Hi… my name is Frankie.

Frankie has earned his Canine Good Citizen Certificate.

Adopted February 12, 2014

“Frankie is a super sweet boy who will lick you to death if you let him.” Nice intro, huh? I’m a Staffie mix who was adopted by my family a year ago and got along fine with their other dog until I decided I wanted ALL the attention, so that didn’t work out well for me! Here’s some of what my people said: “Frankie loves going out to the desert and being outside in general. He does very well with kids (ours are 18 months and 3) and is protective of them when we are outside. He should be the only pet in an active home, especially one with an outdoorsy male figure. He needs to be inside with people whenever possible, not left outside to his own devices because he gets bored and it hurts his feelings.” Oh, there’s lots more good stuff, so come for a “meet and greet” and see for yourself!

Arrived January 28, 2013.

Hi… my name is Baby Cat.

Adopted February 7, 2015

You can really get attached to someone after living with them for eight years, so you’ll forgive me if I’m a little on the reserved side at the moment. My mom had to move to an assisted living place near her family in Kansas, and as is the case most times, my housemate, Mama Cat, and I couldn’t go along too (she found another home with a wonderful family, so I’m hoping that one of these days it will be my turn!). I’m a lovely calico lady, and after bit of a “settling in” time I’m sure I’ll make friends pretty easily. I’ve never been around children or dogs, so I think that another home with a quiet, older person or couple would be just right. I know there are a lot of felines to choose from here, but I’d be ever so grateful if you’d give me a second chance!

Hi… my name is Maggie.

I was adopted July 9, 2014.

I appeared on the front porch of a home in Amado last year and stayed there for three weeks while he looked for my owners. During that time there was one of those rare winter storms and I didn’t like being outside in that at all! Well, for now the storms are gone (and apparently so are my erstwhile owners!), so here I am, looking for a safe haven where I can weather the summer monsoons in the home of my new family. I’m a lovely Staffie/Boxer mix girl, and I even know commands like sit, stay, down, and shake, so someone loved me enough to teach me them at one time. I’d make a great watchdog, and although I’m not fond of other dogs (I’ve never been around cats), I adore people and giving kisses, so have great expectations that you’ll want me to share them with you!

Hi… my name is Diamond,

Adopted 5-7-17

Diamond has earned/received her American Kennel Club (AKC)  Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. She comes with FREE VET CARE FOR LIFE!

My sister, Ruby, and I lived happily for a long time with mom, dad, and a small dog (no kids or cats), but they went their separate ways and I’ve been at TALGV ever since. Ruby was adopted by a wonderful family and now, oh please, it’s my turn! I have excellent house manners and am quite loveable—ask any TALGV volunteer. One of them recently took me to her home where I met goats, pigs, horses and burros. How much fun was that! I was what dog folks call “non-reactive” to all of them (except birds and chickens), so I’d be an excellent ranch dog. Honestly, I’d be an excellent, loving companion anywhere. I come with Free Vet Care for Life, and a lifetime of love, too. Won’t you take me home today!

Hi… my name is Ruby.

Adopted July 14, 2015

RUBY COMES WITH FREE VET CARE FOR LIFE PROGRAM.

She earned/received her AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification on July 6, 2015.

My sister, Diamond, and I lived with our first family all our lives until they lost their home and moved to a place that didn’t allow big dogs like us. A year after we came to TALGV, another couple adopted us and we lived happily with them for two years until they decided to go their separate ways. Our little family consisted of a mom, dad, my sister, and another small dog, but no young kids or cats. (I got along well with older children who visited, but in my enthusiasm, I tend to play a bit rough, so maybe I should avoid small critters in general!). I’m happy to report I’ve earned my Canine Good Citizen certificate, and being 8 years old now, also come with Free Vet Care for Life, so if you want a companionable, well-behaved friend, I’m the lady for you!

Hi… my name is Spice.

Adopted 6-21-17 (presently resides at TALGV)

I’m a pretty young calico girl who’s a single mom!  Yes, I came to TALGV with four beautiful kittens, and most have already been adopted.  A nice lady found us in a backyard and brought us to TALGV, which is tons better than hanging around outside in this heat with no food – and it was difficult raising four little ones when you don’t have a home.  There’s no Food Bank for cats!  I’m finished with my “mom duties” now so I’m looking for my forever home with a nice family.  No more kids for me!  I’m very sweet and I’d be very affectionate and grateful to the person who chooses me.  So come take a look at me.  Don’t you think I deserve a good rest now that my parenting is over? And I can keep you company while I’m having it!

