Hi… my name is Jewel.

Adopted March 2, 2015.

They say time heals all wounds, and boy is that ever true in my case! When I was found my leg had multiple fractures, so it was decided that rather than go through months of painful surgeries, amputation would give me freedom from pain with recovery and mobility within a few days (and all you have to do is check out my video to see that three legs work just as well as four!). My foster family says that I’m still in my late-puppy “crazy cute” stage and have found my voice (a bit of a howl) when I want your attention. I’m a delightful, happy-go-lucky 33-pound Boston terrier mix who would love to show you how thankful I am to be here, so why not call to arrange a “meet and greet” and find out!

More About Jewel from Her Foster Dad (2/20/15)

Jewel is very inquisitive and curious about the things going on in the home and with the family.  Always “right there” with everyone. She likes to be where her family is usually following us from place to place, room to room. She likes to cuddle up next to us on the couch and usually kind of melts there and falls asleep. Her most distinctive trait (aside from having only 3 legs) is her large ears.  They perk right up when something catches her attention. She gets along fine on 3 legs and has no trouble at all walking or running. She loves the back yard, always exploring.  But one of her favorite activities is running.  And she can run pretty fast.  She likes chasing and being chased.  She’ll chase balls and will usually bring them back to you – unless she’s trying to get you to chase her!

She walks pretty well on the leash but is still a bit uncomfortable with exposure to the big wide world. She’s on her guard and a little uncomfortable.  But the more she gets out the more comfortable she gets.  It’s just a matter of time and trust. Jewel is reactive when new people come into her environment, but in a very short time, when she realizes there’s nothing to be threatened about, she makes friends easily. Jewel is crate trained and house trained. She goes into her crate easily and sometimes puts herself in when she senses we’re getting ready to go out. It’s a safe place and a place of comfort for her. Jewel just learned to sit on command.  Although somehow she thinks it means sitting on my foot. She has an easygoing personality and very much wants to please her humans.  With lots of love and attention she will make the right home a wonderful addition.

Hi… my name is Cloud.

Adopted March 11, 2015

When my biographer asked about my personality, the cat coordinator said, “Cloud is an absolute dream!  She is a volunteer favorite and LOVES TO BE HELD and petted.  I swear she has no bones in her body as she just melts in your arms any which way you hold her.  When we put her in a room she found a bed, crawled in, and made herself right at home.  I would love to have this cat!” Combine that with my good looks — a lovely grey and white coat with oh-so-beautiful golden eyes — my settled adult self (5 years old — just the perfect age!), and you get a warm, loving, and desirable package. I’m hopeful that once you meet me, it’s one you’ll want to have for yourself!

Hi… my name is Swoosh.

Adopted April 12, 2015

When you’ve lived with twelve other cats and three dogs, you’ve got to be considered a pretty flexible feline, and I am! All of my tribe came to TALGV after my mom went into a nursing home and it was obvious that we were all lovingly cared for and are all friendly and sweet. If you talk to nice to me, give me a few minutes to warm up, scratch my cheek and brush me, I’ll gladly jump in your lap and purr with delight. I’m a shorthaired brown tabby gal who’s yearning for the chance to show you just how easy going and loving I can be. If you fall in love with me, perhaps you’ll also consider one of my friends for twice the love! (Dundee, Muggles, Brielle, Casper)

Hi… my name is Styx.

Adopted February 1, 2015.

When you’ve lived with twelve other cats and three dogs, you’ve got to be considered a pretty flexible feline! All of my tribe came to TALGV after my mom went into a nursing home (even for those places that allow a pet to accompany its person, my menagerie was a bit over the top!), so although some of us are taking longer to adjust than others, I know that we’ll all prevail in the end. The volunteers say we’re all basically very sweet cats (some of us are understandably more outgoing than others) and just need new homes where we’re sure to settle in in no time. I’m a shorthaired solid black guy who’s yearning for the chance to show you just how adaptable and loving I can be.

Hi… my name is Sammy-O.

Adopted February 14, 2015

When you’ve lived with twelve other cats and three dogs, you’ve got to be considered a pretty flexible feline! All of my tribe came to TALGV after my mom went into a nursing home (even for those places that allow a pets, that was a bit over the top!). Being a super outgoing guy, I was adopted right away, but the lady said I was “too affectionate and needed to be around her all the time,” so she brought me back after only a week (the volunteers were pretty astonished at that, I can tell you)! So — if you WANT a guy who will be with you through thick and thin — I’m the one. I’m a young tabby and white boy who’s yearning for the chance to shower you with love!
