Honey

My name fits me pretty well! I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but with patience and gentle voices, I warm up and show my sweet, affectionate side. I’ve been wonderful with other dogs and have shared space with several shelter roommates. Funny thing is… they keep getting adopted. Some folks say I’m a good-luck charm! I could use a little luck myself. Time in foster homes has helped me shine. I have polite manners, I’m house and potty trained, and I enjoy peaceful walks with my doggie and volunteer friends. I feel especially confident when another dog is around, and I take comfort in calm routines. My friends can’t believe I’m still waiting, but I know the right person will see the gentle soul I am and give me the chance to truly blossom. (1/26)

When I came to TALGV after my owner of eight years had to rehome me, it didn’t take them long to figure out that my favorite things, in order, are: chasing balls, snacks, and chasing balls. Yes, I am an excellent walker on a leash. Yes, I enjoy scratches and belly rubs. Yes, I’m housebroken. They say I’m well-behaved and very sweet (oh, and handsome). The people here really love when I smile at them, and I figured out quickly that smiling gets me plenty of snacks, so I guess I’m also smart. I’m basically the total package! If you have snacks, like throwing the ball, and want a best friend for life, I may be the guy for you. I don’t need a lot, but I can offer a lifetime of love in return.

I got my name after dodging a car (yep, I’m fast too!) and getting scooped up by a hero named Kris. I was skinny, scrappy, and clearly nobody had given me the love I deserved—until now. The shelter crew feeds me, spoils me, and can confirm I’m a heart-stealer. I’m about 2 years old and learning how to be friends with other dogs. Puppies are more my speed right now, since I’m still recovering, but I’ll graduate to grown dogs. I’ve got a big personality, a bigger heart, and I’m ready to find my person. I’m a stunning girl who arrived at TALGV after being found abandoned, alone and scared, in a nearby pecan field. I’ve since been fully vetted, spayed, and ready to start my quest to find a loving family. A few things about me: I like to take my time getting to know someone, so if you’re patient and respectful, I’ll show you the playful, fun side of me. I LOVE going for car rides and walks to explore all the sights, sounds, and scents. I also wait to ‘go’ until we are on a walk, so I’m likely housetrained. I’m a 2-year-old mixed breed, only 37 pounds, but my heart’s as big as they come. I’m shy when we first meet, like a diesel engine that takes a minute to warm up. But once I do, I’m ready to go, full of love, loyalty, and wagging tail. Oh! I’m a smart guy, too! I love puzzles and figuring things out – you could say I’m a bit of a problem solver. I walk really well on a leash, so we can explore the world together, and I promise, once we’re bonded, I’ll be right there with you, enjoying every adventure (and every snuggle). Milkshake

Hi… my name is Milkshake,

While my name is “Milkshake,” my new nickname since I’ve trimmed down is “Slim Fast,” and I feel great! I’m a happy, friendly pup who just LOVES people. I’m a gal who’ll greet you with a tail wag and stay by your side through thick and thin. I’ve got great house manners, love car rides, and take my naps like a pro. I’ll even go in my crate for a treat—easy peasy! I sit politely for the leash and wait to be invited in—manners matter, right? I can get barky at the doorbell, but once you’re inside, we’re besties. I’m still working on being calm around other dogs on leash, but I’m getting better! Life wasn’t always easy, but it’s all about second chances and spreading joy. I was a not-so-little boy Blue, wandering alone when my finder brought me to TALGV. My microchip info revealed my owner passed away and no family member could take me in. Despite losing everything I’ve known in my young life, I remain hopeful that I’ll find a perfect, permanent family. Here are some “Blue’s Clues” about me: I adore walks. Despite my resemblance to a small land hippo, I’m easy to handle. No speed walkers, please. I love to stop and smell the roses, the rocks, the plants…and any pee-mails left behind by other dogs. I know “sit” and am learning polite manners while getting leashed up and harnessed. I’d be best in a quiet home with either no kids or older, respectful kids. Winter

Winter is an affectionate 5-year-old, 50-pound Dachshund/Staffie mix female who needs a new home. She is crate trained, leash trained, and has some obedience training (knows “sit” and “crate”). She asks to go out and can use a doggy door. She is in good health, spayed, up to date on rabies shot, and medical records are available. Winter gets along with other dogs, cats, and children over 5 years. She loves peanut butter treats, dislikes loud noises, and will play briefly with her ball. She stays off furniture but, if invited, she will be happy to sleep with you instead of in her crate. There is no adoption fee for this sweet girl.
