Animal League News

Hi… my name is Roseanne,

Adopted 1-1-18

Child abuse doesn’t just happen to humans. I arrived at TALGV with a massive wound on my head and taken to the vet where they discovered that I’d also had a recently broken jaw. After months of treatment and recovery, I’m living with a foster mom (who thinks my injuries were inflicted with a shovel), and she says that despite everything, I’m a sweet, happy girl. I have sight and hearing loss on my left side and have some neurological damage (mom says that I’ll be “locked forever in a puppy world” as my learning curve is a bit slow), but I love people, get along fine with the resident dogs and cats, am housebroken, and am learning to walk on a leash, so everyone is hoping that I can find a super special person to give me lots of love and consistency in my life. If you consider me when you’re ready to “pay it forward,” you won’t be sorry!

P.S. Things you should know about me (from my foster mom): I’m hearing and sight-impaired on my left side. I have permanent neurological damage (sort of like a Down Syndrome child). My tail wags almost all the time. I didn’t used to know what toys were, but I’m learning. I’m learning to trust people, too. I go into my crate (my “safe place”) if I’m frightened. I’m housebroken (I go to the door). I like dogs and cats (especially dogs!). I’m a sweet, happy girl who gets along with all people and kids. I am getting better and better with leash training every day. I need patience and consistency and a “pattern” to my life.

And most of all: I need time and understanding and guidance and love.

Hi… my name is Tink,

Adopted 1-20-18

You say you like the feel of velvet? Well, step right up ‘cause I’m here waiting to give you a tactile treat! And if that doesn’t do it, my personality will win you over in about two minutes! After the toddler in my little family developed allergies, they had to ever-so-reluctantly relinquish me, but they’ve given me a super reference: “Tink loves to get belly rubs, to cuddle, to get attention, and to relax. He’s very friendly and kind to dogs and kids [but not alpha cats!]. He’s just amazing and a new owner won’t be sorry with him!” I’m a handsome 7-year-old declawed jet-black gentleman who’s sure to be one of the most unforgettable cats of your life no matter how many great felines you’ve had!

Hi… my name is Ghost,

Adopted 10-15-17

Our happy home included people, dogs and a cat, until a problem arose. Due to her health issues, our person could no longer take care of us. The great news is that my best dog buddy has already been adopted, which gives me high hopes that I’ll be next. I’m a 16-month-old white Chihuahua/Poodle mix male, 15-1/2 pounds—a nice size for cuddling, which is one of my favorite things. I also enjoy playing with other dogs, love my chew toys, and know the commands “sit,” “shake,” “high five,” “kiss,” and “come here.” My former person said someone had been unkind to me previously, which may be why I’m so shy at first, but please don’t let that keep us apart. I’m truly eager to share love and happiness again—this time with you!

Hi… my name is Lilo,

Adopted 6-7-18

In the year I lived with the family that found me, they said that I was a typical playful, bold, and independent boy (well, “kitten” is still my middle name!), but since coming to TALGV I’ve been a little apprehensive about my new surroundings and it’s taking me a bit to adjust to life without my people. I was very gentle with the two kids I lived with (ages 11 and 13) and loved to sleep with “my” daughter (especially when my “blankie” was there too!). Some felines adapt to new situations faster than others, so I do hope you’ll give me a chance to show you all my attributes, ‘cause they can all be pretty darn nice!

Hi… my name is Mariah,

Adopted 12-9-17

Mariah comes with FREE Vet Care for Life

When they were handing out unique looks, I must have been at the head of the line, because with my one-of-a-kind nose, I won first prize! Like many calicos, I’m can be on the shy side, but once you get to know me, my “sweet specialness” comes to the fore (my mom said I’m an “amazing” cat!). Unfortunately “domestic problems” necessitated her moving in with a family member allergic to cats, so now I’m searching for another quiet home where it will be just me and my human sharing a life’s worth of experiences. And at 13 years old, I’ve got lots more living to do, so I can’t think of one reason why it shouldn’t be with you! Oh, and I come with Free Vet Care for Life!

Hi… my name is Dilly,

Adopted 1-5-20

If it weren’t for my diminutive size, you might think I’m a Maine Coon, but no, I’m simply a little “mini-Maine!” My mom adopted me as a kitten, and we lived a happy life together until she developed severe health issues. It was a sad parting, but she said if you give me some time and patience, I’ll be just as loving with you as I was with her (especially if I’m an “only child”!). She said I know my name, am very calm, and love to be petted. I’m a sweet girl with lots of purrs to share (especially in bed at night!), so I hope you’ll be the one to give me that chance!

Hi… my name is Fluffy,

Adopted 10-14-17

You think of “fluffy” as being longhaired and powder puffy, but actually I have a nice (easily maintained!) short Torbie coat that’s wonderfully soft and simply invites stroking! My rescuer said, “She came to my door twice, so I fed her and brought her to TALGV because we have a lot of coyotes in the area. She likes to be petted and is a real lap cat.” Yeah, well laps are WAY better than hiding from predators, and they have the added benefit of dispensing affection (which is usually followed by food)! I’m about 7 years old, an age that’s acquired wisdom and appreciation for the good things in life. Life’s always better when you can share it with someone, so let’s “get it on” together!