Hi… my name is Pumpkin.

Adopted December 29, 2014.

It seems like everyone is moving these days and not taking their pets with them, but my family moved out of the country, so I understand that it was hard to take me along, too. I lived with them for three years (they inherited me from a friend who was, you guessed it, moving!), so I’ve lived with a young couple, a 6-year-old whirlwind human, another cat (with whom I was madly in love!), and a puppy, and I must say that I much preferred the first four over the puppy! I’m a very easy going, orange tabby guy who loves to be brushed (I need it periodically as I tend to shed a bit), and because I really miss my feline lady friend, I would probably love to have another one to chat with about “cat things” and life in general. I’m eminently adaptable, so I’m hoping you’ll be the same, and take me into your life!

Hi… my name is Smokey 2.

Adopted 3-23-18

I’ve been here almost six years and am soooo ready for a new (child-free) home! Some of the volunteers are enormously fond of me because I’m the first to jump onto their laps (and others not so much because I’ve nipped them – which is probably why I’m still here!). But I haven’t done that for ages, as they’ve learned that I only want so much petting and then I’m done (I purr plenty though just sitting in your lap). I prefer not to be picked up, but I’m really too heavy for that nonsense anyway! (Like humans, accessible food 24/7 and too little exercise are to blame for my girth!) So if you’d like to share your life with a handsome gentleman who doesn’t require much petting, come down and see if I like you.

Hi… my name is Li’l Pumpkin.

Adopted with Cheeto December 1, 2015

I’m must be upfront with you and admit that since I arrived with a whole passel of cats I got lost in the shuffle when it came to socialization. But on the plus side, I’m a super-handsome, 2½ -year-old, longhaired, orange tabby and white boy and I’m sure that in a peaceful home with people who have time and patience to “wait out” my shyness, I’ll overcome that in no time. My absolute best friend and soul mate, Cheeto, is also a bit on the reticent side, so the volunteers would like us to be adopted together (moral support, you know!). I’m certain that if you make the effort with us, you’ll be rewarded with two delightful (but undoubtedly always quiet!) companions. But hey! What’s wrong with quiet?

Hi… my name is Ember,

Adopted 12-18-16

Ember comes with FREE Vet Care for Life

I’m a big, beautiful Calico lady, whose name perfectly describes her color. I was so happy living with my mom, but when she moved she couldn’t take me with her and I had to move on too. She said I got along with other cats, but I’ve never been around dogs or children, and since I’m pretty used to a fairly quiet life, very young kids may not be a great idea. Although I’m not your traditional “lap cat,” I am very affectionate and mellow and love to be petted. Although I’m not a youngster any more (I now come with Free Vet Care for Life), I can still be playful at times, so come meet me – despite all the “company” here, I’d love a visitor and a friendly chat!

Hi… my name is Squiggy,

Adopted December 5, 2015

Hey out there! I’ve been at TALGV for THREE YEARS now, and I think it’s time that someone took a look at me (especially with these gorgeous blue eyes — really unusual in an orange tabby!). Before I arrived, I lived with my senior mom, four other cats, and two dogs. Although I got along fine with all of them in my home, the number of cats here sometimes overwhelms me, so I often keep a low profile. I’m trying not to though and if you’ll come sit in my room and “talk nice” to me, I’ll bet I can convince you that I’m the one for you. Please give me a chance and try it — it might be Karma.

Hi… my name is Jelly Bean,

PERMANENT FOSTER AS OF 12-31-24

Eleven years! That’s how long I’ve been waiting for a home of my own! Because I didn’t appreciate living with other cats, I had that unacceptable “bad behavior” and no one was willing to take a chance that I’d be okay in a home. Well, a wonderful foster mom did take that chance, and I’ve been a perfectly behaved, loving companion to her. I’m chatty, playful (I still get the “zoomies”), and while she’s turning off the TV and lights at night, I go wait for her in bed so we can snuggle up together. She’s sad that she can’t keep me forever, so she’d love to introduce you to me and tell you lots more about what a great transformation a real home has made in me!  (Bio updated July 2021)

Arrived 4-25-11; bio revised 5-22-18.
