Hi… my name is Pedro,

Adopted 6-4-18

I might be too shy to tell you this when first we meet, but I’m a lap dog—a quiet little guy who’s really happy to cuddle up with you any time. For the past 2-1/2 years, I’ve been lovingly cared for, but now my person needs to go to an assisted living facility and so I’m here on my own, torn between being pretty bashful and really wanting to meet a kind person who likes little dogs—maybe me especially. I’m a well-behaved, loving, 4-1/2-year-old Chihuahua male with a brindle coat and big brown eyes, 11 pounds (could lose a few), leash-trained and housebroken. I seldom bark, but if you’re my forever person, I’ll always let you know how much you mean to me. May we please start our contented, happy-together life today?

Hi… my name is Lizzie,

Adopted 6-27-18

Comes with Free Vet Care for Life

I was adopted from TALGV 8-1/2 years ago (when I was 3), and the only reason I’m back is because my beloved person died. I like to think she’d be pleased with the nice things people say about me here—that I’m very friendly, lovable, and “seem younger than my stated age.” Even on my intake exam—temperature-taking and everything—the medical folks said I was cheerful, totally cooperative, and an “absolutely wonderful dog.” Being an 11-1/2-year-old Shepherd/Doberman mix female, (who comes with Free Vet Care for Life!), I’ve learned some important things, like how to walk on a leash, “ask” to go outside, and, best of all, how to appreciate and love my person with my whole heart. So here’s my big question: May I please have a forever place in your heart?

Hi… my name is Savannah,

Comes with Free Vet Care for Life

Even though I lived with other cats all my life, I’ve decided that I want to be your “one and only” in the feline department! Despite what you might have heard about standoffish “tortitude,” I can be loving and affectionate when it’s just you and me. After mom went into a nursing home my life was turned upside down, but if you sit and spend some time with me you’ll see how much attention and petting I really crave. I’m a 15-year old lady who’s eligible for free vet care for life, so it sure would be grand if you’d take me home and let me get back to the important business of being your constant companion.

Hi… my name is Teddy,

Adopted 5-18-18

There were twelve of us—6 young dogs and 6 newborn puppies—left in an abandoned house without food or water in triple-digit heat. Then a door opened. A woman had heard us. She was our first hero, and there would be many more. Indeed, we were in such dire straits that the rescue activity at TALGV by so many people—busy with fluids, cooling, nourishment, whatever we needed—is a bit of a blur. What I know for sure is that our lives were saved that day. Now we each have a future—a chance to thrive, play, give and receive love. I’m a small Poodle mix male, blonde, 9-1/2 pounds, and I’m sure you understand why I’m so ready for a carefree, fun, happy life in a comfy, loving home with you!   (bio needs update)

Hi… my name is Annie,

Adopted with Raven 10-31-18

Belly rubs! I live for belly rubs! That, and of course the attendant head and chin scratches that go along with them! My people (a senior couple) didn’t leave a whole lot of information about me when they relinquished me (they did say I lived with another cat but not how well we got on), but the volunteers are finding that although at the moment I’m quite “shy and retiring” as the saying goes, I really do love (and crave) “hands on” attention. I’m a charming 8-year-old dilute torti with a gentle soul who’ll no doubt appreciate a quiet new home where I can spend many long hours sharing life’s pleasures and napping in sunbeams.

Hi… my name is Zeus (aka Spot),

Adopted 11-6-18

My history includes a scary monsoon storm, a divorce, then an unpleasant encounter with another dog, but also lots of friends—including some other animals—and years of a happy home life. So I’m optimistic! You could say I’m a dog with a dream—one that starts with meeting someone special like you, and showing you why I’m called “a truly great dog.” A fun buddy at playtime, I know several commands, walk well on a leash, and ride well in a car. I’ve been good with kids (ages 8 and up) and some other dogs; even lived with cats in the past! A handsome 6-year-old Staffie male, naturally sweet and affectionate, I’m also house trained and crate trained. And if you give me the loving home I’m dreaming about, I’ll give you my whole heart forever.

Hi… my name is Dolores,

Adopted 6-2-18

I was found in the desert near the mines—all kinds of dangers for a puppy out there, and I did need medical care when rescued. Fortunately, that went very well and today I’m enjoying all kinds of puppy fun. My wonderful foster mom sings my praises: “Dolores is a gem,” she said, adding that I’m extremely smart, rarely bark, happy to sleep in my crate and a great eater. She takes me walking on a leash, reports that housebreaking is progressing, and that I’ve “shown no signs of being anything other than a lovely little puppy.” Awww, thanks foster Mom! I was 15 pounds at 4 months, a tan Shepherd mix female, and if you have time and big love to give, I’d love to be your puppy today and your companion forever.

Hi… my name is Lollie,

Adopted 9-28-18

Comes with Free Vet Care for Life.

Don’t ever let them tell you a gal’s too old for a spa-like “makeover!” Well, that’s what I got when I arrived at TALGV after my mom died because my grooming had been woefully neglected for a very long time (my coat was completely matted and my nails were growing into my paws!). Right now I’m sporting a “lion cut,” but when it grows out I’ll be the gorgeous, longhaired Siamese/Himalayan mix I’m meant to be. I’m a totally sweet, 10-year-old lady who ADORES attention (well, just being with you!) and since I’m “on the older side,” I qualify for free vet care, so now’s the time to bring me home and watch the transformation!
