DORY is a beautiful, smart, and affectionate, 5-year-old, 38-pound Shepherd mix female that needs a new home as there has been a recent change at home that makes her unhappy. She is spayed, very healthy, and shots are up to date (medical records available). Owner believes Dory should be an only pet since she does not always get along with other dogs; kids and cats are unknown. She loves adults, knows many commands, and has excellent manners. Silver and gold – who doesn’t like that combination? I make quite an impression with my silvery tabby fur and golden eyes, and even more of one when you get to know me! Although I’ve been roaming free with lots of other cats way out in the hinterlands, now that I’m safe I’m looking forward to lots of “us” time in a secure new home with my own person. They say that I’m really friendly, but sometimes you have to “talk and croon” to me to let me know cuddle time is near. Even though I don’t have a home right now, I’m a happy, hopeful dog. After all, I was once lost, running loose and almost hit by a car, when strangers stepped up to rescue me. Good things do happen! And while I’m watching and hoping for my forever someone, I’m making friends here—I peacefully shared my run with another dog, and the volunteers compliment me for being attentive, affectionate, and lots of fun. A young adult (born in 2016), and slender (about 46 pounds), I’m an energetic, tan and white Boxer/Staffie mix male who equally loves playtime and belly rubs followed by naps. When you first meet me, your first thought might be, “Oh Granny, what big ears you have”! Well, OK, never mind that I’m a guy, you get the idea! And then there’s the handsome silky grey and white coat and rumbly purr that complement the package. I’m a quiet, pretty much one-person fellow (who isn’t awfully fond of men) who’s lived with other cats and a dog all my life. My mom was unable to care for me any longer as she had too many of “the others,” so my aim in life is to find another laid back home and person to call my own. At 15 years of age I have free vet care too, so why not take advantage of a stellar deal and take me home?

When I arrived, they gave me a comfy bed, food and water, and said I could take time to just “settle.” Between you and me, I “froze.” On that first day, I hardly moved. Here’s why: I’d been rescued from the interstate after dodging traffic for at least ten days. Then suddenly I was in this friendly, happy, comfy place. Could it be real? Yes, it is! Now I’ve made friends with people and other dogs. Oh, I’m still a little shy, but so much happier—free to be my playful, affectionate self. And they tell me that someday, someone will take me home and be my best friend ever! I’m a 1-year-old beautiful female, just 36 pounds, probably a Shepherd mix and definitely a sweetheart. On a sunny Saturday afternoon—another hungry day for me—a wonderful something magic happened. I can’t describe it exactly, but I was just searching for something edible, when suddenly a kind person was talking to me, and then presto—I was at The Animal League! They call that magic being “rescued.” And let me tell you—I like it. No more hungry days for me; here I have company, comforts, and pretty soon I won’t be as skinny as I was on rescue day. I’m a very handsome Red Heeler mix male, a nice medium size, and as a 1-year-old, I’m still playful, energetic, with some things to learn. Shy at first, I’d love to show you how I warm up quickly, what fun we could have together, and why I’m the dog for you!
