk very well and pay close attention to my handler. I’m a big “teddy-bear-like” boy, and I require someone strong enough to handle me. I enjoy going for rides, but I may need assistance getting into high clearance vehicles. You know how hips can be! (I do take daily pain medication that will be paid for by Vet Care Support for Life.) I may be curious about other dogs but when provoked I react mildly, but I understand the “leave it” command, plus “sit,” “wait,” and “let’s go.” Take me for a walk; take me home; keep me forever…Please!

“I love people!” I’ll cry out a friendly greeting, and go out of my way to meet “dog friendly” people on my walks. Don’t be surprised if I sit on your feet! I could use additional behavior training around other dogs and a strong outgoing handler. I’m a well-behaved eight-year-old that comes with Vet Care Support for Life. I’m very particular about where I sleep, so when I get a whim, or feel ignored, I’ll move my beds around. I’m potty trained, and I know sign language. Did I mention I’m deaf? I am a tan shepherd mix looking for a couple of years of fun with a very special someone. At least that’s when they say this cancer thing I’ve got is likely to get me. But no one has asked my opinion, so I am here to tell you that I’m ready to try for more! I love people, enjoy going for car rides, and enjoy sitting next to my person getting petted I adore going for walks, and I walk well on a leash. I can also use a doggie door. When we meet, you may see a large package, but I am really a small dog at heart. I like to sit in laps, for example! I’m not altogether sure what she means by it, but one of the volunteers here calls me a loveable klutz. I am pretty easy going, don’t object to being touched or handled, and I love car rides! To tell all, I was on my way to a great adventure, even trying to hitch a ride, when a smart man decided that I would be better off here. He was right, of course! Now I just have to find that special someone, my very own special someone, who will finally take me on that adventure. Let’s meet soon. I bet we could become really good friends!
