Hi… my name is Rukus,

Adopted 2-3-18

Rukus has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

If you love dogs (and I’m guessing you do), you understand the heartache of being what’s called an “unwanted” dog. It wasn’t about me, really—my person loved me. She got me as a puppy, said I grew up to be “wonderful,” and even liked my kisses. But she couldn’t take me with her when she moved to Phoenix; her family here wouldn’t take me, and her landlord wanted me gone yesterday. So I was living outside, experiencing long and lonely days, when suddenly, I came here. What a difference! Now I’m in out of the weather, have great company, walk with people every day, and I am wanted here; they call me “a sweetheart.” I’m a 7-year-old female, 44 pounds, and oh- so-ready to love you forever if you take me home.

Hi… my name is Charlie,

Adopted 3-15-19

Note: Bio needs update

There ought to be a better description of my unique coat than “black and white,” because it’s a rare white-ticked black that looks just like Christmas tree frosting! And, of course, to go with that, there’s my sparkling personality, too! My dad moved out of the state and couldn’t take my blind canine housemate, Dudley, or me with him, so we’re both seniors looking for special new people. I’m a declawed gentleman, who is FeLV-positive, which means that I need to either live with another FeLV cat (we have several here!), or be your one and only (hey, that actually sounds pretty good to me!). I also come with Free Vet Care for Life, so won’t you do your good deed for the year and “pay if forward” by taking me home?Charlie is FeLV Positive and comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

Hi… my name is Mary,

Adopted 1-13-18

When my dad lost his job and had to move out of state to live with his sister, he could only take one of his three pets along, and as you might guess, I wasn’t the one! One of my canine friends came here with me and he’s already found a home (okay, he WAS pretty darn cute, but so am I!), so I’d like to follow his example and find a new home, too. Since I’ve lived with both dogs and kids and am known to be a playful “meeter and greeter” who loves to be around people all the time, I’m sure I’ll blend right into any kind of home. I’m a lovely, amber-eyed, 2-year-old Torbie who has her sights set on a new life with you!

Hi… my name is Abbie,

Adopted 1-1-18

Wow – there sure are an awful lot of “sweethearts” in this place, so I guess I’m going to have be something extra special to get your attention! How about being loving, gentle, one-eyed (rather dashing I think!), and having a “Rolls Royce” of a purr? Oh, and my rescuers said I love meat (and meow soon as I smell it) and eat tortillas (but not bread) through the bag, so you better keep them hidden away! They found me a few months ago and really wanted to keep me, but one of the resident cats beat me up something fierce, so I’m actually happy to be looking for new digs. I’m a beautiful 4-year-old longhaired calico who’d be just perfect for you!

Hi… my name is Bruce (aka Buddha),

Adopted 1-27-19

Things were great at home until my people realized how much they wanted to travel and how often they’d be boarding me to do that, leaving me sad and lonely. So a new home is best, a place to give and get lots of people attention—which I love! At home, I was crate-trained, gentle and tolerant with kids ages 8 and older, and “asked” to go outside. Here at TALGV, my trainer says I’ve come a long way in learning to be nonreactive to other dogs, I’m treat-motivated, love belly rubs and my chew toy, and would be best with someone who gives me direction in a positive manner because I’m still a puppy at heart! She also said I’m one in a million—adorable and smart—and all I want to be is yours!                                                                                    (Bio revised 8/6/18)

Hi… my name is Bogart,

Adopted 10-27-18

I was named after actor Humphrey Bogart because I’m the leading man type—handsome, charming, and strong. But since I’m a dog, it’s probably equally important that I’ve been described as well-mannered, good in the house when left alone, and leash-trained. I also like to be friendly, affectionate, and my person’s loyal partner at play and in quiet times, too. A couple of caveats: I’m a strong jumper; low fences won’t keep me in. And I didn’t get along with the other dog at my last home, which is why I’m here, hoping to find someone who’ll love me as their only dog. I’m a 3-½-year-old Staffie mix male, 68 pounds, and although the handsome movie star talk is funny, what I really want to be is your faithful companion for fun and forever.

Hi… my name is Kitty,

Adopted 2-5-18

My mom said that I loved to be picked up (not the #1 cat trait I’ve heard, especially one my size!), am very calm, am never “angry,” enjoy playing with a laser light and toys, and am a great lap cat. I got along with my housemate, Francis (except when, according to mom, he was being “obnoxious”), so would probably be okay with another laid back feline. I also loved the kids in my house, but they both had allergies (which is why I’m here), so as you can see, I’m a pretty well-credentialed gal! I’m going to miss my family, but I’ll bet there’s another just as loving right around the corner – one that’ll help me lose a pound or three along the way!

Hi… my name is Francis (aka Garnet),

Adopted 10-15-19

“Goofy” isn’t an adjective you usually associate with cats, but that’s what my people said was one of my most endearing traits! I have to fess up to being a “whopper” too, as it’s pretty obvious that there haven’t been many missed meals in my life! My family adopted me as a kitten 3½ years ago, and like Topsy from Uncle Tom’s Cabin, I just “growed!” Well, that only means there’s more of me to love and boy do I have that down in spades. Mom said that I’m playful, love to sit in laps (but not to be picked up), and was very loving with the kids (who developed allergies to me). So hey, if you think you might need to diet in 2018, how about we do it together?
